Chapter 1

The whole city is in distress. All the cops of the town are planted along the Tupac Lane to investigate the biggest murder of this year. The most feared gangster, Alexander McCann was murdered last night, at 10.00

pm in his bathroom. While some are relieved from his death, some are in miser. His enemies are smiling at his dead body but still with a question in their minds- Who killed him?

"Hello?" Her pleasant-voice asks the person on the other end. Her innocent voice can make anyone melt yet nobody knows the devil behind this angelic voice. "Is this Ember Cassidy?" A sarcastic gasp releases from her plump lips. "If you dialed Ember Cassidy's number then it's got to be her, right?" How stupid of someone to ask that, right? A smirk creeps up her face as a sigh from the other person reaches her ears. "Why do I even try? Anyways, you are needed at the Tupac Lane to investigate a murder."

"On my way,"

Okay, so you must be wondering who I am. Let me tell you! I am Ember Cassidy, a respected cop from the Crime Branch, specialist in encounters and solving murders and kidnappings. I honestly love my job. It's so adventurous. Everyday you get a new case and you go on a new adventure. The thrill that I get on punishing criminals is incomparable. Nothing gives me the peace that I get when I kill them and whip them with my own hands. Oh! How good it feels just by thinking! I don't want to be late so let's enter this new adventure!

"Good morning, everybody!" Greetings are a must when you meet someone, especially when I am meeting my fellow cops. Cloudy grey eyes meet my eyes as he spins around to face me. A charming smile tugs at the end of his lips. "Good morning," his soft voice pleases my ear. This handsome boy standing in front of me is Aster Wilson, a reputed cop from the police department. I don't know him personally but I always wish to work with him once. He is often in news for his marvellous works. It's impressive how much he owns in his young age. No matter what, I am his senior. I assume that he is the one who called me. I point my index finger towards him and he nods. "Yes, I am the one who called you," he further says. A smile triggers on my face.

"So, what's the case?"

"I guess you didn't get the news then," He starts. "The most-" he continues but my words cut them like a sword. "The most feared gangster was murdered last night at 22 pm in his bathroom, right?" I don't like it when someone underestimates me. It pricks me like a thorn and I hate it! I am sure that you would definitely mind if someone thinks of you as a stupid. He shakes his head and smiles at the corner of his lips. "Why did you ask then?" He shrugs his shoulders and opens his arms, giggling. "I know the case. I wanted you tell me the leads when I asked you what's the case," I reply in an obvious tone. He sheepishly smiles and responds with an "oh".

"Who reported the case?"

He points towards a young lady in her twenties surrounded by press reporters. "His maid, Julie Hallow." By a single close glance, I can see how weak she is looking. Her eyes red and baggy, her blonde hair resting on her shoulders, she is struggling to answer the questions of the reporters which are coming as a rocket. That's the reason I hate news reporters. Can't they see how scared and miserable she is? All they want is spicy news for their news channels to increase their popularity, no matter what it takes. They don't even care about the person's emotions. They only care about money and promotions. One of the news reporters is forcing the mic on her face for her to answer. That's it! I am loosing it now!

I push the reporter away from her and stand in between them. I grab the mic and I throw out of the window. "Excuse me, you-" he starts yelling but he's nothing compared to me. "Lower your voice!" My voice becomes so loud that everyone in the house stares at me. Heat slices up to my neck. My temper is no more in my control now. "Can't you see how scared she is!" I yell even louder. "But-" he starts defending himself. "Shut up!" I yell at the top of my lungs. "Listen to me clearly! I don't want any news reporters around this lane or at the police station. If I see any media reporters interfering in this case, I will not hesitate to put a molestation case on them. This is not a warning, this is a threat! Now pick your stuff and get lost!" This time my voice gets even louder than before. "This is our job! We have to do it! We have to inform the public all the incidents that are happening in the country and the fails of the police officers!" Another reporter yells, snapping his fingers on my face.

Before I can say anything, he moans with pain. Aster has his finger, captivated in his muscular hand. He moans louder as he twists it even harder. His face turns red with pain. Some cops try to come forward. "Stop! They should know how it feels like to be pain!" I restrain them. "What-" the other reporter tries to argue but I mentally kill with my eyes.
