18 A Hairpin

"Little Yuchen, aren't you quite afraid of spiders? If such a big one falls into your collar, I'm afraid that you'll overturn the roof of the house tonight!" Leng Jin opened his palm as she laughed at Leng Yuchen.

Leng Yuchen gave Leng Jin an annoyed look and asked, "Are you too bored or something?"

Then, he put his hands in his trousers pocket, and asked, "Big brother, do you really think that I forgot that I am most afraid spiders in this whole world?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Leng Yuchen whistled the same tune that Leng Jin had when he had first arrived, ten went away with a swagger. All that remained was a bitter smile on Leng Jin's face and a hairpin in his palm.

As soon as Leng Yuchen left, the big and small shareholders behind Leng Jin immediately came forward and surrounded him. Leng Jing had gone abroad for many years, without ever sending any news. At one time, there was a rumor that Leng Jin was suffering from an illness and was about to die.

It was during those years that Leng Yuchen, who had graduated from M University, began to expand his territory in the Leng Group. In the beginning, no one paid much attention to the second young master.

In fact, people often said that Leng Tianlong had worked hard for first half of his life, so now it was time for him to simply enjoy life. Unexpectedly, his elder son was not around and his younger son was incompetent. As such, many predicted that the Leng Group would be doomed.

Many people who gossiped in this way were the exact people who could not wait to see the Leng Group's business decline. After all, the Leng Group had ruled the city for a long time, and all that time, the covetous mentality of others was far more intense than the mentality of fair competitors.

But, as it turns out, under the management of Leng Yuchen, within six months, the business had recovered all of its previous losses! In that year, the Leng Group was the supreme ruler. As such, the disparity between them and others was huge.

It was also that year that Leng Yuchen's name was first published in E Magazine, and his name continued to have been published in it for the last seven years, making him the second person after Leng Tianlong to be published in the magazine consecutively for more than five years. However, his achievements and records could still potentially be broken by his elder brother.

In the An Family's old house…

An Yufei, with the permission of An Shijie, held up her floral skirt and ran quickly towards the backyard. On the other side of the house, upon stepping into the house, An Qi instantly felt a sense of hostility.

After all, there was not a single servant with whom she was familiar with, and even the sapling that she and her mother had planted had disappeared. In its place, she saw several bug Calliopsis, which surprised her, as An Qi was quite allergic to the plant.

In fact, when she had once fallen ill due to a reaction from contact with the plant, in order to cure An Qi, An Shijie had spent a lot of money and effort, going to great lengths to procure a booster injection for her.

In fact, it was at that time that the relationship between the father and daughter had started to sour. So, even after An Qi was cured, there was still an unspoken rule in her home that no Chrysanthemum-related plants were allowed.

If it had not been for An Shijie, who was still beside her, An Qi would have thought that the old house had been sold to an outsider. Apparently, An Shijie did not expect such a dramatic change in his house to have occurred either, as he had only been out for a single afternoon!

"Why are these big Calliopsis here?" An Shijie shouted at the housekeeper as she happened to pass by.

"Master? But... Madam, she..." At first, the housekeeper was slightly shocked to hear An Shijie's question. After all, since his wife had married him, the old man had not asked about the trifles in the house for years.

The word "madam" sounded particularly unpleasant to An Qi's ears. After all, 20 years had passed since the death of her mother, and during this period, An Qi had tried to persuade An Shijie to remarry. But, he always said that he would wait until she got married first. Then, unexpectedly, during the five years since she left, her father did remarry.

After being greeted with such a sight, An Qi was admittedly keen to meet the "madam."

An Shijie did not expect for the housekeeper to mention Zeng Xuerou, as he had wanted to stay with An Qi for little longer before having to explain all of this to her. However, this had happened…

"I'm asking you a question! You knew that young madam is allergic to these flowers, yet you placed so many here! Have you lost your mind? Quickly send someone to move them out!" he yelled.

An Shijie seemed to be using this scolding to hide something. Unfortunately, he had tried too hard, which did not escape An Qi's notice.

After the housekeeper acknowledged what she was being told with a quick nod, he quickly went to the backyard to allocate the required manpower, his heart full of unspoken criticism.

It would be tough for four or five people to move the flowerpot, and as he toiled and labored in moving it, he thought...

It seems that madam was right indeed! This young madam is the reincarnation of the god of plagues! The minute she has returned, she's already making us work so hard. She even got us scolded!

After the housekeeper had removed the plant and left, An Qi sighed. She seemed to be deliberating hard upon her next words. An Shijie looked at his daughter, fearful that she would ask that sensitive question...

At this time, An Yufei returned. Beads of perspiration could be seen on her forehead and nose, revealing that she must have been running around anxiously. An Qi did not react in time to hold back An Yufei, whose little red shoes were covered with mud from the backyard.

Hence, she stepped all over the luxurious cashmere carpet, while tracking mud stains everywhere! The witty granddaughter had not only delighted her grandpa with her whimsy and curiosity, but she had also unknowingly given An Shijie a good chance to change the topic!

"Qiqi, children of this age are exploring the world, so don't you restrict her! It is no big deal that the carpet is dirty, as we can always throw it away. But, if you miss her childhood moments like these, it will be too late to turn back the clock."

After An Qi heard her father's words, she smiled and gave in, letting An Yufei "paint" on the cashmere carpet with mud instead of interfering. Meanwhile, on the third floor, a woman dressed in a Chinese costume was holding the handrail of the winding staircase. Her hand were tightly gripping the wood as she trembled with anger.

After all, that carpet had been purchased in Turkey on her honeymoon with the old man!
