2 Ch 1: The Beginning And Not The End

It had been 11 years since Paul's rebirth or rather Lucius Hans Devinsworth's rebirth. He had been conscious through the 11 years of his new life and have adapted to his new lifestyle.

He had inherited his mother's white hair and fair skin, thankfully not her gender as Lucius was more adept in being a man. From his father side was his face, which had sharp and green eyes, and cold gaze. He was still young and his knowledge with genetics was very lacking to know more about himself.

Rays of sunlight pierced through his windows indicating that moring had come. Lucius was reading a book while taking notes with a simple book and quill. 'Blasted primitive technology! Who ever is in charge of the technological advances on this country should make the ball pens faster!' Lucius screamed inwardly once more.

Every word he wrote was made in an amazing penmanship yet he felt that writing with a quill was extremely unpleasant compared to a ball pointed pens. Of course he wouldn't say such words from his mouth as to not curse out loud.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Excuse me young master, may we please enter?" A deep and slightly raspy voice came from the door.

"You may." Lucius did not bat an eye to the old man in a butler outfit opening the door and entering the room followed by multiple maids. They started cleaning the room and changing Lucius bedsheets, the old butler was carrying a tray with teacups and a teapot.

"Would you like a drink young master? You've woken quite early this time once again." The old butler did not need an answer and poured a cup with tea, he only asked in order to notify Lucius which enjoyed the tea the old butler made.

"I absolutely would Laurence, but could you add a spoon full of suger." Although Lucius was reading and taking notes, he still answered his butler Laurence.

"It is ready at your side young master, but do finish up. You tend to skip the family breakfast every often. The madame has been proud of your accomplishments however she has been saddened at your absence every day. I hope you can spend more time with them, it also saddens me to see you lock yourself in the study." The old butler said in a humble tone while placing the saucer and teacup on the right side of the table right beside the young boy.

Lucius paused for a moment before taking out a bookmark out of the cabinet of the table. "Inform her that i'll be seeing her shortly." He said while placing the bookmark on the page of his book. Seeing this the old butler had a smile on his place.

"As you wish young master." The old butler gave a bow before leaving with the other maids and closing the door.

'It had been that long huh... Oh yeah. Next month should be my birthday. Hmmm...' Lucius thought while getting off his chair.

As an 11 year old child his body was still developing however his mind had already been enlarged. Having the memories of his old life allowed him to be labeled a genius and of course it served as an ego boost to the depressed failure known as Paul. He began already speaking the language of his new world at the age of 4 fluently, started writing and reading at 5, and now he needed only a few months more for his initiation, or so what the servants and his family call.

He began unbuttoning his shirt while looking for a simple yet pleasing clothes. His mother was very strict on his manners and discipline, so as to not anger her he chose the ones best suited. He took a white shirt with long sleeves, a black tunic vest, paired with dark brown trousers, black leather gloves, and black shoes. Everything was tailored for him, of course not all were from professional tailors. His mother had once gifted him a small light green ribbon to serve as a tie for his collar. Placing everything on his bed while taking off his clothes, he remembered his first time wearing the tie.

The tie was a gift from his mother 4 years ago. It was a reward for his excellent and well mannered behavior during an event on the Devinsworth household. Essentially a party for the high class noblemen, he was introduced to a few heiress of some families however he didn't want to start bonding with anyone from his age. He also didn't need to test if the F.B.I. could locate him.

He acted indifferent and aloof while not being too rude nor too kind. Since his rebirth Lucius wanted nothing more than to rid himself with the thought of comparing reality to the fictional novels he used to read. In order to never obtain the 'childhood friend' problem, he acted indifferent and cold to near all woman and of course to all men as well.

*Sip*

He took large sip of his tea. It tasted good. Having a sweet flavour that Lucius liked added with the suger, it gave him a sweet tooth for it.

After already being finished wearing the clothes except the ribbon. He checked his large mirror placed on the left side of the room, which he still found useless and redundant. He didn't even take up half of the entire mirror. Never the less he looked good.

"I wonder, how will i celebrate it again this year. It truly is wasteful and time consuming. Oh well, it can't be help, i might at least enjoy the occasion for once." He said while tying the ribbon.

Once he was done he went out of his room and went towards his mother's room. It had always been similar like this since his third birthday. It was not that his life of luxury had gotten him to forget the importance of celebration. No, he lost that long ago on earth. What used to be a joyous occasion turned to a bad memory. He hated and despised that memory even.

He stopped and stared at the clear blue sky 'I wonder how they're doing.'. Most of all the novels Lucius have read had protagonists wanting to return home, they were born with a 3 gifts. How he would love to own such unlimited strength. But a slow and relaxing life as a nobleman of a kingdom was satisfying to Lucius, with both money and identity of his family he could obtain what he wanted. Perhaps his earth family had already moved on with their lives or maybe he never existed and memories of himself was gone on everyone that used to know him or so that is what Lucius thinks. He didn't have answers and only had questions he could only believe in his intuition telling him they were just fine. With him no longer around it would more or less help them from no longer supporting a failure.

At least in this new world, he feels gifted. With his previous world knowledge he was called a genius. Throughout 7 years of his life he had already studied the interesting subjects of the new world he lived on. His father was a Marquis of Behellin kingdom, a large kingdom on the far east of the continent Phutur. In this world magic existed which did not surprise Lucius that the world's empires and kingdoms have fully militarized and substituted nuclear bombs with magic.

Magic was cultivated to the extreme turning an old man in robes casting flaming balls to launch explosive projectiles towards their target to armoured soldiers carrying staves and swords embedded with gems while slashing and firing the elements of nature. Although magic became the equivalent of a gun, it was still legal to use and strengthen their magic. It had been years since the last war of the continent and they had lived in a peaceful times but that did not mean there were no threats. Upon discovering that magic existed, Lucius also found that magical monsters existed as well. It differentiated from monsters with fire, wind, water, and earth to dragons, griffons, krakens, and kaijus.

With the threat of monsters, humanity could not watch a let them develop. The main problem was not their strength but population. Thankfully the other races that had sentience and civilizations of their own also saw the threat of monsters or more specifically the "magic monsters" or other known as Aether Beasts. The races of all civilization were vast and wide, most of them were Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, Orcs, Gnomes, Dryad, Demons, Giants, and Dragons. They all had different strength and intellect yet they all saw the Aether Beasts as a problem.

It was unknown why the Aether Beast were a large problem as all knowledge past their appearance, behavior, name, and power were all restricted. Lucius hypothesized that the Aether Beasts' origins were connect to gods.

Lucius was intrigued and curious of the reason but he never chose to act. If it was connected to any lovecraftian gods then he might never recover from seeing the truth even if he invented bleach and use them on his own eyes. He focused on the present rather than the future, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why they call it the present" Lucius muttered the words of a wise old tortoise.

He had stopped and arrived in front of a room. After knocking the on the door he heard a voice from the other side.
