10 Chapter 9. A Weird week.

Just as I had thought, my week was going to change, unexpectedly or should I rather say expectedly, I found myself next to Helio in his study, as his maid for the rest of the week when the week wasn't even over yet. I felt frustrated. I don't know what's going on but it's better he pretends to not remember what happened that night than give me hints of him knowing I was the one who helped him, like that piercing stare that makes me feel uncomfortable and scared at the same time. It's not like I had intended to help him, I had coincidentally seen him lying helpless and decided to help.

"Rebecca was it?" He suddenly asked. I felt awkward, determined to escape from this place and his ever piercing gaze. If he knew what my name was then why that question. I wanna leave now. "Any word from your father."

"No sir, and it's funny because I remember you taking away my phone." I tell him, there's no reason for sarcasm when he did in fact take my phone away, and is now asking if I received any news from him. "But, you know if you return my phone, I might be able to get in touch with him...."

"..that won't be necessary." He shunned me like a mosquito, I frown and turned away. It's not like I wanted to be here in the first place, this morning when I was called to Helio's office, the first thing I was told was that the person in charge for the week, A.K.A. Maria was unavailable as her reward for helping her boss also included the rest of the week off. I was beyond frustrated but this situation was worse than I had imagined it would be.

Damnit.

"Then sir." I hated addressing my kidnapper as 'Sir' but as I said, I didn't have a choice otherwise I would be calling him Helio repeatedly. "Can I at least fetch my things from my apartment, you know, my room lacks a few things, I also lack a bathroom." I reminded him, but Helio looked at me uninterested. He who was overseeing his papers, stopped and caressed his temples, then gave a loud sigh.

"Does a prisoner have a right to request for things?"

"No sir." Prisoner, more like hostage, who forcefully adbucts a young woman and calls her a prisoner, I've been kidnapped for crying out loud. "Then can I at least get painting equipment, I mean, I am an artist after all so I need to paint, if I want to pay you back I will have to definitely make some money."

I waited patiently for Helios answer, my goal was to be persistent like a fly, although I regret being stuck with him all through the week, I also have to thank him for this opportunity.

"I'll think about that." He says and then the room falls into an awkward silence. Helio wore a more serious expression than usual as he entered work mode. I was too nervous to say anything so I began humming. It wasn't anything special but the lullaby of Mary had a Little lamb. Lost in the rythme I entered into one song and another and lost myself when I heard something snap. "Seriously would you stop that." I couldn't help but notice that the pen in Helio's hand had snapped in half.

Ah, I was waiting for you to get pissed, seriously how long does it take you to get angry. "Stop what?" I asked like a fool.

"The humming." He said angrily. His veins were budging, they felt like works as they moved and pumped. Maybe I may have overdone it a bit.

"Maybe if you allow me to well, you know, grab a couple of my things then maybe I might leave your side and not hum." I patiently wait for Helio who avoids eye contact with me, he doesn't look that happy or impressed but if I just push him a bit more then maybe I might be able to get what I want from him.

"I don't think that would be possible." A brief feeling of loss and sorrow overwhelmed me, it's impossible to get through him. Helio stretches his hand towards my direction, underneath his small tender hand was a book and pen. "Write what you need here, I'll ask someone to fetch them for you." Gold, I've hit the jackpot. He's actually letting me have my things. I never thought he would agree, he's not as bad as he seems.

"Thanks a lot sir." I bow repeatedly to Helio as I hold the book and pen, writing down my needs and being careful not to be too demanding. My paint brushes and canvas were my first priority then everything came next. After a long comprehensive list of requirements, I hand him the list and he goes through them.

Seeing Helio stare comprehensively at the least made my heart race. "Um, you don't need to approve them all, just the first five and everything else can be ignored." I plead with him.

"I'll tell Isaac to get everything you want, if you agree to never disturb me during working hours."

Helio turned to me and I couldn't help but notice his face, my heart fluttered seeing those long lashes, and I drowned in those green eyes of his. Wait, what's wrong with me. What am I doing? "Cca…. Rebecca."

I jerked after being called suddenly, "yes sir?!" I asked, shaken.

I find Helio on his feet as he gathers his papers on his desk. "If you're done getting caught up in a trance, you can help me with my things I'll be leaving for a meeting now." He tells me. I rush over to the table and get his papers, and put them in a file, the file goes into an office bag on his table and I carry it, trailing behind him in a hurry. I'll try my best to get on his good side, then maybe if I get him to open up more then maybe I can finally get an insight on what happened and why my father disappeared of a sudden, no matter what anyone says, my father wasn't the kind of person to run away from his responsibilities because he made a mistake or something, something is fishy and it's not just with my father, first I'll need to know what kind of information he stole.
