14 Simon Lathalas- Chapter 2: Life After Marriage

The year is now 649, three years after his first date with Kaelynn Mystralath, he got married to her, which she is now called Kaelynn Mystralath. The times are peaceful, the couple are happily making money through a merchant trade with a human named Oliver. Just Oliver.

When Simon gets an animal out of his hunt, he'll give it to his wife to skin, cure, and preserve it for the next time the merchant comes around. They usually make 7-16 silver coins total, it depends on how big the animal is too, and there is a limit to how small it can be.

Simon also taught Kaelynn how to use a bit of magic. It turns out that she has a fire attribute and can also use earth magic. Though since Kaelynn didn't really like using magic the most she's done was throw a fireball and make an earth pit.

In the year 651, their first child has been born. It was a girl, and they will name her Saiph Lathalas. She was born with bright red hair, like her mother, and deep sea blue eyes, like her father. At the age of one she started to walk, at the age of two she was able to speak, and at the age of three she was able to run around and play. Of course it was until she turned 2, that Simon and Kaelynn had sleep deprive, so after Saiph stopped crying every night, they were finally able to get some sleep.

Four years later, in the year 655, they had their next child, another girl, though this time she has her mother's eyes, a bright light green color, and her father's hair, a dirty blonde color. The named her Bellatrix Lathalas. She started to walk and talk at about 18 months. Though she didn't stop crying in the middle of the night until she was 4, which was right before her new brother would be born.

In the year 659, the couple had their next child, a boy this time, and named him Rigel Lathalas. Though unlike the other children he was born with black hair, which was actually Simon's mother's hair color, and he was born with one eye color like his mother's and the other was like his father's. He stopped crying at the age of two month, he was able to crawl around everywhere and was able walk short distances.

They all had peaceful lives, the couple decided three was enough and wanted to raise the children, free of the world's problems. This continued on for another year, after Rigel was born, then in the year 660 it all broke apart. The peace and quiet is no more for the family of five. Everything fell apart, everything wasn't like how Simon wanted it to be. There is no freedom from the world. That was his first mistake, for the world had sent an intruder upon the Lathalas family, and came after them for trying to achieve freedom from itself.

[??: The children are asleep now. You want to head to bed yourself?]

Simon turned around to the sound of the voice, there stood the beautiful red haired, blued eyed woman, in which Simon married, Kaelynn.

[Simon: There are a few things I have to check out first, then I'll head to bed. You can go to bed yourself if you want.]

The girl looked at Simon with a curious look and shook her head.

[Kaelynn: There are also things I must check, so I will see you later.]

The couple looked at each other, subconsciously knowing what the other wants to do. Anniversary gifts. Their anniversary is coming up, in just over a week from now. But there is a problem, Simon doesn't know what to get her this year. Despite that they've been married for almost eleven years, Simon is really bad at gifts, so he needs to start looking for gifts now.

There is also another problem, Kaelynn is also in the same position, but neither of them knows that the other is struggling with gifts.

[Simon: Then I guess we should get going, so the children don't suspect anything.]

He bowed and pointed towards the door, before saying.

[Ladies first.]

[Kaelynn: No, there something I have to check in here first, I think it'll take about ten or so minutes, so you can go first.]

[Simon: If you say so, then I'll take the chance and try to hurry back.]

And with that Simon left the house, but a voice from the darkness called out.

[??: Well this is lovely surprise, the one person I didn't have to kill already left.]

Kaelynn wanted to turn around, yet it felt like she was carrying herself. She felt her strength leaving her.

[Kaelynn: Who are you?! What did you do to me?!]

Her first instinct was to run, but she need to get the children from their rooms.

[??: Is there any need for hunter to explain anything to his name to the prey. No there's not, so I shouldn't have to tell you.]

And with that, the man in the darkness jumped at Kaelynn at alarming speeds.

Simon had just left the house and was trying to figure out where he wanted to go next. In fact, there aren't many shops that are opened at this time anyways.

[Simon: I'll definitely get her flowers and chocolate, but I have to get her something else too.]

Just as Simon was about to completely leave the area, a bright light shined from behind him.

[Simon: Wha-]

Simon felt the heat of a fire from behind him. Without hesitation he ran back to his home.

[Simon: Kaelynn! Saiph! Bellatrix! Rigel! Where are you?!]

Many thoughts were racing through Simon's mind right now. What happened? Where are they? Why is everything on fire?

[Simon: Is this Kaelynn's?]

Kaelynn does know how to use fire magic, but why would she do this? No, she wouldn't have done this without reason.

Simon made it to the kids' rooms. This part of the house isn't on fire. He opened the door to Rigel's room. No one is there. He opened the door to Bellatrix's room. No one was there. He opened the door to Saiph's room. No one was there, but he spotted something in the dark. Blood. He quickly went to the last of the rooms, his and Kaelynn's room. He opened the door and there he saw three bodies belonging to children on the floor and Kaelynn's body lifelessly hanging over a man's shoulder. The man was holding a shortsword in his hand, which is going straight through Kaelynn's body.

[??: Hah. What a pathetic parent. She let her children die before she herself died.]

Simon stood there in shock, unable to move he voiced out a single, quiet word.]

[Why?]

[??: Hmm.]

The man turned around. As he did he threw Kaelynn's body with the bodies of the children.

[??: Are you stupid? I didn't notice you there at all, you could've killed me, yet you didn't. Stupid.]

Simon repeated himself.

[Simon: Why?]

[??: Why what? Why I killed your family? Why I'm here? Why I haven't killed you yet? What are you asking?]

[Simon: Why did you kill them?]

[??: Because I was ordered to kill them.]

[Simon: Who ordered you?]

[??: You are stupid aren't you. You think I'll tell you.]

Simon started to come out of shock.

[Simon: Then who are you?]

[??: I am none other than the carrier of the sin of Gluttony.]

[Simon: Gluttony?]

[Gluttony: Yes?]

Why is someone like that here? Who can order a sin to do things? Could I win if I fought?

[Simon: Die.]

[Gluttony: What? Sorry I couldn't here you.]

[Simon: Die!]

[Gluttony: You really want me to do die, yet you're just standing there, doing nothing.]

At that moment, Simon felt his strength leaving him, like water going down a drain. Before all of his strength is gone he can use his magic.

[Simon: Bottomless Pit!]
