13 We Need a Ship

I didn't want to spend another week on that ship if I had to so the first goal I had was to get a new ship. The problem was that we had nowhere near enough money to buy a good one. I wasn't going to be buying a premium ship but I definitely needed something that would hold up in a space battle. I actually wasn't a huge fan of flying in space because I have insane magic ninja powers but I still need to breathe.

I thought about it for a bit, then an idea popped into my head. I'm sure Jedi aren't supposed to cheat at gambling with the force, but there are no rules about using chakra. With that in mind I had to ask around, leaving Eve on the ship I headed towards a small cantina that I had seen. And with my pockets a bit lighter and my head feeling a bit buzzed, I walked out with a good location to start.

###

It was another 3 days in the ship to get to where we were headed. We slipped out of hyperspace and stopped playing with my chakra strings. What met us was a large blue-green planet with two visible moons. This was the planet of Elerion and it was supposedly one of the best places to gamble your life away. I put the ship on course to the planets capitol, Kushal Vogh.

For the ride here I have mostly been practicing chakra strings. All I had to do was stretch out my chakra in a thin line from my finger and attach it to something. But for my purposes it wasn't going to be that simple, call me paranoid but I was training to have the string come from another chakra point so nothing would physically give me away physically. On the bright side it doubled as a way to improve my control and I was now able to use them enough to certainly influence dice.

###

After I made sure to (Legally) park the ship we both made our way into the capitol city of Kushal Vogh. I had told Eve it would be best to stay on the ship, as she can't really pass for someone older but she insisted on coming. I wasn't her babysitter so I let her come along. Making our way toward the Lucky Star casino, I was taking in our surroundings. It was definitely a gambling planet, and a shady one at that, but it definitely had a cool look. My only complaint was that it was almost unbearably hot, I had been in dry heat before but this was a annoying humid heat.

I was not surprised that when we got there, they didn't want to let us in. I mean I had no identification and we were both younger, so I didn't blame them. I told Eve that she could go back to the ship or look around and handed her some credits. I still had a good amount because I had sold some of the pirate crap that I had taken in my inventory.

'Damn does everything in the Galaxy run on bribes' I thought as I made my way into the casino. Looking around the floor it was mostly filled with some slot machine type games, with only a couple tables in the back. There were more floors but at the moment I would stay down here to learn the ropes.

###

I yawned as I stepped back into the ship. It was dark out and I had been at the casino for most of the day. I came back with a grand total of 20k, 5k less than I went in with. Today I had mostly been familiarizing myself with the games and the scene. The things that looked like slot machines were called Lugjacks, and with no way of influencing them they were not useful. The game I was most excited to play was Sabacc, and I was ok at that one, but I couldn't not play it. Finally the game I could actually influence was Binspo, and it was the dice game that they were playing at the casino in The Last Jedi.

I peaked into the main area of the ship and saw Eve fiddling with what looked like a small droid. "You getting into droids now?" I asked her.

She looked at me with irritation in her eyes and said "Well I decided to get a hobby because you just up and ditched me."

"Ahh sorry about that, but they wouldn't let you in and I had important business." I said

"Oh yeah, your important business of partying at a casino?"

Ok so maybe I wasn't seriously going at it for the whole time, or much at all, but that was just part of blending in with the crowd. "Haha well don't worry we won't be here for too much longer."

"Take as long as you like, it'll give me time to complete my payback." She whispered the last part so I could barely hear.

"What's that about payback?"

"Oh nothing"

###

I rolled the dice one last time, rolling across the table they landed on a 1 and 3 respectively. "Damn again, Jin you're going to clean me out." I said before handing him the stacked chips.

It had been 4 days since we got here and I was currently on the second floor of the casino. After the first day I had started to focus a bit harder on getting things done; winning but not too much as to attract attention, finding someone to get me a ID, and scoping out the perfect way to get a ship. I had done the first two of those things and I was currently doing the third.

"Fine you know what why don't we go all in." I said while concentrating for a second. Inserting a small amount of chakra into his body I applied a small visual genjutsu that made it look as if I had pulled out 150k credits, when I only had around 50k left after my 'losing streak'. "This losing streak ends here!"

Jin looked at the pile with greed in his eyes, but was still slightly hesitant. "I don't know, I don't have that much on me." He seemed to consider it for a second before finally saying "Ah what the heck I've been winning all day, put my ship in as collateral."

And he had been winning today, he was currently on his 5th win in a row. All thanks to me of course but he didn't know that. Finally with that got back to rolling the dice.

'Heh too easy'

###

And with that I was the proud owner of a YV-929 Armed freighter. It was a brick of a ship, 22 meters long with stubby wings and a red/grey paint job. But what this baby packed was worth it; two dual light turbolasers, a dual ion cannon, and two triple blasters mounted on the wings, a class 2 hyperdrive, and good shielding. Sadly it was missing the concussive missile launchers, but those could be added later.

Some of Jin's men were hauling off their cargo while me and Eve were standing off to the side. "Told you I'd get us a good one."

"I can see that, but I thought you would get something bigger for your training?"

"Don't worry, did you forget all that cargo space." I said as I held up my hand.

She started to ask where we were going to store the actual cargo when I quickly pulled out a credit from my inventory.

"Oh yeah, kinda forgot about that." She seems like she wanted to ask about it but held her tongue.

"Finally stopped asking me about it?" I asked with a amused expression.

"Would you tell me if I asked?" She deadpanned back.

"Probably not." I admitted while chuckling.

"Fine, now that we have a ship do we have a destination?"

"Uhhh nope I didn't really think this far ahead."

"We could probably find a job here, I saw a couple bounty hunters while looking for parts."

"That's a good idea."

What will Eve build to get her revenge, and what will the pairs first job be, find out on the next chapter of A Ninja in the Galaxy!

Authors note- Dunno why I did the part at the end, if it's lame just tell me. I know I said that I was going to release a bunch a chapters yesterday but I had some unexpected circumstances. On a completely unrelated note I am now caught up with The Wound in the Stars. I will probably release some more chapters later tonight. Thanks for reading!
