48 Glaucoma and Cataracts

Just when An Qi felt like she was going to be suffocated, Leng Yuchen reluctantly let go of her. Due to his powerful status as president of the Leng Group, An Qi knew that it would not be wise for her to go against him, but she really couldn't muster up any favorable feelings for this rich kid!

In fact, if it hadn't have been for An Yufei's presence, she might have kicked him directly in the crotch right then and there! However, as An Qi stared at Leng Yuchen with a furious gaze, he lowered his head and said a few words that extinguished An Qi's fury immediately...

"Ha! From your angry and unfamiliar gaze, I'm guessing that you've forgotten all that happened at Night Bar, right?" he asked with a smile.

Night Bar! Those two words were the nightmare of An Qi's whole life. It was no exaggeration to say that her life would never have been what it is if it wasn't for the accident.

And, it was precisely because of that accident that she had her little baby An Yufei. So, life was always full of unknowns and surprises!

As this man had brought her both her best gift, as well as the most shame and embarrassment of her life, An Qi really didn't know whether to hate him or to thank him. So, An Qi had an unbelievable expression on her face, as she simply did not know how to react.

"How are you, Miss An Qi?" Leng Yuchen asked. Just as he had expected, An Qi was stunned upon finally recognizing who he was.

Sheng Jie immediately jumped out and tried to smooth things over between the two of them.

"Mr. Sheng, why are you here?" An Qi asked. Sure enough, she had calmed down a lot after she saw her old acquaintance.

"Have you forgotten that I am Boss Leng's assistant? Wherever Boss Leng goes, then I'll naturally be there as well," Sheng Jie grinned as he replied. He seemed to be quite proud of his position beside Leng Yuchen.

"Oh... So you guys are in that kind of a relationship..." An Qi nodded her head as if she knew something secret as she looked back at them with an extremely suggestive gaze.

Leng Yuchen's eyes were as dark as black ink as he thought… This da*n woman! She'd really dare to talk about anything crazy in order to divert attention away from herself!

"Miss An Qi, I think you've misunderstood me. Since you know me from our past at the Night Bar, how could I possibly have that kind of a relationship with him?" Leng Yuchen did not want to beat around the bush with her anymore.

After all, finding out that Gu Xiaonan was the culprit who wanted to harm An Qi was the limit of his patience. Now, Leng Yuchen was determined that he would date An Qi.

"Haha, have I been exposed?" An Qi laughed awkwardly, while totally ignoring Leng Yuchen's icy face. Then, she suddenly turned around, picked up An Yufei, and ran away.

An Yufei's face was full of helplessness as she ran. Unfortunately for her, this time, since it was related to her blood relative, An Yufei would not let her mother slip away so easily.

Hence, while An Qi wasn't paying attention, An Yufei tried to move her center of gravity downward. As An Yufei now weighed more than 30 kilograms, An Qi found it nearly impossible to run far while carrying her in such a position.

Sure enough, An Yufei's antics slowed An Qi's escape considerably, and in the end, she only managed to make it about ten meters away from Leng Yuchen's point of view.

In order not to startle An Qi, Leng Yuchen quietly approached her from behind, then whispered in her ear, "An Qi, escaping is not the way. I noticed you from the first day you came to the Leng Group, but there was a huge omission in your contract at that time, and in order for me to be able to find the person who tried to harm you, I have been unable to reunite with you until now."

As Sheng Jie listened to Boss Leng's affectionate narrative, he was so agitated that he almost started to cry. He was shocked as he wondered… Who knew that the usually cold Boss Leng would have such an unexpectedly tender side?

Sheng Jie was thankful to An Qi for letting him see this unknown side of Boss Leng. Although no one would believe him if he told them, when this side of his boss was on full display in front of Sheng Jie, it was as if a halo had immediately appeared on Leng Yuchen's head!

"Contract? Did you sign a contract with the Leng Group, mom? Why didn't you tell me about this?" An Qi was still trying to figure out how to refute Leng Yuchen, when the sensitive An Yufei managed to grasp the key focus of the matter.

An Qi squatted down to her daughter's level and said, "Silly child, you don't understand. Adults must sign labor contracts when they go to work, just like the contract mommy signed at Auntie Sun's office. Do you remember Auntie Sun, who I mentioned to you before? She's the grandmother with lots of snacks!"

"Mom, why do you always focus on things like snacks, but can't remember things like the contract, which is clearly more important?" An Yufei asked.

At this time, she noticed that, ever since Leng Yuchen had appeared, she felt kin to him. It was also the first time she'd ever really felt a sense of security. This awareness made An Yufei feel inexplicably relaxed, and she determined then and there that she would not pretend to be naïve when talking to An Qi.

"I've looked through the contract. It's a very ordinary part-timer contract. There's nothing special about it." An Qi replied, clearly not concerned.

In her eyes, her daughter had always been a maverick existence, and she had doubts that it was because of An Yufei's father, now that she thought about it. At that moment, An Qi knew that her thoughts were starting to wander again.

She knew that couldn't veer off topic at such a time, so An Qi shook her head and tried to snap out of her daydreams. When she had calmed down and got her head on straight again, she felt that the things that Leng Yuchen had said were not that simple. After all, there was no need for a president of his status to come and waste his time with such a small character as her!

"How can you prove that there is something wrong with the contract?" An Qi asked.

"Sheng Jie." Leng Yuchen called Sheng Jie over. He seemed to have been waiting for An Qi to ask that question.

"Yes, here you go." Sheng Jie walked over and switched on his tablet. Soon, An Qi's contract came into view.

After An Qi looked it over a few times, she said, "Yes, that's the contract. When Auntie Sun gave it to me that day, I read it several times as well."

"Are you sure?" Sheng Jie asked as he grinned awkwardly for some unknown reason.

"Yes... I'm certain. That's the contract," she insisted once again.

"But, look here..." Sheng Jie pointed to a specific area in the contract.

As An Qi's eyes followed Sheng Jie's finger to the fine print at the bottom of the contrast, she couldn't help but read the sentence in question aloud, "If the signatory is expelled by the Leng Group, he or she will automatically renounce all inheritance rights."

Oh my god, do I have glaucoma or cataracts? An Qi couldn't imagine how she hadn't noticed the fine print when she'd signed the contract! She thought for sure that it must have been added to the contract after she'd signed it!
