A New Life

When someone moves to a new place they are afraid. They move to a new environment that they don't know. They move to a place where everyone they meet will be strangers. Most people don't let that fear get to them. But some of those people that don't let that fear get to them hides that fear but that fear that they hide, will show itself eventually and come out.

John moved to a place where he is the odd one out. John is from Florida and moved to Hawaii to live with his Aunt and Uncle who were stationed in Hawaii by the U.S. Military. In Hawaii there seemed to be few white people and most white people were outcasted unless you knew someone that lived there.

People that weren't native to Hawaii were known as Haole and at first this didn't bother John at first but as he kept being called Haole it started to slowly bother him. John has always had excellent observation skills and any time he goes to the beaches, walks around his neighborhood, or even is at work he gets glared at.

He knows he's an outsider and he even thinks he's one and he hates it. As much as he's enjoyed moving to Hawaii he also hates it. He had to throw his old life away, go to a place where he knew he wouldn't be fully accepted, and meet new people.

The first two months John was in Hawaii he stayed in a hotel room in Honolulu which is located on Oahu. He went to school in Oahu while he was in the hotel room and there were all types of people there. It was like going to a school back in Florida but there was little air conditioning, many bugs, and very open.

Once John and his Aunt and Uncle bought there new house on the West side of Oahu John transferred to a new school. This school was completely different from any Florida school and the school he went to in the city. The school was huge and had many buildings.

Two weeks after John started at his new school he also started his job down the street at the local Taco Bell. Whenever he worked on a school day he would go to school during the day and walk his way to work. He continued that for the rest of his sophomore year of highschool and during the summer he worked during the day and night but also started doing a closing shift every Saturday.
