14 Bounty Hunting

The Bounty Hunters Guild was not very hard to find. Mostly because on a planet with this amount of money going around, there were bound to be more opportunities. We only ran into some problems when it came to registering, but that was mostly solved with a small showing of skill. Though we would have to take bounties to 'prove ourselves' with less reward, which I was okay with because we already were set for a while.

So after leaving the guild with our bounty we headed to the ship to get going. The task was not one that most would enjoy, it was to track down and eliminate a group of pirates in the nearby Felucia system. Normally that would be easy, but these pirates were holed up in the Felucian jungle and interfering with a important trade route. I took it because both of us were always down to kill some pirates and it would net us some decent rep. The system was only 2 days out so this shouldn't take too long.

"Ughh" I was still half asleep when I felt something poke into my side. I reached over and swatted it away but it just came right back. Just when I was about to sit and and see what it was, I felt something cold press against my side. It was so cold that it woke me up right away and I jumped to the other side of the bed. When I looked up I saw a half meter round, grey ball hovering there with a mechanical arm sticking out of it holding a piece of ice. I was then distracted by the laughing of Eve "Wow, I was wondering when you would wake."

"Hey, give me a break I stay up late." I said and looked toward the clock, it was only 930, we still had a couple hours to go. "What do you need, we aren't there yet."

"Oh, I didn't need anything I just wanted to get you back for yesterday" she said with a grin "and introduce you to the AJ Mk.1, I built him using a broken droid I found back in the... are you even listening?"

I wasn't, I was remembering yesterday. What happened yesterday? Was it the cliche, walking in on a changing girl, thing that happens in anime? No that would be creepy, I had just finished up some Fuinjutsu experimentation, when I got bored of training. Don't get me wrong, it's fun to use ninja magic but I can't do that the entire day. Well as we didn't have any other entertainment on the ship yet so I had decided to mess with Eve. It was pretty fun and good practice for my genjutsu. I also found out that Eve had spider like creatures on here planet that could grow up to a half meter long. So when she she saw tens of the creatures crawling out of the droid she was working on, she had a fit.

"Ahh!" I was pulled out of my reminiscing by the ice again. "Fine, fine, it's called the AJ or whatever, cool."

"Yep, the Annoy Jack Mk.1, is I cant wait to improve on it."

"...Really?"

"Yep custom made." She said in a smug tone.

Just as she was saying that, AJ tried to hover around me unseen. Just as it reached out it's mechanical arm, I stuck out my finger and ran a small amount of lightning chakra through it. The lightning arked across the droid and it fell to the floor.

"Looks like AJ needs some help." I remarked casually.

"Argh" she said before grabbing the droid and running away "I will have my revenge!"

"Alright no more messing around" I said as I sat down into the pilots seat.

"Yeah yeah, I got it." Eve said through comms we dropped out of hyperspace and were met by a cloudy, green world.

"All right prepare for approach, we might seem like we're hauling something, so watch out for the targets." Pulling the ship closer to the part of the planet the pirates were supposedly camped out at, I kept my eye out for enemies. I didn't think they would try to attack this ship, but you never know. Just as I was thinking that, the scanners popped on showing two smaller craft coming from our right.

"Two enemies to port side, coming in hot." I said through comms.

Activating the shields I turned to meet the craft head on. I'm not sure what kind of ship they are, but they are around half of our size and seem to have dual front facing laser cannons. I activated the two triple blasters on the wings and fired toward the one on the right. It was far away enough that it pulled to the right to dodge the blasts. I then focused fire on the left just as it started to fire its laser cannons.

They, of course, had to pull off sooner, as my ship's shields tanked a couple shots and I landed two shots on the left wing of the enemy. It seems their ships weren't shielded which would make it easier for me.

"Got a visual on them?" I asked Eve as I pulled the ship around to face the two again.

"Had one, I barely got any shots off, I barely know how to use this thing!"

I spotted one of them to our extreme right before the ship lurched a bit after taking a volley from behind. I was trying to outmaneuver them, but all the experience I had fighting in space came from Star Wars Battlefront. The only thing that I could take advantage of was that they weren't very good at teamwork.

-5 minutes later-

"Yes!" I shouted as I maneuvered the two into almost crashing into each other, allowing me to lose them. The last 5 minutes had been me barely able to keep the ship up and running, as I used my enhanced reflexes. The shield was running low but I finally had a good position. "Fire! Now" I said as both me and Eve unloaded the blasters and the turbolasers onto the poor unshielded ship. As the small ship fell apart, I moved to try to bring us closer to the planet. The other ship followed me but lagged behind. I had accomplished enough for my first space battle, so I decided to try to draw them out from their base.

Just as I had hoped, a third ship made its way out of the canopy. Taking note of where that was, I brought the ship even lower. Finally when both were on my tail, I took a sharp left while decelerating as fast as I could. The two ships both looped back but by then I had crashed through the canopy, It was a hard landing but the ship was still working. Eve and I ran quickly got out of the ship and I started the process of storing it away. It was a tense minute of them looping back and trying to find us through the trees. But when the ship disappeared into my inventory I knew we were safe for now.

It had been a good hour of searching before we came across the encampment. Thinking back to what happened, we had actually ended up in a good position. We destroyed one of their ships and only got slight damage to ours. And we ended up on the ground, which was where I wanted to be in the first place. Looking into the camp I couldn't help but smile to myself. There were now only 3 total ships and one of them seemed to be a hauling ship of some kind, around the same size as ours but with very little weaponry. We wouldn't need much planning to get through this.

-20 minutes later-

Eve and I had already snuck in and placed explosives on all of the exit vehicles but the larger ship. It was laughably easy with me body flickering both of us into the center. I wish I could say it was hard and exciting, but sadly not much went on after the explosives went off. All I have to do was keep the rest of the pirates off the larger ship, while Eve secures it. I did run into a slight problem when I tried to block a blaster bolt with my sword while I was running lightning through it. The metal where I blocked it overloaded with energy and got red hot, causing the blade to bend the nest time I used it. I just threw it away using clones and speed to take out the rest.

In the end, it was easy once we got on the ground. Though it wasn't a waste because I got some much needed experience with piloting. After putting the newly obtained ship into my inventory and gathering the evidence needed, I took our ship out. After boarding and making sure it was safe for a return flight, we lifted off to head back.
