11 Interrogation

"Isn't this Jack?"

It would've been hard for Daniel to not recognize Jack. The man stood out no matter where he went with his massive frame. However, to see him knocked out cold on the floor of the haunted house late at night was definitely something new. Out of everyone that Daniel was expecting to see, Jack had never even crossed his mind, after all he wasn't even supposed to have been at the park today.

Now isn't the time to be thinking about this, I need to go and get some rope from the storage room to bind him.

Amongst one of the boxes that Daniel had looked through, He had found a rope tied in the shape of a noose. It would've been a lie to say that Daniel was not freaked out by that, so he had just put it back into the box and decided it was best to ignore it, however who could've known that he would need to use it one day in this manner.

Running back to the storage room, Daniel quickly flipped one of the boxes open and grabbed the rope that had fallen out. Then he rushed back into the staff break room, however what he saw there had quickly made his heart sink. What was previously a rather disturbing scene, with a man lying unconscious on the floor, had returned to normal, however for Daniel this 'normalcy' was the worst thing that could've happened. Jack was gone and the room was empty once again, even worse was the fact that all the windows were still locked and the front door was still in the exact same spot that Daniel had left it in. Realizing how bad the situation was, Daniel had decided that it was best to run and come back latter, but before he could even turn around he felt something knock heavily on the back of his head.

Daniel felt his consciousness fading, as he collapsed heavily onto the cold, hard floor. Before he was knocked out, Daniel had turned around and he could vaguely see Jack standing behind him with a ferocious expression on his face and blood dripping down the side of his head.

"Bastard," That was the last thing Daniel heard before his world turned dark.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hey, wake up you little runt, I don't have all day," Daniel's head was buzzing, but he felt as though someone was calling out to him from afar. The voice bellowed out rather harshly, but Daniel couldn't quite understand what it was saying, as his head was still spinning in circles as it slowly tried to piece itself together.

That voice. It sounds so familiar. Where have I heard it before? What's it saying?

"I said wake up!" The voice was louder this time, and even Daniel could tell that it was angry through all of his dizziness, however unlike the last time, this voice was accompanied by the sound of splashing water.

"AAAAaaaaaa," Jack had at some point grabbed a bucket, filled it with cold water, and then thrown it at Daniel while he was still trying to regain his wits. Daniel's mind instantly regained clarity, as he the cold water enveloped his body lightly.

"Liked that, princess? Yeah well don't worry too much there's more where that came from." Daniel eyes turned and looked for the source of the voice. Standing right in front of him was Jack, whose hands were still holding onto the bucket as he grinned at Daniel rather wickedly. That creepy smile sent shivers down Daniel's back, as he was faced this unusual security guard.

"Jack what are you doing?" Daniel had clearly forgotten who was in charge, as he questioned his captor in an angry tone.

"What am I doing? What are YOU doing? If I remember right, the park has already closed, and there's nobody supposed to be here. Also if I remembering things right, it was YOU who assaulted me with the dam broom first. Tell me who are you and why are you here, also who sent you to kill me? Just letting you know that I don't have all day, and things aren't going to look good for you if I don't get some answers quickly" Jack mocked Daniel, whose entire body was bound to a chair by the rope he had just brought in. The smile had already been wiped clean of Jack's face, as he faced Daniel with a serious and threatening expression.

Talk about digging your own grave, this guy is actually nuts! He might really kill me if I don't say anything.

Daniel thought that Jack's question was weird but right now he was just trying his best to stay alive. For now he thought that he should answer his questions and look for a way to escape later. "Kill you? Why would I want to kill you?" Daniel chucked nervously as tried to untie the bond that he his hands together.

Jack, as though he was infuriated by Daniel's answer, slapped him harshly. "You think you can play dumb with me. First you ambush me and when you come back you bring a rope that's a;ready been tied up like a noose. Why Daniel if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're trying to make this look like a suicide."

This... isn't this just too big of a misunderstanding. Daniel felt like crying, but no tears would come out. To think that the rope he had brought with him to tie Jack down, would be used on him instead, not to mention the huge misunderstanding it caused.

"Wait! This is just a huge misunderstanding, I swear I can explain everything. Let's just calm down for a second and I'll tell you everything." Daniel eyes faced Jack as he tried to slowly smooth over the misunderstanding.

"Misunderstanding my ass, as if I am going to be calm after you tried to kill me like this, you punk." Jack had once again brought his hand to 'greet' Daniel's face as he roared furiously.

'You're a punk, your mother is a punk, your entire family are punks,' Daniel complained internally, but he knew that if he actually said that, his face would once again get a visit from Jack's palm.

"Stop! Alright, just give me a second. The reason I'm here is because I live here. I've been living here for the past two days now, and you would've known that if you would've shown up for work, you bastard." Daniel didn't know what got into him, but as he said more and more he could feel the anger that had been bubbling up inside him rising as he berated Jack. "Also the reason I hit you with a mop, is because YOU showed up to MY house in the middle of the night."

Jack's fist dug into Daniel's stomach, as he was once again reminded who was really the boss around here. "Watch your tongue. Let's say I believe you, how does that explain the noose that you had when you came in."

Daniel coughed loudly and he tried to squeeze out the words that he had been trying to say this entire time. "This is just a misunderstanding. I wanted to find some rope to tie you down, but all I could find was that noose. This is a haunted house after all, so what did you expect?"

Jack took a step back as he thought about it for a second. Daniel's story made a lot of sense, and even now he wasn't fully convinced that he had been trying to kill him this entire time. Even if they had been trying to kill me, they wouldn't have sent this little runt after me. However, Jack wasn't about to forget the pain from being hit in the back of the head with a mop. He also didn't want to admit that he was wrong, so Jack decided to keep up the act going for a bit.

"Alright then genius, Why don't you tell me why I should believe you," Jack cracked his knuckles loudly before turning to face Daniel once again.

"I swear it's the truth, I don't know what else I can say," Daniel turned his head upwards as he looked towards the heavens.

I guess this is how it ends. Dad, let's play games just like the old times. Mom, I'd love to eat your cooking once again. Sister, your big brother is coming to get you.

Daniel's eye shed a single tear as he thought back to simpler times. Jack was dumbfounded as he stared at the man, who was supposed to be his boss, crying while looking so peacefully.

Did I go too far? Have I actually scared him silly? This is bad, I can't have everyone's eyes on me, not yet anyways, I still need more time. I need to fix this mess somehow.
