Explanation

Okay!!! It has come to my attention that my explanation of powerlevel and fighting ability wasn't thorough enough and that it was a bit confusing so...this chapter is dedicated to explaining the power levels.

Now, most people would base mages in accordance to their magic level, a person with a large magic output might be termed as an S rank but don't have any training than he would be useless in a real fight.

So i have decided to give examples in numerical terms but these numbers are not really the actual representation.

Now, lets say a mage has 20,000 magic output, without training his control a basic fire spell costs him about 200 units. And because he doesn't train himself, the magic enhancement boost to his body is not as strong as someone who has been training all his life and his control over his magic is good, but has 10,000 units.

Now in terms of number, the one with 20,000 units would be a higher rank and would be the one most would think would win in a fight. But the one with 10,000 unit would likely trash him if they fought.

The higher their rank the more training and experience comes to play. It doesn't mean that someone with 5000 units even with the best training wouldn't be able to defeat a person with 20,000 units. There is just too wide of a gap, and his natural defence due to his large magic would block most of the power the guy with 5000 magic throws at him.

Now, The main distinction of mages as i've posted before is from F all the way to S and above.

This classification is done by terms of battle power instead of magic power. Meaning a huge magic pool doesn't mean a super strong battle power, but most powerful mages have large magic pools, as i've explained in previous chapters the empowerment cycle of magic origin and body is dependent on the awakened magic.

Currently Blake is S rank, with his magic, and is in the upper levels even in that rank, he could fight against the whole oracion seis and grimoire heart, because his strengthening magic boosts his endurance and resistance to absurd levels and would even be able to contend with a dragon soon. Without using his magic, he could possibly defeat the likes of laxus on full power. This is because his training made his normal body into living armour, most of erza's weapons wouldn't be able to pierce or cut him and would need her powerful weapons to hurt him.

Spells are categorised based on their rarity, difficulty and effect. While spells that could destroy villages may be categorised as B or A class, a spell that takes over a persons mind could be labled as forbidden or S rank, it depends on the various criteria above. And besides, most S rank mages could cast a basic spell with the same amount of power coming form the most powerful spell of a B rank.

From my explanation it may look confusing it will become clearer as the story progresses. Right now, Blake is at the top among human mages, but its not humans that they should be worried about right now isn't it. Hehehehe, forshadow!!!!

Irene would be pretty much among the most powerful too but she lacks experience and the right mindset.

You would be amazed what having the right mindset does in combat. I train in boxing and mma, and let me tell you, if your a kindhearted person and don't want to hurt someone even though you are punching and kicking your opponent you won't have much power because your sub consciousness is preventing your body from delivering the proper power in your hits.

After my coach explained it to me and i corrected my mindset, my hits became faster, stronger and more accurate. And i beat most of my sparring partners who were dominating me before.

So this correct mindset is even more inportant when its about killing, but since i dont have any experience in that field i am basing it off of my experience.

Blake is able to show his full power while Irene would struggle with someone even if they are weaker if it was a life and death fight.

For another comparision, Blake would be among the spriggan 12, so that means he is at the semi end boss level already in terms of the storyline. But there is gonna be more content and world building and higher beings. Enough spoiler, hope this was enough of an explanation, if not please comment and i will try my best to explain anything.
