46 Non-Toxic Herbaceous Snake

An Qi was neither a saint nor a two-faced b*tch. She also did not have the right to weigh in on the decisions that Leng Jin made, nor did she wish to.

The people who were watching the spectacle just now did not have anything good to say about her, but he'd gone a little overboard, getting offended and wanting to fire them all! Dong Manman's dream man was not as good-tempered as he at first appeared to be!

"Mr. Leng, thank you for helping me out tonight. I'll invite you to dinner another day, but for right now, we must leave." As she spoke, An Qi gave Shi Zhiwen a look, which he understood immediately and followed her. She didn't even give Leng Jin the chance to offer to send her home.

When they arrived at the An family's old house, it was brightly lit. An Qi's head hung down feebly, as she was exhausted both physically and mentally.

However, unexpectedly, she'd come home to see An Yufei's grieved expression, and her fighting spirit soared as she rushed over to her daughter immediately. Like a mama dog guarding her pup, she pulled An Yufei behind her and looked warily at the three people in front of them.

She then asked in a cold voice, "You're all still awake at this hour? What has happened?"

Even after several days of them all getting along with each other, An Qi was still aware of Gu Xiaonan's and her mother's tricky ways. Also, she believed that her clever and honest An Yufei would never do anything out of the ordinary.

Even so, An Qi had to wonder… Isn't An Yufei being strangely quiet now?

An Qi turned her head doubtfully to see that An Yufei was pressing her lips tightly together. Anyone could clearly see that she'd just experienced a huge shock.

An Qi was used to seeing An Yufei's casual and stress-free expression, so she had to wonder… How much did my child suffer to have such an expression on her face at this moment?

Thinking of this, An Qi suddenly became furious, and she did not even wait for the others' explanations before she brought An Yufei directly in front of An Shi Jie.

"Dad, what's the matter?" she asked, still confused about what in the world was going on.

"Qiqi, see for yourself!" An Shi Jie said as he turned away and pointed to the big box that was behind him.

An Qi looked at it and immediately shrank back in horror. The large box was filled with herbaceous snakes, and their tongues were sticking out as they squirmed around and hissed!

An Qi's voice trembled as she asked, "What do you mean by showing me this? Take it away! Did you forget that there's a child here?"

"Qiqi, you are being too dramatic. After all, these are the most common herbaceous snakes from the hilltop. They are not poisonous." Zeng Xueru explained to An Qi like she was an expert.

"No matter if the snakes are poisonous or not, it's wrong to bring these things inside our home! Dad, what were you thinking?" An Qi turned to her father and asked.

An Shi Jie hesitated for a long time, then finally decided to tell his daughter his version of the truth, "Qiqi, these snakes were found in An Yufei's room. We have already scolded her. After all, children are not sensible, and they need to be taught lessons when they misbehave. So, you don't need to scold her anymore."

When An Shi Jie said that, An Qi's eyes grew bigger and bigger. This was not because the truth was hard for her to take in, but it was because her father had believed Zeng Xuerou's words, immediately placing the blame on An Yufei.

Gu Xiaonan, who had been watching the scene unfold, covered her mouth and snickered. "Hmph! So what if big young master helped you? It's still my mother's world when we're in this home!"

Gu Xiaonan and Zeng Xueru had planned to kill An Qi at the Leng Group, then set up An Yufei by using the snaked in the old house. They wanted to make An Shi Jie think that An Yufei was a bad child, who had attracted the herbaceous snakes into the home and killed her mother! In this way, they'd be able to kill the other An family members too!

It was a pretty perfect plan. Unfortunately, there was an accident regarding the plan for An Qi, and Gu Xiaonan had failed to stay composed, thus exposing Yu Hao in advance.

However, the appearance of Yu Hao had not humiliated An Qi. Instead, Gu Xiaonan had only humiliated herself.

Finally, she had chosen to rely on her mother's strategy to push An Qi's anger to the edge. After all, she had never been a mother, so she did not know how fierce a mother could become when she felt that her child had been wronged.

A prime example of this was An Qi's present reaction to the situation at hand. After staring at An Shi Jie's face for a few seconds, she suddenly laughed crazily as she slowly put An Yufei down.

She then looked at everyone present and said coldly, "Hmph, this is no longer the An family house that I used to live in. I don't think it's necessary for me and An Yufei to stay here any longer!"

"Qiqi, what are you going to do?" An Shi Jie immediately asked.

His voice caused An Qi's hand, which was holding An Yufei's hand, to tighten its grip. Then, her tone became indifferent and cold and she replied, "Dad, you can rest assured that I won't leave the city. If you miss us, you can call us anytime. But, we really don't want to stay here any longer."

"But Qiqi, it's so late now. Where will you go tonight?" An Shi Jie asked as he looked up at the moon.

Although he was concerned about them, An Qi noticed that he did not ask them to stay. An Qi's heart suddenly grew cold. Her father had really changed, and not for the better.

"Well, I was born and bred in this city, so you don't have to worry about us." After saying that, An Qi led An Yufei upstairs.

When she'd returned downstairs with their luggage, An Qi found that An Shi Jie had left without saying a word! Five years ago, she had snuck out of the hospital bathroom without telling her father.

Now, five years later, she was leaving home in, but there was no one here to send her off. This was too ironic.

As they walked along the stony road, the street lamp elongated the shadows of An Qi and her daughter. The street seemed endless at the moment, and the exhausted pair felt as if they would never be able to walk to the end of it.

When the careless An Qi had gone upstairs to get her luggage, she had seen that they were standing there quietly at the door, but she didn't notice anything unusual.

It was only An Yufei, who was holding hands with her, who knew exactly what had happened...
