Bestiary

Creatures categorized by volume of first real appearance, one could argue about some cases where the protagonists either mentioned or saw them but didn't use their real names. Until the proper name is given, they will not be listed in this bestiary (examples: One-Eye, hunting dogs of the Ancient/Spoilers Volume ???, Volume III)

Volume I

Akûl: four armed demon. One of the strongest demonic being and the direct evolution of the Kûl, their ancestors. The drawback is their hunger that will send them in an uncontrollable rage, preventing them to distinguish their allies from their foes.

Duvodiad: Man-Beast capable of shape morphing in any creature they killed. A ritual is however needed after the kill that will leave the duvodiad vulnerable.

Orodil: Blue humanoid created by the Ancients. Capable of sensing and feeling the mana but not use it by themselves.

Volume II

Gryphon: Monster whose head is similar to the one of an eagle but with the rest of its body is shaped like a lion. The top of its back is covered in feathers and two strong wings are present. In the middle of its body, the feathers let their places to the sturdy leather and the paws have sharp claws. The four limbs are shaped like those from a lion.

Hyppogryph: Monster whose head is similar to the one of an eagle but with the rest of its body is shaped like a horse. The top of its back is covered in feathers and two strong wings are present. In the middle of its body, the feathers let their places to the sturdy leather and the legs have hard hooves at their ends. The four limbs are shaped like those from a horse.

Troll: Tall creature vaguely humanoid. Has nearly no capability at manipulating mana, except some very rare exceptions. Robust, strong and vigorous, their skin is comparable to even some metals. Commonly found with a height of 3 meters, multiple races were created, all suitable for one particular environment. With passing generations, the tribe will always adapt, to the cold, the heat, the darkness or the light.

Volume III

Saksa: Formerly a bestial tribe of reptilians, now known as the most dangerous creatures in the entire Universe. The apex predator built by the Ancient, a single entity capable of killing both the material and the ethereal, the living and the dead. Only its creator knows its full potential, but the few races that encountered it never forgot the terrible price they had to pay just to destroy one Saksa. Every one of them is slightly different from the others, all tailored for the planet and environment they were supposed to protect. Until the threat is enough to menace the world they defend, they will not activate themselves.

Skorpus: Monster that has taken the form of a giant scorpion. Not a lot of differences between the two creatures, besides the incredibly durable external skeleton of the Skorpus, rendering it impervious to many weapons. His yellow carapace allows it to easily disguise itself in the desert, preferring ambushes instead of a frontal assault. Its only flaw is its inability to outpace any monsters in the desert.

Zombie: Well, zombies. Like, you get the idea. If not, take the example of those from L4D, the standard one. Not intelligent nor quicker than Usain Bolt like in 28 days later, but not as slow as those from Walking Dead.

Skeleton: ... Well, look above. That's, like, feel free to imagine a white skeleton of a human. That's it. Their strength will depend on the situation.

Ghoul: An generally improved version of a zombie. Similar to a rotting corpse still moving, they rely on the mana generated by their core to move. With a hardened skin and extremely sharp claws, they are capable of tearing apart light defenses like it's nothing. The poisonous blood that spread in their body and the numerous diseases that are present on their rotten flesh makes any injuries from them a death sentence. As smart as a human but with a mind of a predator, a ghoul is capable of analyzing a situation in front of it and makes decisions on that. Their understanding of a greater picture is, however, quite lacking, relegated to be subordinates and not commandants.
