1 Wishes and Arriving

Opening my eyes, I looked around the bright white room and slightly recoiled at the intensity of the room's brightness.

"Where...?" was all I could get out through my sore throat which felt like it had been lined with sandpaper. Moving my head around I saw my body but something was different:

I was covered in blood.

Finding it weird I couldn't panic, I soon found out why as the memories rushed into my head, explaining why I wasn't freaking out.

Ambushed in a dark alleyway, stabbed multiple times before being beaten so badly I'd broken so many bones it was easier to count the bones that weren't broken in my body. Sadly my neck and most of my skull were bones that had been cracked, snapped and popped open like a can of beans.

So, why wasn't I panicking? Because deep down I already knew I was dying and/or dead, my brain had just suppressed the memories to protect my sanity I guess; the brain does that a lot.

But something quickly caught my attention as I looked down at my haggard body; the blood was working its way back into my body, the clothes full of knife slashes and stab holes slowly knit itself back together in the same way I expect my body was doing as no more blood came out of my body.

Thinking this was me going mad at the end of my life, I chuckled to myself before realizing I felt great once again.

Must be me going into shock, right?

Is what I thought, but a voice opposite me brought this notion to an end pretty quickly.

"Sorry about that, my child, getting authorization to heal newcomers takes a bit of time," a soothing, almost melodic voice called out with an apologetic sound to it, "But now that you're healed, let's discuss what's happening, okay?"

Looking over at the figure, my vision blurred, not exactly being able to make sense of the figure in front of me. Looking at everything else in the room, I saw it all in perfect clarity - but this figure in front of me was blurry. So blurry in fact that I couldn't figure out its appearance. It was like looking at something in the corner of your eye, on the edge of your peripheral vision - you just can't make sense of it.

As if sensing my utter confusion at their lack of a discernible figure, the thing in front of me shimmered before speaking once again, "I'm sorry, but I cannot show you my form. It may sound arrogant but you wouldn't be able to comprehend it and in the end it could drive you to lunacy," though for a second I felt annoyed it would make such a decision for me, I soon calmed down hearing it's soothing voice; this voice didn't sound like it was lying, nor did it sound like it was hiding something.

And why would it? If it wanted me dead, it could most likely kill me instantly, and if it wanted to use me for some scheme, then I'll let it. There's no way I could fight a figure that could mentally break me just by showing me it's true form.

So along with the thoughts of helplessness, I just nodded my head before speaking, "If you say so, I guess I'll have to believe it. Anyway, can you please hurry up and tell me why I'm here? I'm pretty sure I just died, and there's a blurry figure in front of me - so am I in the Afterlife or something? Am I about to get reincarnated? Am I going to Hell? Are you God? Or are you the Devil?" as soon as I started speaking, the questions just kept flowing out and I couldn't stop myself.

But the figure didn't get impatient with me but instead just sat there and let me get out my questions before finally replying with its ever-soothing voice.

"Now, where do I start..." the figure thought for a few seconds before speaking again, "Yes, you are in the Afterlife. You will be reincarnated if that is what you want, so no, you won't be going to Hell. I am a God, not 'the' God you're referring to. Neither am I the Devil. I simply am. I exist with one purpose: To grant wishes and give people a better life after the one they had on Earth."

Sitting there, I let what was just said, sink into my little human mind.

So, there are multiple gods? Huh. I wonder if the Pantheons back on Earth were all real - that'd be pretty fun to know. If most of Mythology happened--Stop waffling on, Alex, and focus on the more important things.

Going along this line of thought, I spoke to the figure again, "So, is this one of those scenarios where I get some wishes when I reincarnate? I chose a world, pick some wishes and you send me on my merry way? And you do this for multiple people? How does that work? I'm sure there are only a finite amount of places you can send people before you run out of places, right?" the questions once again flooded out and I wondered if my death had turned me into a chatterbox or something.

But once again, the figure didn't get annoyed with my constant chatter and just answered my questions calmly, "Yes, if you so wish to Reincarnate, you can pick where you want to be reincarnated and if you want to be Transmigrated instead. Again, yes, I, and many other Gods like me, do this for millions upon millions of other people from Earth and it works quite simply, if you ask me," the figure stopped for a minute, obviously trying to figure out how to explain it all to me, "You've possibly heard of the theory that there are an infinite number of universes, yes? That the universe you were just in, is only one of an infinite number that is either the same, slightly different or vastly different?"

Hearing the figure, I just nodded my head, wanting to know where this would go.

Seeing my nod, the God carried on, "That's exactly what allows us to do this. Every story, every book, every film, and every show, you humans have come up with - we've made it into its own universe to fulfill wishes like the ones I'm about to give you, and just like your universe has an infinite number of copies or variants, these universes we've made also have an infinite number of copies or variants."

Stopping myself from asking something stupid, I thought about what was just said in great detail.

If there are an infinite number of universes for me to be sent to, it wouldn't matter if they gave everyone on Earth the chance to reincarnate to a universe of their choice, would it? Because no matter how many humans are born and consequently die, there will never be such an amount that it will ever equal infinite - because an infinite is everlasting while the Human Race will probably one day just end.

Hmm...So, I guess I should take my wishes and reincarnate, huh?

Looking over at the blurry God in front of me, I wryly smirked a little before speaking, "I get what you mean. Kinda. But that's enough for me. So, can we do these wishes?" my earlier confusion gave way for excitement.

Sure, I might have just died but I was an orphan and while I loved my foster-parents, I understood that I was dead and gone from their world. My older brother and sister would be distraught but I knew the family as a whole would come together and hold each other together. Worrying about it from now on would just be a mental burden and not allow me to enjoy my new wishes.

"Yes, we can. First off, we need to decide on the world you wish to go to. Realize that this is where you decide to Reincarnate or Transmigrate with a specific time and/or place in mind. Think clearly about it," the soothing voice came with a firm warning and I chose to not ignore it.

Now. Where do I want to go? Well, for one, not somewhere too dangerous or grimdark. So, places like Berserk and Claymore are off the table. But I don't want a place devoid of action where I can't do anything fun.

Thinking about it, I'd rather go somewhere Supernatural based rather than a Scientific universe like the Alien Vs Predator universe. So, Terminator, the aforementioned Alien Vs Predator, and most of Marvel are off the table. Especially the last one. That place is full of dangers.

It didn't take long to think about a few Supernatural-based shows/films that I would like to go to and mess about in. But one of them stuck out to me:

Twilight.

I really liked this book series and I even liked the films, despite my older sister having forced me to read the books so she could talk to someone about them and even forcing me to watch them with her when they came out on the big screen. The characters are all pretty interesting and the world is dangerous enough that it would be fun to have powers, while also not meaning certain death for me.

Plus, it was just like my Earth, so I could even go traveling if I wanted to - it's something I've always wanted to do.

The more I thought about it, the more it became appealing in my mind and before long I was decided, "I want to be Transmigrated into Twilight as Bella Swan's younger brother by a year and be placed a few minutes before she arrives at her father's house in Forks. I want it so that instead of going with Bella to her Mom, I stayed with Charlie after the divorce and lived with him henceforth," thinking for a second I put on a hopeful look, "And could it be possible that I have access to all the memories that body has up until that point? Along with the feelings. I'll need to be able to fit in and without those memories and feelings, it'll be hard."

The figured shimmered and waved back and forth for a few seconds, as if it was conversing with someone else, before finally replying, "This wish is acceptable. You will be born a year after Bella and will be 16 by the time of the plot starting. You will gain the memories up until that point along with the feelings of said feelings, though this will cause minor changes in your personality, are these acceptable parameters?" its voice wasn't as soothing anymore and felt and sounded more like an emotionless robot.

Though I would rather deal with a robot than a literal God.

Thinking it through, I nodded my head, "Yes, those are acceptable changes. Emotions and memories are what make a person. Just please make it so they don't override who I am, okay?"

"Affirmative," the robotic voice came to an end and it's soothing voice came back for what it said next, "Now then, my child, let us discuss your wishes for this world. You should be told that only wishes that fit with this world will be allowed. So, for example, only wishes to do with Humans, Vampires, Werewolves, and Shapeshifters will be allowed. Sources not allowed: Any non-human races that haven't been listed before, any powers not compatible with races listed beforehand and Wishes of omnipotent power will not be granted or allowed. You have a total of 3 wishes. Pick them at your leisure."

Getting to thinking I wondered about what I would want. I like Vampires, Werewolves, and Shapeshifters equally but one of them seems the most fun and it had to be Shapeshifters. Werewolves or Children of the Moon are reliant on the Moon for their transformations and Vampires are too sensitive to heat for me - I like incredibly hot showers, after all. Plus, I have a feeling I can tweak some things and make myself much stronger than the average Shapeshifter and maybe even the average Vampire.

And let's be honest, wolves are way cooler than Vampires.

Now that I have my first wish down, my second wish is pretty easy - I want to have Genius-level Learning Ability. Pretty simple and doesn't need much explaining other than that I want to learn how to fight quickly before everything starts kicking off, plus, being able to learn languages and instruments at a genius-level pace would be pretty fun, right?

Now, the third wish is pretty easy when I think about it - I want the Mental Shield ability that Bella has and the immunity to powers like Telepathy and Jane's Pain Illusion ability that ability would give me. I don't want some broody vampire poking around in my head for information on Bella and I most definitely don't want to be at the mercy of Jane or the Volturi, so this ability is needed.

Finally figuring out my wishes, I looked at the ever-patient figure in front of me before speaking, "For my first wish, I want to be an Enhanced Shapeshifter with a Human Form on par physically with a Vampire in all ways, or even stronger if possible. My wolf form would naturally be even stronger as well. My second wish is to have Genius-level learning ability for all things. Finally, my third wish is to have the same Ability as Bella when she is turned into a Vampire; Mental Shield. Are these wishes acceptable?"

Shimmering as it did before, the figure took a minute or two to finally get back to me and when it did, the robotic voice was back again.

"Yes, these wishes are acceptable. You will be an Upgraded Shapeshifter with a Human Form stronger than the Average Vampire. As you will be a living thing you may improve your strength, though doing so would be quite hard because of your naturally high strength rendering most weights useless to you. You will gain your second and third wishes, but will only awaken your third when you start your phasing," the robotic voice spoke in such a monotone voice I nearly didn't realize what it said last.

"Wait, what? I'm not going to automatically become a Shapeshifter? I'll have to wait for the phasing to happen?!" feeling angry at both myself and this new information, the reply I knew was coming finally came in its robotic voice.

"You did not specify that you wanted to be awakened in your wish," it waited for a moment before the figured shimmered once more and the soothing voice came back, "I'm sorry, my child, but it's right; you didn't say what you wanted clearly enough and the wishes have already been made. Now it's time for you to go. Goodbye, Alexander."

And with that a flash of light blinded me and I woke up in a room with a few windows looking over the front of the house.

I heard a car pulling up on the drive and rushed over to the window to have a look. Once my eyes lay on the two people getting out of the car, a wave of information started to flood into my head and I collapsed onto one knee at the pain.

...Guess I'm here, huh?
