33 Part-Time Model

An Qi did not remember how she and Leng Jin walked out of Strolling Through Tokyo under the glare of the waiter. Because of the misunderstanding just now, they would likely be added to the restaurant's blacklist and would not be able to return anytime soon.

An Qi glanced at her wristwatch. It was just a few minutes before midnight, far past the time when all of the people had dispersed from the commercial street.

When the wind blew, An Qi cringed reflexively. Leng Jin quickly stood in front of An Qi to block the wind.

"Shall I drive you back?" he asked as he unlocked his car with his remote. He then walked to his BMW mini and opened the door for An Qi.

"Is this your car?" An Qi asked as she looked at the tall Leng Jin, her eyes flashing with a trace of doubt.

"Why? Do you think I stole this car?" Leng Jin insisted that An Qi get in his car.

An Qi wanted to reject his offer, but just as she was about to speak, she saw someone hiding behind an old locust tree not far away. She thought that it was Gu Xiaonan, but she couldn't be certain.

Why would she be here? At this moment, An Qi did not have the energy to think about why Gu Xiaonan had appeared. She just sighed and got into Leng Jin's car, as she wanted to get as far away from Gu Xiaonan as she could!

An Qi told Leng Jin the address of the An family's old house, which stunned Leng Jin. After all, house prices in that neighborhood were not cheap, and only successful people lived there!

This made Leng Jin think… This girl is not only important to Leng Yuchen, but I could even use her family background to advance myself!

Thinking of that, Leng Jin sneered in the dark. Looking at all of these factors made Leng Jin determined to pursue her!

Halfway through the journey, Leng Jin turned the heater to its warmest setting. He then asked An Qi casually, "By the way, I wonder if Miss An Qi is interested in Dong Manman's suggestion?"

"You mean when she talked about part-time models?" An Qi asked.

"Yes, that's right." Leng Jin took his eyes off the road and looked at An Qi for a short moment. Then, he continued to concentrate on his driving.

An Qi laughed, "Can you believe what that girl said?"

Leng Jin shook his head. "I don't believe her, but I do believe what I see with my own eyes. An Qi, you are pretty and charming, but I noticed that you deliberately choose comfortable, flat shoes, in order to not call attention to yourself and to not have competition with other women around you."

As Leng Jin spoke, he looked at An Qi's feet. An Qi unconsciously swept her feet under the seat. She knew that Leng Jin was right, as even now, An Qi was wearing a pair of black ballet flat shoes.

"You shouldn't hide. I bet that there are at least seven pairs of the same shoes with different colors in your home..." he then added.

An Qi was flustered. Not counting the pair of black shoes that she was wearing at the moment, she had indeed bought all ten colors in this same series!

As she was so focused on their conversation, An Qi had not noticed that Leng Jin had slowed down the speed of the car, thus giving him the chance to talk to her a little longer.

"But, that should not be the reason why I have to work for you." An Qi's attention shifted from her shoes to Leng Jin's face as she replied.

The focused look on Leng Jin's face was compatible with the cute guy's description in her memory, the one who held her hand and ran. Leng Jin gripped the steering wheel and made a sudden turn, causing the car to turn into a lane. He then stopped at the side of the road.

"Dong Manman told me that you will only be working part-time. Lately, I have been dreaming about the details of the kidnapping. If we were to communicate more often, it might help me remember why you were involved in the kidnapping."

It felt warm in the car, and that, coupled with the heat that was coming from Leng Jin's intense eyes, caused An Qi to feel dizzy and lightheaded. An Qi did not realize that all of this was part of Leng Jin's plan. For the remainder of their journey, Leng Jin did not make any further requests, as he knew that some people, things, and feelings took more time to cajole.

After arriving at home, An Qi went to her room in the dark. Under the moonlight, she saw An Yufei's sleeping face. At that moment, nothing in the world mattered more to her than her daughter's smiling face.

In the dark, An Yufei turned around and looked at An Qi, who was changing into her pajamas. An Yufei then asked sleepily, "Mom, are you back? Did the appointment go well?"

When An Qi was only halfway changed, she heard her daughter speak to her. She stunned and froze for a moment.

An Yufei then jumped out of bed and turned on the bedroom lamp, lighting up the whole room and leaving An Qi with no place to hide.

An Qi had not been prepared for her daughter to awaken, so she stood there, not knowing whether to continue changing her clothes or not. Moreover, whenever she moved, she felt a pain in her head. She did not know what had happened.

"Mom, what did you eat this evening? You have been out of my sight for 16 hours, yet you have put on so much weight that you can't even take off your clothes!" An Yufei squinted her eyes as she looked at An Qi's belly and laughed.

"That is not funny!" An Qi stamped her foot upon hearing her daughter's comment.

After all, during her meetup with Leng Jin, An Qi had actually not feasted on any delicacies! In the first half of their meetup, An Qi had racked her brains in order to help brainstorm ideas for Dong Manman's business. Little did she know that she was the little rabbit that was walking into a trap that had been set for her by an old fox!

During the second half of the meetup, An Qi had just been speechless. This was because Leng Jin, the cute guy, had just revealed to her the truth about the kidnapping, which had not been reported!

Rumble…

As An Qi was recalling what had happened earlier that night, her stomach finally protested with a low rumble. An Yufei moved a chair over and stood on it, making her the same height as An Qi. She then began helped her mother change out of her dinner clothes.

"Mom, don't move around so much! A hairpin is hooked on your clothes!" the young girl protested.

"See! It's not because I'm fat! It's because of my hairpin!" An Qi shouted, feeling vindicated.

An Yufei rolled her eyes. "Your hairpin is tightly tangled in your hair. If I don't cut the hair around it, I can't help you!"

An Yufei's little hand was constantly tugging at An Qi's hair, and An Qi could feel the tension in her scalp.

Hearing this, An Qi wailed and clasped her hands together in a begging gesture. "Please, don't cut my hair! If I lose such a big bunch of hair, my scalp will surely show a bald patch!"

"Well, then I'll have to cut the hairpin in half." Just when An Yufei was about to do so, An Qi shouted for her to stop.

"No! That's a very precious item to me!" An Qi's distressed hands were waving frantically.

"Fine, but can you at least tell me about your appointment today?" An Yufei asked, while she pouted her lips.

If Sheng Jie could see the expression on An Qi's face as she replied, his mind would surely be filled with Leng Yuchen's unhappy face…
