1 Prologue: Life is a misfortune

South Korea, 2020 March 4th

It was late at night and within the central district of Gangnam there stood a tall building.

It was a royal suit that for which only the upper class could afford to enter.

As I looked around I shook my head at the disturbing atmosphere.

I could not get used to such a stifling place.

My eyes quickly found the reception as I walked over.

The other counters were busy with others so I simply walked to someone free.

"Excuse me, my name is Kim Soo Hyun. I made a reservation," I said.

"Ah, Kim Soo Hyun. We have you registered here are your keys."

"Thank you," I said briefly before heading towards the elevator.

As an elevator was about to close I quickly caught up entering as I apologized for delaying.

There were 2 other people inside that seemed to be a couple.

"Oopa stop, there's someone else here."

"It's fine he's not looking and besides he wouldn't mind."

My lips twitched as I held the urge to say something, thankfully the elevator came to a stop as the couple left.

Praying that no more disturbances would arrive I came to the highest floor as I thanked the Gods.

I quickly found my room and entered the keys quickly.

I was greeted by a spacious room with a bed too big for one person and too luxurious for a man of common birth.

I opened the curtains to find a breathtaking view of Gangnam city from high up.

Enjoying the view I opened the windows as cold wind blasted against my face from high altitudes.

Hardly minding it I continued to stand there as I reminisced about my life.

My parents had died in my final year of high school on my graduation day.

Orphaned I used the money my parents left me to squeeze by at a community college and graduated with a master's in business.

After grudging through those years in college I finally entered the workforce only to deal with unreasonable superiors and frequently spent days of overtime.

Still I managed to continue for a couple more years until I was luckily promoted due to outstanding effort.

Bathing in happiness I thought this would finally be when I would turn it around but God was not so kind to me.

Then one day one of the directors son a fourth generation Chaebol was groping a female employee that worked in my team so I rushed in and stopped him accidentally causing him to fall over and get injured.

Afterwards it became known to public that certain female employees in the company were victim to sexual harassment and to satisfy the public they pushed the blame onto me.

Despite my heavy protests without any solid evidence I was labeled guilty at an unfair trial where the judge had most likely been bribed.

Unable to find new work elsewhere due to my tarnished image I continued a deranged lifestyle for a few months.

One day while browsing the Internet I found web novels, essentially fantasies that held no hope of coming true.

Still they brought hope to somebody with no dreams or ambitions like me.

I quickly binged many of them until I decided to write some on my own.

At first it didn't go well and I received many hateful comments but I continued to improve.

In the end I managed to make quite a name for myself in the writing industry.

However I soon realized I stopped improving and instead focused on helping other authors improve.

I consulted popular authors on how they could improve their storyline or writing.

Eventually I became known as the God of Webnovels, albeit exaggerated.

Sighing I took out a cigarette as I smoked staring out at the starry sky.

After I finished I sat down deciding to finish the last chapter of the Web Novel I felt most remorseful about.

It was a typical story about the Rise of a Hero protagonist but the world building was done well and the other characters were also extremely well done.

However halfway through there were many plot line holes and the author was no longer able to continue the inconsistently of a realistic world with an unrealistic sense of justice.

The world and the main character essentially clashed ruining the story.

Finished I sighed feeling rueful about the potential of the story.

"If only I could change it," I said.

I turned off my phone as I yawned.

Heading over to my bed I decided I would sleep early today.

As I woke up I noticed a few strange things.

First was that a woman was carrying me while looking at me lovingly.

I felt uncomfortable bearing the brunt of affection after being alone for so many years.

Another thing was that I couldn't move and that I was extremely small.

"Was this a dream," I thought.

"It's alright nobody will hurt you."

Confused I looked at the woman but she simply smiled.

Suddenly a man burst in with eyes full of panic fear and despair he looked at me and the woman.

"Lee Jae-yong has betrayed me."

The woman looked at me as tears filled her eyes.

This was too realistic to be a dream. I looked into the woman's eyes as my heart felt a tinge of pain.

The man stood in front of us seemingly ready to confront any enemies that would approach.

Without any suspense the door broke as two dark figures walked in.

I was unable to confirm their face or gene set but one of them seemed young.

They simply gazed at us confirming we were there targets and the next second I opened my eyes I was shocked.

The man that tried to protect me was dead and the woman was barely alive on her last breath.

Unable to process what just happened I saw the woman put her hand on my face.

"Son, your name is Kang Dae."

As her eyes closed to never open again.

An unspeakable sorrow filled my heart as I gazed upon the woman, she was my mom.

As tears escaped my eyes the smaller of the two assailants came near me as I saw the symbol of a snake.

Afraid I closed my eyes awaiting my fate but demise never called me.

Suddenly sleepiness overcame me and the next time I woke up I was in a warm crib.

"This wasn't a dream was it," I said.

10 years had passed since then and I had come to learn many things about this world.

This was without a doubt the world based on the book I had read.

I was exactly the same age as the protagonist and whatever transient being could do this I could not even fathom.

For the first couple of years I questioned how this could happen but I quickly stopped and decided I would do my best in this world until I found a way to my old world.

However this wasn't like the world I lived on before.

Dangers lurked everywhere and one would need power to survive.
