1 Unknowingly Creating And Customizing Your Own New Body

"Hm~" humming, I did what I usually do at 1 in the morning - I scrolled through many different sites, looking at things that caught my interest. Just a second ago I was researching how to make a crossbow. Pretty fun stuff...I mean, when you're bored out of your mind, that is. But as I clicked on a certain website, my laptop froze.

I clicked again. Nothing. I clicked once more. Nothing.

"...For god's sake. You better not be broken, you bloody machine--!" just as I was cursing at it while trying to make it load via my mind and determination...the laptop closed down all my tabs and opened a new one.

I wasn't particularly bothered that it took out all the tabs, just curious at what kind of virus had gotten into my laptop. But looking at the tab that had opened, I raised an eyebrow and scratched at my beard when I saw what it was called.

[Skyrim Character Creator: Create The Perfect Character For You!]

Chuckling, I wondered how viruses had gotten so clever lately; I'd searched up an ungodly amount of Skyrim stuff on this computer. But, the more I thought about it, the less this seemed like a virus. It was too...clean. Too well done. The font, the layout of the website...it was all too well-done.

Scrolling through the website, I saw that it went into degrees of character customization you'd only see in D&D.

It was bizarre. But also oddly exciting. I'd always wanted to make an OC for Skyrim and this website seemed to be some kind of Mod for it. Scrolling back up to the top of the website, I started filling out the boxes with what I wanted.

Name. Check.

Age. Check.

Race...I wonder what kind of race I want to be. The race would really change how the character acts. If I choose a Nord he'll be a big, strong idiot, while if I choose a Breton, they'll be slightly prideful and pompous. But mainly, it'll affect the playstyle of the character. Nords are typical warriors, just like Orcs and Redguards are. While Breton and Altmer are typical mages.

Though of course you can play whatever you want, no matter what you are. But for the sake of keeping it all canon-compatible and in the groove of just having some fun, let's design a character that could actually exist. Not a Wood Elf who's got 100 in Two-Handed and can overpower a Nord who absolutely dwarfs them--

Wait a minute...what's that? Hybridization? Well, that's pretty cool.

Continuing to read down the racial box, I found that there were races you couldn't even traditionally be in Skyrim. I found Troll, Giant, hell, I even found Horse in the list of what I could be. But my eye kept getting drawn back to the Hybridization option. So I clicked it, and once I did, the list closed and two boxes opened up under the box with Hybridization in it.

They were styled like such:

[*Input Maternal Race Here*]

[*Input Paternal Race Here*]

Being a fanboy for them, I put my Maternal Race as Nord before looking through every single one of the races for my Paternal Race. I looked every each and every one of them and tried to figure out what I wanted to make the best character for me. I had Orc or Redguard in mind for a while because I wanted to try and make the perfect warrior, then I came across one I hadn't thought would be on here. After seeing Horse, I don't know why I was particularly surprised to see it though.

Dremora. Or, to themselves, the Kyn, are a form of humanoid Daedra. They serve Mehrunes Dagon, although they do serve other Daedric Princes. I'd probably say they're the most humanoid of the Daedric Princes servants. They have a very militaristic culture, with many ranks and subdivisions within the culture of each clan; they're the warriors for the Daedric Army, if I had to put it anyway.

They're complete beasts, honestly.

A Nord-Dremora Hybrid...pretty cool, in my opinion.

Picking that as the option, I moved onto the next option; what my class would be. I found this weird as there aren't any classes in Skyrim but I shrugged it off as more of a guideline for how the character would attack and what kind of skills it would have.

Even then, having the class option in front of me only made me think even more that someone had merged a Skyrim Character Creator and a D&D Character Creator together.

Going through all the classes, I pretty quickly came across a class I thought was perfect for what I wanted - the perfect warrior, that is - and clicked on it. Weirdly enough, more boxes popped up with more questions. So I got to filling them out.

The class I picked was Weapon Master. How would I describe a Weapon Master...well, a Weapon Master is a warrior whose legendary status has been maintained throughout the years, and whose legendary exploits could fill enough books to satisfy even the greatest of libraries. A Weapon Master is a skillful fighter who can use any weapon to its utmost level of perfection and treat it as if it were an extension of their body, enhancing their natural combat prowess beyond the limits of a normal soldier. They're the perfect warrior, literally.

The next box was pretty easy for me to fill out.

[Preferred Weapon: Halberd]

What? Halberds are fucking awesome. An axe AND a spear, all in one. Do I need to say anything more? If I do, you might not have heard me when I said it's two weapons rolled into one.

After this was a Sub Class slot and when I clicked on it, there were some classes that were grayed out because of me picking Weapon Master for my main class. Figures. Well, it mainly took away Mage Classes, so my perfect warrior idea is still intact. Thankfully. Scrolling through the list, I laughed as I came across a class that would round me up quite well.

[Sub Class: Martial Artist]

After that there were a punch of other boxes I had to fill in - it never bloody ends, does it? - but I filled them in pretty quickly. It was mainly about what kind of fighting style I wanted to use. It gave me three options:

Combat Mastery, Tactics Mastery, and Evasive Mastery. That was for Weapons Master, and Martial Artist was between Hard, Soft, Aggressive, Tempered, Active, and Reactive. You had to pick three and I quickly picked mine to fit well together.

I picked Combat Mastery which was followed by the description that went like [The Combat Mastery archetype specializes in combat techniques of raw physical power honed to deadly perfection. Those who model themselves on this archetype combine rigorous training with physical excellence to deal devastating blows in combat]. Followed by Hard, Aggressive, and Soft.

Hard Style being something that focuses the power of the body outward, culminating it in powerful strikes that damage the enemy. Aggressive flow focuses on giving out an unrelenting assault, often attempting to overwhelm the enemy by denying them the time to recover. While Soft flow is the opposite of Hard flow and focuses the power of the body inward to cause internal damage.

With all of this I was...deadly to the extreme.

A walking killing machine.

The perfect warrior.

What was left now was to customize the appearance. Oh, and sort out the background for my character. Clicking onto the hair color, I clicked my tongue when only one color appeared: Black. It seems my characters parentage was affecting my appearance. Hopefully picking Dremora didn't mess up my appearance too much.

Accepting my characters fate, I clicked black before going onto eye color where I saw a few more colors than on hair color.

Looking through the colors, I finally decided on metallic grey before moving onto skin color.

Seeing the multitude of tones and colors in this section that were still usable, I was surprised but didn't think too much of it. Maybe having a Nord woman as my mother gave me more access to my Nord genes or something? Then why couldn't I have blond hair? Weird.

Clicking on the healthy white option before a picture that looked a little too realistic to be running on my old laptop appeared below the options. Along the side were height, weight, and body type boxes.

Quickly I went through the height - putting in 6'4" -, the weight - putting in 103kg -, before picking the compact, yet incredibly shredded body type.

Once that was done, I edited the face and gave him a well-trimmed black beard.

In the end, he looked pretty goddamn handsome if I do say so myself.

Going onto the background after admiring my new character in all his badassery and muscles, I quickly filled in that the character was a Nord born of a Dremora and a Nordic Warrior, who was abandoned after he was born due to his mother not exactly being accepting of the Dremora's advances...if you get my meaning. He raised himself in the wild, fighting wild animals and eating them if he won or running away and healing if he lost.

After being in the wilds for 10 years straight and doing a good job surviving, he was taken in my an old man who taught him the Way of the Weapon Master, while at the same time, the Nord reviewed how he fought off the wild beasts in the wild - with his bare fists and body.

For the next 15 years, the Nord spent time training and the last 5 years of that 15, traveling around Tamriel, growing as a warrior and as a unarmed fighter.

All until one day he was crossing over into Skyrim from Hammerfell when he was caught up in an ambush by two massive squads of Imperials who were there for Ulfric Stormcloak.

The Nord was strong, due to both his Nordic Blood and the Dremora Blood running through his veins, but he was still no match for 30+ Imperial Elites. His inexperience was still great despite his many travels. But this is just the start of where he will grow to be more.

...And that was his background. I quickly filled in some personality traits and tried to mirror my own personality.

I had to pick four positive traits and three negative traits. So, for the former, I picked Calm, Confident, Brave, and Charming. While for the latter, I picked Lustful, Battle Maniac, and Glutton.

...Okay, I didn't exactly mirror my own personality onto the characters. But in my defense, this is what I would want to be if I could chose what I was. I would like to be calm enough to deal with any situation with rationale. Brave enough, and confident enough in my abilities, to charge at dozens of enemies to save someone close to me. And of course, charming enough to woo the ladies.

While I was actually quite lustful. Not in the way that I was a pervert but just that I had a high libido. Same with Glutton - I just liked to eat, okay?

Battle Maniac just fit with the character I was creating, honestly.

Annnnd I was done. A lot of boxes to fill, but still, a fun little way to pass the time. Clicking the save button, I was just about to try and load up a new tab so I could go back to searching through the web for something fun...when everything went black.

When everything started to get light again, it also got cold, and windy.

"Hey, you," I heard a voice with an accent I was all too familiar with, "Seems you're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there," as the voice started talking, I opened my eyes fully, only to see a blond man dressed as a Stormcloak...no, he was a Stormcloak.

A man, next to me, with dark brown hair spat at the blond man, his mouth morphed into a snarl with his teeth bared, "Damn you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along."

Holy shit. I'm in Skyrim.

A strand of black hair came into my vision and I quickly looked down and saw the robust, muscular body I'd made in that character creator.

...Holy shit. I'm in Skyrim...as the character I created. Luckily I made him pretty strong and not a joke character. I'd be crying my eyes out if I made a bard or some other kind of wimpy character--Wait, I'm on my way to my own execution, which gets interrupted by a Dragon! Oh shit! Shit, shit, shittity shit shit!"

Then, I was put into overdrive as decades worth of memories filled my head and I felt my personality getting changed. I wasn't getting replaced but I was definitely changing.

I was becoming the character I created.

...Shit.
