103 The First Update

As she stopped in front of a metal behemoth of a roller coaster, Dong Manman screamed with excitement, "Ahhh! Qiqi, this is the biggest and steepest roller coaster in all of Asia!"

She then added, "Do you know how famous it is? Do you know how many people come here every day from all over the world to ride it?"

But, as she looked at the long queues waiting to ride it, Dong Manman felt somewhat disappointed. She should have known that as popular as this roller coaster was, every morning when the park opened, the queue would start to form. By this time of the day, it had already snaked its way all the way to the next ride over!

Like An Qi, who had slept till late that morning and had only thought about the amusement park later on in the day, even if they were wait in line till the park closed, they would still not have a chance to ride this roller coaster, at least not today. As An Qi looked up at the giant thing that was towering above them in the sky, she thought to herself… Haha, how could there be so many people who are so desperate that they are willing to wait in line for this ride so long every day?

She was secretly so thankful that they had arrived too late. She knew that if she had to go on that ride, she would be vomiting so much that even An Yufei might not be able to recognize her after it was all said and done!

However, just as An Qi was about to leave with a disappointed Dong Manman in tow, Sheng Jie pulled out a work permit with a smug face and said, "Ahem… I believe that this is the perfect time to use my benefit as a member of the Leng Group's top management team. Manman, if you beg me, perhaps I will consider giving you chance to experience this ride even before others who are already in line."

Dong Manman's eyes were immediately filled with envy. Although she did not want to appear too fawning in front of Sheng Jie, the temptation of being able to ride the roller coaster was too big.

So, she humbled herself and bowed to her rival, then suggested politely, "Mr. Sheng, even if you don't do it for me, you should flash your pass quickly for the sake of your lady boss!"

Dong Manman's words sounded reasonable, and they almost made Sheng Jie feel ashamed for his previous words and actions. Damn it, I forgot An Qi is here, too.

Just as Sheng Jie was regretting that he should not have revealed the fact that he had a pass so soon, An Qi suddenly said, "Hey, why don't the two of you go ahead? I'm a little afraid of heights, so I'll just stay here. Besides, someone needs to stay and look after the bags."

"An Qi! How can you back out now?" Dong Manman was instantly dissatisfied, and she revealed this by placing one hand on her hip as she spoke.

At the same time, Sheng Jie raised his head, then turned to Dong Manman and asked, "So, what do you think?"

"Let's go!" As Dong Manman finished speaking, she pulled Sheng Jie away and headed for the control center.

As she watched them leave, An Qi shook her head and laughed at the "quarrelsome lovers," who seemed like they could not get enough of fighting with each other!

"Wow, these bags are really heavy!" Under the hot sun, An Qi struggled to move all of the things that Sheng Jie had been carrying into the shade, one at a time. With each move, she would sigh deeply.

From time to time, she would hear gleeful screams from high up in the sky. When she heard them, An Qi rubbed her ears and was glad she that had not followed them to the roller coaster ride.

I wonder if the two of them are among the group of people on that particular ride… An Qui wondered.

Then, As An Qi was bowing her head and looking through the latest online updates from her circle of friends on her phone, her fingertips stopped at the latest update regarding Leng Yuchen.

The heading read: "The weather is good and my mood is good..." The picture in the post was a picture that had been taken at the gate of the amusement park. If An Qi remembered correctly, that was the family picture that Dong Manman had taken of the three of them. In order to protect his family members, Leng Yuchen had only uploaded the first half of the picture.

An Qi was curious, so she looked at the web page that showed Leng Yuchen's circle of friends. The sight of it shocked so much that her jaw dropped. Leng Yuchen had never sent out any online messages to his circle of friends before. This was his first one, which meant that it had great significance.

Not only An Qi, but the whole Leng Group's top management team, who all had Leng Yuchen on their WeChat list, were all equally excited upon seeing this, and that all were conversing with one another about it...

"You guys, have you seen it? Boss Leng went to the new amusement park. You all should know... That's not our main project."

"Yes. In all honesty, at first, I was wondering if Boss Leng's WeChat account was hacked. It was only after further inquiry that I realized that he did not come to work, so this report must be true."

"Not only did Mr. Leng go, but Mr. Sheng must have also gone, as he did not come to work either. I wonder if this means that the next Leng Group investment will be closely related to the National Tourism industry?"

Leng Yuchen's small action had clearly set off a chain reaction and sparked the gossip train to start chugging along. Everyone was interpreting the picture and actions of their boss in all kinds of crazy ways.

On the other side, Leng Jin took out his mobile phone, his eyes glued on that update. It was ironic that, even though he was Leng Yuchen's elder brother, if he wanted to know anything about his brother's circle of friends, he had to rely on the information from the social media page of his fellow colleagues from the top management team.

"An amusement park? Yuchen, how would you think of going to such a place?" Leng Jin's mouth curled up into a vague smile as he murmured aloud, then dialed Gu Xiaonan's phone number.

"Vice President Leng?" An entire day had passed, yet there was still no news from Yu Hao's side. In such an unknown situation, Gu Xiaonan was going crazy, so as she answered the phone, the tension was evident in her voice.

As a result, Zeng Xuerou had to stop her work and go upstairs to comfort her daughter. But, just when her advice was displaying some small results, Leng Jin's call had interrupted them.

Upon receiving the call, Gu Xiaonan felt as if all of the clouds that had been over her head had immediately dispersed. "Erm, there's something personal that I needed to attend to, so I didn't come to work this the morning. Vice President Leng, if you have any plans, I'll come over now!" she said.

"Well, it's almost done. Besides, everything else is not as important as your affairs, right?" he said.

Gu Xiaonan laughed and was bursting with joy. As she hung up the phone, Zeng Xuerou gave the servants a look, and the servants immediately avoided her.

"Xiaonan, tell your mother the truth. Did Yu Hao leave without saying goodbye last night? Is this related to Vice President Leng?" she asked.

"No, he saw Boss Leng only once. Oh, let's not talk about this right now. Mom, would you like me to wear this dress to see Vice President Leng? Forget it! It's more formal and professional this way..." Gu Xiaonan's hands kept rummaging through the wardrobe, and she had no intention of answering Zeng Xuerou's question at all.

"Xiaonan, listen to your mother..." Zeng Xuerou said as she sat down on the bed beside Gu Xiaonan. "There are only two reasons why a person can't forget her old love. Either the time passed since the love affair ended is not long enough or the new love is not good enough."

"Mom, what are you talking about?" In the face of Zeng Xuerou's chatter, Gu Xiaonan seemed very impatient.

But, Zeng Xuerou remained very patient as she sat beside her daughter. In fact, she hated An Qi no less than Gu Xiaonan did, but she was such a patient person that she could remain calm down, keeping her feelings and emotions under control.
