(Brian's P.O.V)

"Hey Aunt May…yeah… we're good. Pete says hi…no both of us are safe. Harry lost a friend in the attack so we're gonna stay the night with him…No I can't be sure… I'll call you ok? Say hi to Uncle Ben for us. Love you."

I hanged up with a heavy heart. I just lied to her. It would kill her to know that Peter was at the brink of death.

I say at the brink of death because he was really hanging by a thread, the only thing keeping him alive was the seal under him. I hadn't wasted time, quickly arriving at the base. His condition had been severe which had prompted me to make some necessary sacrifices. The seal doubled as a life-force battery, constantly bombarding his body with life energy. Just enough to ward off true death for…24 hours.

'If I had enough time…I could have made a stasis field or even slow down time for his body. Though the chances for succeeding on the first try are less than a percent.' I thought as I got up, my body feeling immensely weak. I walked or rather stumbled to my cellphone a d dialled a number.

"Is it ready? Good. I'll be there soon."

I went to the last of the four rooms of my base and pressed a button. The section of the wall at my front opened up, revealing 4 vehicles and a motorbike.

I twirled the key to the motorbike on my finger while walking towards it. The room lit up upon my presence. I reached the bike and caressed it gently, while jumping on it. I couldn't run or jump very high in my current condition so I would have to take the bike. I had a love for motorbikes but even my Yamaha FZ1 didn't feel enough so without wasting time I revved the engine and sped off. I followed a tunnel that opened up to a rail track which I followed up and onto the main road.

30 minutes later I was inside a private jet heading to Hong Kong.

"Can I offer you anything Mr. Parker?"

"A glass of water if you will."

"I'll be right back."

I sipped the water the hostess had offered me while rubbing my temple. I thought back to an hour ago and sighed.

"It better be worth it. Don't die on me Pete. Please."

I brought up the Interface in anxiety. It… really changed. Huh. Guess there's no helping it. I would do the same in a heartbeat. My Parameters which had been this previously…

Had changed into this…

[Name: Brian Parker]

Cultivation level: N/A

Life force energy: 89

Body strength: Superhuman.

Soul strength: N/A

Mental strength: Mid Psion

Special skills: Echo.

                         Danger Sense.

                         Life force manipulation.

I couldn't sense my cultivation any longer. The only way I had thought off to quickly sustain Peter's life before I could bring him back was feeding his body life-force energy. This came with both good and bad news. The good news, my bio-electric aura was the life force produced by my cells so it would work. The bad news, i didn't have nearly enough.

So I used both of the blue vials of Goblin serum on myself. I then used The Interface to change all that energy into qi. Doing this brought my cultivation to the peak of qi condensation. I then destroyed my cultivation. The pain was immense. The shockwave of energy released didn't escape my grasp however and I used the Interface again to convert it all into life force energy.

My limited bio-kinesis was then used to make my cells receptive of the life force energy, effectively evolving bio-electric aura into Life Force manipulation. I could now use Ki. Not qi but Ki, the manifestation of my physical power. I then constructed a seal that received life force energy, stored it and then distributed that energy to my object of desire. All that left me tapped out as I sent every dreg of energy I could into the seal.

I was now back to square 1 in my cultivation. The huge setback was upsetting but necessary. I was just happy I hadn't advanced that far into a higher realm or I would have been more than a little frustrated.

It was going to take about 15 hours to Hong Kong so I drew into myself to try and stabilize my body. The backlash from my actions was thankfully minimal so what I was trying to do was to get a sense of ki. I didn't know what to expect upon arriving. It would be favorable to me to be at my best.

Sensing Ki wasn't a problem. What was was just how…unwieldy it felt. It refused to listen to any of my commands and I instantly realized an unforeseen consequence of my actions. My control was fucked. It had gone to shit. I could still use the basic form of echo, which was increasing my strikes by 50% but the advanced applications required a more delicate hand at controlling the meager energy in the air. Echo: Reverse, to reflect back the power of an attack and Double echo to increase my strikes by 200%.

I had already started outlining meridians throughout my being. Next step would have been a dantian to act as a qi center but now with my cultivation back to N/A all my Ki was contained in my cells, Dragonball style. I'll admit to have taken inspiration from the beloved franchise and it was also apparent that ki had some advantages to qi.

The biggest advantage being, it was hard for someone to cripple my cultivation by targeting my meridians or dantian. My ki reserves existed in every part of my body. From the tiniest hair on my head to my toenails.

My thoughts went back to my plan. I was going to use the medallion to bring Peter back. I had done extensive research and the Medallion could turn a person into an immortal up to 24 hours after their death. So that gave me a little over 30 hours to get the medallion to Peter. But. What if something happened ( like it always does) that prevented me from reviving Peter with it?

That meant I needed a plan b. A way to account for anything. Fortunately the bare bones of a contingency were falling into place. I was going to have to speed up the development of my 'Observe' function of the Interface, something I had been meaning to do. A function that would help me gauge my opponents' strength in comparison to mine through a simple scan. It wasn't as powerful as the real observe because the function would only work when touching someone but...what if I evolved it?

Hours later I landed. My progress towards better energy control was still minimal but it would hopefully get better with practice. I had never feared the grind before and I wasn't going to start now. I stepped out of the plane and found myself before a contingent of vehicles, heavily guarded by men in tuxedos. A young asian woman stepped away and gave me a massive hug.

"Brian you're back!"

I smiled a little and hugged her back.

"Hey xin xin, how's your dad?"

"Grumpy as always. Mom still refuses to allow him to go out with his friends."

"His health?"

I asked as we made it to one of the cars.

"He's doing okay. All thanks to you."

When I had been creating the bio-kinetic function to add to my Interface, there had been a need to scan multiple people apart from myself to better compare the differences between my biology and others. That's how I had accidentally scanned Xin xin's dad, a wealthy businessman with a love for martial arts during one if my tournaments. Turns out he had dormant cancer cells. When I told him to get screened he'd been skeptical at first but a day later I had been surprised to find him at my hotel, expressing his thanks and telling me to ask him for anything.

That's how I had gotten acquainted with his family. He had been responsible for arranging the jet to bring me to Hong Kong. We finally arrived at the hotel one of my contacts had booked for me and I turned to look at the now pouting woman next to me.

"Come on Brian, you really don't wanna stay with us?"

I shook my head.

"I can't Xin xin. What I'm going to do is dangerous and I don't want to implicate your dad. That means I can't be seen anywhere near the Xin mansion."

She finally relented after I promised her to call her when my business was done. After she left my face turned grim and I called another number. This time the number was a private information broker. I trusted him as far as I could throw him. Huh, that saying doesn't apply to me anymore. In other words, I didn't trust him. For any shady business I had in Hong Kong however, he was the man for the job.

" Do you have their location?"

I asked after he picked up.

"Aah Mr. Vee. Nice to hear your voice again and yes, you'll find what you're looking for at xxx xxx. It's an old temple that doesn't see much presence nowadays."

"Thank you. I've wired you the rest of the money."

He laughed jovially.

"Pleasure doing business with you."

I hanged up and looked at the phone. Should I kill him to cover my tracks? Nah, I'm not that evil. Selfish yes. Evil? No.

I rented another motor bike and drove to the location the broker had sent me. My heart was hammering in my chest. The medallion was near. I could feel the utterly massive conduit of mystic energy as I approached the location, getting closer to a one way ticket to God hood.

I finally arrived at the front of the temple. It was a bit on the small side but the materials making up the building were rich with energy. I stepped forward and knocked the door. It opened.

It's NOT A NERF! you will all understand soon.
