6 Betrayal

" So, what power did you guys choose? I had three different elemental power choices. I chose Earth manipulation," Ella said.

" I had three choices too. Two of them were elemental, and the third was unique. I chose spatial manipulation,' said Alexander.

" I guess everyone gets two elemental choices and unique power. I chose darkness manipulation and James' chose dark fire manipulation." The whole group then shifted their eyes towards Orien. He let out a nervous laugh and said " I chose predatory healing. Ella's face had a look of confusion. " How can healing be predatory? What was in the description?"

" I rather not say."

"That's fine. I won't pry"

As the conversation ended, the group decided to figure out who would be on the watch. Orien volunteered, thinking that divine-eyes would be best for finding danger. The rest of the group slept around the bonfire.

' My life in two separate worlds has been dangerous. Who would have thought the one I want to stay in, has magic and monsters.' He let out a light chuckle before looking into the star-filled sky.

Hours pass and nothing happens outside. Melissa wakes up and walks toward Orien who is staring blankly into the forest. As she got closer, she saw him crying tears of blood.

" Hey, are you ok? What is wrong with your eyes," she said frantically.

Orien woke up from his daze, surprised at the sudden newcomer.

"I'm fine. I was just training my power." While this wasn't a lie, the real reason was because of him thinking about his family on Earth. Noticing that he was hiding something, Melissa decided to ask questions.

" Tell me about what has gotten you so depressed. Every time I look into those pretty eyes of yours, I see nothing but suffering and sadness."

Orien looked in her eyes with his face still stained with blood. 'Do divine-eyes work in this situation?' he thought. He activated divine-eyes, and she was green. He also noticed that James was pretending to be asleep in the corner of his eye.

" On earth, I had a family who hated me. My peers also hated me. I also suffered a lot of bullying due to how sickly I looked. I didn't understand what I did to deserve the ridicule, but I fought through it and accepted my fate. It wasn't until my power caused a car accident that would kill my youngest sibling and lose my arm. Would you be sad if that were your life? I am sure you suffered a lot too, but I do not want to hear it."

They gazed into each other's eyes. Their hearts began to beat fast. Melissa's face became flushed. Their breaths became heavy. Heavy footsteps broke their stare.

"What are you two love birds talking about," said Ella.

The two said nothing and looked into the forest.

" Orien, you should get some sleep. Let the girls have our time."

Orien went towards the bonfire, where he slept soon after.

" So..."

" So what?"

" I saw the way you looked at him. Don't worry, I was attracted to him too. "

Melissa ignored Ella and they both stood guard in front of the cave. Morning came, and Orien shot up out of his sleep as divine-eyes boosted his hearing once more. He ran past the group to get to the entrance of the cave. They looked at him puzzled.

" What's wrong," said Ella.

As he looked with divine-eyes; the forest and lake ahead of them were crimson red.

" We need to leave now! He knows we are here"

Moments later, the ground vibrated and the sound of hooves could be heard in the distance.

" Stick together and follow me. I'll give us the best chance of survival."

" Why you? I am the reason they survived this long in the first place. Without me, you would still be wandering the forest or dead," said James.

' Is he jealous of me trying to lead? Why is he being so combative' Orien thought.

" This isn't the time for arguing, my abili,"

" Your ability is not omnipotent. You could not even find shelter on your own. You two need to decide who you are going with. Me or him?"

Ella began to walk toward Orien when Alexander forcefully grabbed her arm and walked toward James.

" I'm sorry, but he did get used this far and found us shelter," said Alexander.

" We're leaving now. Let's go!" said James.

The group of four ran west out of the cave. Orien walked out of the cave using his ability once more. He looked west and the color was grey. Ahead of him was grey and to his East was grey."

' One out of three chances that I die.'

Orien ran east. The terrain changed from a forest to a hill.

' There is nowhere to hide here. '

There were only small grass and hills in front of him.

' I hope the centaur avoids the both of us. '

A moment later, the ground shook. and the feeling of despair he felt in the past, had come again.
