1 Hello Baby-1

The cold wind blew snow from the South, obscuring my view of the path. I shivered and sneezed twenty five times before I found the old bridge. There are two bridges on Dragon Mountain, the Raven bridge, and the Shepard's trail bridge. I was going to Raven bridge to get to town and buy some medicine for my grandma. She was ill with a fever and I, as the oldest, has to get the medicine for her. Sometime I wish I was the youngest, but sometimes I also want to stay where I am. Life is always so confusing.

It took me half an hour to get to the shop at the edge of the mountain. The door jingled as I walked in and stomped my boots. "Hello Logan. Did you walk all the way down here from the mountain again?"

"You know me Mr. Green, can't go a day without walking somewhere from the mountain. Besides, it's not that big a mountain anyway." I smile at the old man and through a bunch of medicine in the cart before getting some water and warm gloves and hats.

"That'll be 53.67."

"So much? why does it seem like the prices keep going up?" I whine and hand him the money.

"Well maybe you should ask the gummy bears you keep buying." I snatch the gummies and crease it like it's my child.

"shh, hush there now. don't worry. I will not leave you here to freeze."

"more like they'll freeze half way up the mountain. here you go hun. Come again when the snows gone " I wave buy to to the old man and put the new gloves and ski masks on before walking back up the mountain.

The way is always longer up than the way down. The air seemed to get colder and colder each step I took. My breathing turned ragged and my vision blurred. Not again. Something hit me from my side and I fell down. My hands couldn't stop shaking as I searched for my inhaler.

These attacks have been happening more recently. I've been able to hide it from my family, but I won't be able to keep it hidden for very long. If they found out I went through two inhalers in a month, Joey would be the one to go down the mountain whenever we're out of things. He's only two years younger than me, I'm just turning eight teen in couple of weeks. If I can keep it hidden until then it'd be fine for him to walk up and down the mountain.

Five minutes passed before I got up and started walking again. My body got warmer the more I moved. Finally, I reached the bridge after thirty minutes. there was a trolley on one side that went up to my house. it was for putting heavy stuff in it that we had to carry up. Sadly the weight limit was one hundred pounds and I weighed one sixty-five.

Sighing, I put the bags in it and pulled the cord for it to go up. I walked along it as I made my way to the cabin. The lights were on still. The dogs bark and laughter could be heard. I got an unsettling feeling in my stomach and stopped the trolley. I held it still and slowly sent it back down the mountain.

I set the bags down by the side of the house and walked to a window, peeking in. There were five guys dressed in black. All of them were over six feet and they all carried weapons. Two held my brother down while my younger brother Chris, and my little sister Tina, were tied to chairs. Another man held a sword to my grandma's head and swiped.

Blood sprayed on everything. I slapped my hand over my mouth to stop the scream from coming out. Still, a small squeak made its way out. The tallest man looked at the window I was watching through and walked towards it. I quickly backed away and smoothed some snow over my foot prints before hiding.

"Clark, what is it." There was no response. light spilled from the window and flashed on the ground.

"Thought I heard something." My whole body trembled. As the light made its way to my hiding spot. A couple feet away from me was a small fox. I quickly grabbed it and held it down without making any noise, then threw near a tree .

A small streak of silver flashed before landing in the tree with a thump, scaring away the fox. "Oh come on Clark, stop being so tense. It was just a small little fox. The girl should be here soon so just wait." The man laughed and patted his shoulder.

"I get her first." Clark told the man. He just shrugged his shoulder and walked to the others laughing. Clark shined the light around once more before shutting the window.

My heart was about to jump from my chest as I replayed the words they just said in my head. My stomach churned and I puked on the ground melting the snow away. I used the surrounding snow to wipe my mouth out and cover my tracks again. I walked to another window and peeked in. I could only see four of the five in there. The shortest one was missing.

A click sounded behind me alone with a chuckle. "Well, well. What do we have here? Ah, miss Logan, is that you? Lucky me. I get you first. Turn around so I can see you."

I slowly turned and eyed the gun in front of my head. This guy is no threat compared to the two guys that were in the window. "Congratulations, you forgot to do your homework, no wonder you failed school." I slapped the gun out of his hand and let him pull me to him and snapped his neck.

I mused about the summer school I was enrolled in during summer. It trained us to be assassins. I was one of the top chosen. My family was Formidable, that's the most likely reason why they'd send the top dogs, seniors of mine that were also chosen. I pick up his gun and take all the other weapons before walking around to take out the best, Clark.
