When Melissa walked into the stairs, Matthew's whole world slowed down. He stops chatting with his friends and lay his eyes on the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. Perfect crimson hair that rested right above her shoulders and chocolate brown eyes that could swallow galaxies. Her perfect skin that looked so fragile yet so soft makes him want to touch her, feel her. The woman caught his attention, her small waist and curvy hips fit perfectly under her red dress.
"Who is this beautiful lady? I've never seen her before?" He hears the crowd talking, curious about this new lady's identity.
Their intense gaze made Melissa unsettled.
Betty is making fun of her, she's not stupid for not knowing that. Melissa knows her ways, but this is too much. Betty's sweetest smile seems like a poison to Melissa!
Melissa hates so much attention. She detest them looking at her abhorrently. It was as if she's being stripped naked in front of them.
"Ladies and gentlemen! It's my honor to present to you our newest leading lady in theater department, please help me welcome our very own Ms. Melissa Freeks! Give her a hand of applause please!" Betty's sweet words echoed the whole place. She's loving the show and attention she's getting as soon as her classmates and schoolmates gathers in that area. They are curious about this beautiful lady standing shyly in front of them.
No one even applauded. Instead, her classmates and schoolmates scrutinize her closely as if she's a small specimen in the lab ready to be dissected.
"What? She's Melissa?" They couldn't believe that Melissa possessed a unique beauty.
Melissa hates the way they look at her. Girls look at her with envy while men look at her lustfully. Such disgusting view for Melissa. This is why she hate dressing indecently!
Melissa stood as if she's just a joke in front of everyone else. While Betty, seems enjoying everything. She wants to see Melissa's reaction.
Melissa flusterred, their harsh comments made her loss her confidence.
"Her? The new Vera? What a joke?!" Everyone express their discontentment towards her.
Aria frown wanting to slap Betty's face instantly, but Ryan stops her. Ryan wanted to know what Melissa is capable of in order to obtain the role.
"Do you want to be entertained by this young lady wearing such provocative outfit?" Betty ask the audience with a hint of malicious in her eyes.
Wait? What did she say? Me? Entertaining them? Melissa ask herself, confuse by what Betty meant?
This is not what they agreed for. Why did Betty said those things in front of everyone?
Melissa thought she's just ramping in front of other people to introduce herself as the new Vera. Unknowingly, Betty's true intention is to embarrass her.
Melissa was not prepared and terrified with their disagreement. Her emotions were not easily hidden on her innocent face. Her pain was evident in the crease of her lovely brow and the down-curve of her full lips. But her eyes, her eyes showed her soul. They were a deep pool of restless gold, an ocean of hopeless grief. All the beauty of the universe could not even hope to compete with this simple thing: passion. Passion turned her eyes into orbs of the brightest fire, and in them Melissa clearly declare that she would fight to the very last tear for her life. She would not let the world break her.
She can't give up. She'll prove everyone that she can perform the role of Vera, the seductress. Sure she would meet hardship, but she would never let them take her true self from her. She clung to it with passion. Passion that made her beautiful.
