15 Simon Lathalas- Chapter 3: Punishment of Simon Lathalas

[Simon: Bottomless Pit!]

A pit as dark as night and as deep as fifteen meters appeared underneath the one who called himself Gluttony.

[Gluttony: Heh, impressive, but it'll take a bit more to kill me.]

And with that he vanished from Simon's line of sight.

[Simon: What?]

[Gluttony: Only because I was specifically ordered not to kill you, I won't. But I will do this.]

Simon felt the butt of the sword hit the back of neck, and he was knocked out. But before he lost all consciousness, he heard the man say one last thing.

[Gluttony: Now my next order was to resurrected one of the children.]

Resurrection? Why? Damn it! I need to get up! I need to get up. Please. Please, body, let me get up.

Simon passed out.

*********************************

Hours has passed since the massacre of the Lathalas family. Simon is still passed out, but people found him. With Simon's passed out body, was a little young girl, whom was standing still over Simon. She looked to be about eight years of age, but lifeless. Almost like a puppet. The law enforcers concluded that this was the work of necromancy. Just by looking at the situation, it seems like Simon killed his own family to try and resurrect them as lifeless dolls, but ended up running out of magic after he resurrected his oldest child. In suspicion of Simon, they threw him into a dungeon cell, which his fate will be determined later. Though in accordance to the law, they can't just arrest him without proof, so they decide to wait until he wakes up to see what they should do.

Simon's next set of actions will result in punishment, but depending on what he does, he can get either a light or severe punishment. What will he do now?

********************************

Simon now gains consciousness, but he doesn't open his eyes yet in fear of seeing what was in front of him.

Simon doesn't know that he is in a prison cell right now, he still thinks that he in front of his families dead bodies.

A male voice spoke.

[1?: To think that he'd use resurrection magic on his family.]

Another male voice responded.

[2?: He has an affinity with dark magic. What did you expect?]

A third female voice jumped in.

[3?: I don't know, but using it on his own family is kind of, uhh, I don't know. Disturbing?]

[2?: Most people with an affinity with dark magic, usually do criminal things and the sort. To be honest I am not that surprised that he tried to that.]

[1?: Bullshit. Even if you expected him to do something bad, you couldn't have expected him to resurrect his daughter.]

[2?: Expected? I never said that. I said I wasn't surprised.]

A new male voice jumped in from a distance of the other three.

[4?: Well, there is also a chance that he didn't do it at all.]

[2?: You really think he didn't do that, George. All evidence points to him.]

[George: Evidence? I wasn't aware of any evidence other than him being in front of them, Jamal.]

[Jamal: No not evidence. Sorry that was my fault. Everything looks as though it was done by him.]

[George: *sighs* Anyways, any signs from Simon waking up.]

Simon's mind raced. What to do? Why do they think it's me? Resurrection? Oh wait that's what Gluttony said he was going to do. Wait. They think I did that?

[3?: We would have gotten you if he woke up you know.]

[George: So I would take that as a no. The higher-ups wanted me to come get him regardless if he was awake or asleep, so I guess we just pour water on him, or something.]

[1?: You could try again, but we already did that a few couple times.]

[George: Alright, Ronald. Where's the bucket?]

Should I just wake up now? Should I wait until he pours water on me? What to do? What do I do?

[Ronald: Are you blind? It's quite literally in front of you.]

[3?: Hah! Stupid.]

[George: Shut up, Elle! I just wasn't paying attention.]

[Elle: Okay, okay. Don't need to get all offensive about it.]

[Jamal: Do you need help finding the water, too? Hehe.]

[George: You too! Shut up!]

Now. Now's a good time. Simon says in a very tired voice.

[Simon: Mmmm, shut up.]

[Ronald: Look at that, your loud voice managed to wake him up. Well at least you don't have to do all that work.]

Good. It looks like it worked.

[Jamal: Wake up, necromancer! You got places to be?]

[Simon: Hmmm.]

Simon fakes his waking up.

[Simon: Necromancer? Huh? Huh?! Where am I? Where's my family? What did you do? Wait. You're part of the guards forces aren't you. Necromancer? Why would you call me such a disgusting thing?]

[George: It appears that you don't know anything, huh?]

[Simon: Wait, no. There was something. Something that happened last night.]

Simon already knows what happened, but he needs to put on this act.

[Simon: Gluttony! Someone who called himself Gluttony came to my house last night and um, um.]

[George: Gluttony? Why would such a person bother wit-]

[Simon: My family! He- he killed my family! He killed my family. My wife tried to fight him and set the house on fire. Yes. Yes! The fire was the reason why I came back. Where are they? Where is my family.]

The three elven knights, Jamal, Ronald, and Elle looked away. Leaving George to explain by himself. George looked at Simon with a pain look and opened his mouth.

[George: Your family, your family... How do I say this? Your family is dead.]

[Simon: Gluttony... I remember now. He was there. He killed them. My son, my daughters, my wife. All dead.]

There was need for him to act this part, for he was in despair about his family. He cried and cried, until he couldn't cry anymore. An embarrassing thing to do in front of others, but he couldn't control it anymore.

[George: You need to come for your trial now.]

[Simon: Ri-*sob*-right.]

*********************************

[Judge: Today, we are here to declare the fate of the elven noble, Simon Lathalas.]

It's time that my acting pays off. I hope. My plan was to try and get at least those four to believe that I'm not guilty, which I'm not, but just in case.

[Judge: Since we can't prove that he was the one that did those crimes, and can't prove that he wasn't. We will leave the decision to his father, Raymond Lathalas. Raymond, what do you want?]

Father? Why is he here? We haven't spoken for years, and he's the one that's going to decide my fate. What are you going to do, Father?

[Raymond: *sigh* I can't believe that I'm doing this. I think exiling him from the whole of the elven nation, Lepus, is worthy punishment! We can't prove that he's guilty, but we can't prove he is innocent, so I believe exile is the best option.]

Exile? I can't believe him. Why? We weren't really on good terms, but we weren't on bad ones either, so why are you so harsh, Father?

[Raymond: He will be allowed to take as much of his stuff that he wants, except for his daughter, my granddaughter, Saiph Lathalas, for she has been resurrected! You, Simon, have ten days to get all of your belongings and get out of this nation! Saiph's fate, well actually she's already dead, but she'll be decided at a later date.]

What? No. This can't be happening.

[Judge: Then it's decided! Simon will be exiled within 10 days!]

And the Judge hit his hammer on the grand pedestal, declaring that as my fateful punishment.
