Chapter 13 The Green Goblin

(Brian's P.O.V)

Turns out Bone Face, didn't like losing bones from his face. Get it. Coz we punched a few teeth loose from his mouth which is part of the face. Just so you know, I'm not going to be embarrassed about how lame that joke is.

So we beat up Bone Face and his crew, intimidated him into not laying any more traps for me if he wanted to keep the rest of his 24 teeth. What? We got a little too excited, ok? And that issue was solved like that. Peter showed his inexperience and potential in that fight and being as smart as he was, he didn't refuse the offer of extra combat training I'd given him.

"Again."

I said to Peter who was lying on the rolling mat while clutching his ribs. He kipped up, did a flip that swiftly shifted into a drop kick in mid air. I blocked with one hand and effortlessly threw him away. Two webs shot from his wrists to the walls on both his sides, not only reducing the force of the throw but also giving him the momentum to spring forwards at a higher speed than normal.

The Peter missile came in with a knee that I blocked with a finger. Always wanted to do that. He snarled in frustration and stepped back but I followed him and my palm connected with his chest sending him flying back with a 'oof!'

"Come on Pete, you can do better than that."

"Gah! You think I'm not trying?!"

I smirked, taunting him.

"That's what you call trying?"

He punched the ground and got up, furious.

"Why you little…"

"What?, I interrupted him while looking at my nails,"you got a problem with my face? Well then, here you go. Come and punch it."

The spar went on for another half hour before I ended it. I threw him a towel from where he was laying down on the ground, an icepack on his forehead.

"Ouuuch. How can a finger flick hurt so damn much?"

I chuckled.

"Don't sweat it. Nothing comes easy without working for it."

My response brought a pensive look to his face.

"That reminds me. How did you get so…strong. I mean, you know that my powers come from a radioactive spider bite but what about yours?"

He asked me the question I had been dreading to hear from him, for 2 days. I wasn't happy that I was going to have to lie to him but I couldn't tell him the truth.

"This world is not as normal as we think. Your case is just one example of superhumans and the existence of strange things. When I started practicing martial arts and pushing my body to it's limit, my eyes opened up to a whole new world. I gained the ability to control the mystical energy present in the air, using it for different purposes. Enhancing my body for instance, this allows me to lift over 100 tons, ran faster than a car and even block bullets. I don't think I'm fully human but I've never tried to find out what I am. Now come, I need to show you something."

I knew he wasn't satisfied with that but it was all I was willing to say. He followed me into my main lab. I had split the basement into 4 parts. The training room was where we were coming from. I lit up the computer and accessed a file labeled, Prometheus.

"The titan who brought fire to man. This is gonna be interesting."

Peter commented from the side.

"Whoa. What is this?"

I smirked and enlarged the frame.

"This my friend is the Prometheus project. A way to bring light to the world through scientific advancements. It's something I've been thinking about since you created a kinetic energy converter out of scrap metal and a broken torch. You're smart Pete. Really smart and the only reason you haven't changed your ideas into reality is a lack of money. But that is no longer a problem."

I opened another folder under the Prometheus file titled, Parker Industries.

"This is?"

I turned to look at him.

"It's a detailed plan on how we're gonna create our own company. Parker Industries has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"

He looked it over and gaped.

"I know what you're thinking. Probably something along the lines of being too ambitious but we've got this."

" Brian half of the things you're proposing will cost us an arm and a leg. The machinery needed to create the machines we need alone will bleed our college funds dry."

I snorted.

"We're never touching that money before college Pete. Aunt May would kill us before we voiced that thought. But that wasn't what I had in mind."

I pulled up another file and Peter gaped at the bank statement.

" 50 million dollars?!"

He shouted in disbelief. If he only knew that that was just the official amount I was willing to show to him, he would be shocked.

"I've made that cash from investments and playing the stock market so it's all legal. I already  have a firm in mind we can hire to deal with the contracts, patents and other legal stuff."

It pays to be smart and have meta-knowledge from my previous universe. He swallowed thickly.

"You've huh… you've really put a lot of thought into this."

I nodded and held his shoulder.

"There's no need to feel pressured or anything. It's not like we're going to start doing this right now. I was thinking we wait until we complete high school and then start. With your genius, my creativity and the money there's no one stopping us from leaving a mark in history."

I told him while my heart beat like crazy and my palms started sweating a little. I needed Peter by my side. I still wasn't smart enough to figure out dimensional travel on my own but I knew it was possible. If he refused my offer then I would have to go for plan B which would suck major ass.

"What the heck…yeah I'm in."

"Yes! Now let me show you what I've been working on!"

I said excitedly to him and clicked on a file titled The Iron Spider project.

"This Peter was supposed to be my final trump card to convince you to join me. It contains two parts. The first one is outfitting you with a nano-layered suit that will enhance your physical parameters by at least 5 times which would make you as strong as me while providing you with a better defense, 4 extra limbs to fight and help you maneuver even better and different modes for firing your webbing."

The screen had a 3d presentation of a suit that looked eerily similar to Tom Holland's spiderman suit. Peter took control of the mouse and studied the suit from different angles.

"It's…sound in theory but the materials not to mention figuring out how to make it is gonna be hell."

"I know. Anyway for the second part of the Iron Spider project, " I told him while changing the screen to show an image of a small silver round ball with a red lens at the front. " I call this the Iron Legion, a series of pinball sized drones that would help you in your vigilante job. They can access real time footage of crime and send it to you through something I call a 'Spider eye'."

I then showed him the image of a watch.

"Did you really come up with all this in 2 days?"

He looked skeptical.

"Well some of it. The Iron Legion was an idea I previously had but it didn't seem to fit with my fighting style so I scrapped it."

"How many of these iron legion drones are we gonna send out?"

"Depends but no less than a hundred."

"That's still gonna wear us out."

He raised a valid point but I smiled.

"I thought of that but you don't have to worry, the drones have a stunning mechanism incase the crime happening is too far or too urgent to wait. You can freely adjust the charge from lethal to non-lethal."

He eyes shone in interest.

"Ok and I think we should also give them a cloaking function. We don't want this type of technology falling into the wrong hands."

He added something I hadn't thought about.

"You're right. Can't believe I didn't think of that."

I quickly added that point to the plans. I was happy to see Peter participate. It showed that he was actually committed.

"All this raises one question though. How are we gonna power all this up?"

He inquired. I smirked and looked at him knowingly. Realization dawned on him and he groaned while rubbing his temple.

" The arc reactor. That's your solution."

He added.

"It's a great solution. Clean energy, efficient conversion and abundant reserves."

"I still haven't worked it all out you know."

I sensed a 'but' there so I took the bait.

"Buuut?"

" But yeah. I'm near a breakthrough and I can feel it. Just give me a little more time."

Yes! The good news just keeps on coming,

"Take all the time you need lil bro."

He got annoyed at that.

"Lil bro? We're the same age you idiot."

"Nah…still 2 months older."

"Fuck. Hate that you're right."

"Hahaha."

I opened up the fridge and grabbed 2 colas. In this universe Peter was a Pepsi fun but my Batcave, my rules. Can I still call it Batcave though? Is multiversal copyright infringement a thing? Bah! Who cares.

"Don't you have a Pepsi?"

"Nope."

"Should have gone to the Would Unity Fair with MJ and Harry. God I hate Cola."

He grumbled.

My eyes widened and I whilred around quickly.

"Wait, that's today?"

Peter looked at me like I was a fool.

"Yeah I told you that yesterday. You don't remember?"

Oh shit. I jumped up quickly.

"Pete suit up. Let's go for a patrol. Something tells me we don't wanna miss the Fair."

I told him while trying to hide my beating heart.

This was bad. Spiderman and The Green Goblin's first fight happened during the World Unity Fair. Osborn in his alter ego Green Goblin would try to kill his company's board members before they sold the company to Quest Aerospace, their main rival. Green Goblin wouldn't care about the collateral damage or casualties he would cause. Many people would have died without Spiderman's timely intervention. We needed to go.

Wait. This presented a valuable opportunity for me. Osborn and Harry were both at the Fair though for different reasons. Which meant Osborn's secret store room of the Oz Formula was up for grabs. I knew Peter could handle him so why don't I take a chance and break in while both father and son were occupied?

"On second thought Pete. I think you alone should go. I still need to do a couple of things and then lock up."

He looked at me strangely.

"You're sure? You're acting a little weird."

"I'm fine. just remembered all the paperwork I need to finish up with."

He shrugged and grabbed his mask, putting it on his back pack.

"Get some good pictures for me ok?"

"Cool."

After he was gone, I quickly suited up and left a few minutes later.

"If I time this right, no one will notice me going in or out. Except maybe for Bernard. Man, what is up with badass butlers?
