54 Carlos To The Rescue

"That depends on what your definition of waste is," Jack said with a sly smile.

Wesley looked bewildered, wondering what Jack meant. "What do you mean?" he asked, puzzled.

Jack leaned back in his chair and asked, "Do you feel like the world slows down when your heart beats faster and you can concentrate better?"

Wesley was taken aback by Jack's words. "How did you know?" he asked, surprised.

"That's what you have, my friend," Jack said with a grin. "You have the bloodline of a master assassin flowing through your veins. It's not an anxiety disorder like you think, but an innate talent. A talent that only the top assassins possess."

Wesley's heart skipped a beat. "Me? An assassin?" he asked incredulously.

"Besides that, you are equally valuable to me because you can attract Carlos, your father," Jack continued.

"Also known as Cross, the most powerful assassin in the Assassin League! Although you didn't realize it, through my observation, I found that he has been watching you secretly."

Jack clicked his tongue twice and said, "What a ridiculous man."

Wesley was skeptical. "You're lying!" he retorted. "If he's been around, how could he be willing to let me live such a life? I would rather live in his world, filled with killings and being killed, than waste the rest of my life in this hellhole!"

Unbeknownst to Wesley, Carlos, who had been listening from outside the house, smiled wryly and shook his head. He had his own difficulties, but he also understood that, to a certain extent, he had decided this hellish life for Wesley. As a father, this was his mistake.

"Who knows? Maybe he thinks his world is too dark, so he doesn't want you to touch it?" Jack shrugged and stood up, putting his gun against Wesley's forehead. "Why don't we ask him in person?"

Wesley's heart was pounding as he felt the cold muzzle pressed against his temple. He couldn't believe what was happening.

But suddenly, the iron door was smashed open with a loud bang! "Be careful! Don't come in!" Wesley yelled with all his might.

Jack's gun was fired one step ahead of his roar, and Wesley saw the bullet heading towards the door at a speed not visible to the naked eye. He didn't have time to wonder how he could see the bullet flying through the air at such a speed.

In the slowed-down vision, Wesley saw two balls of flames light up at the door, one after another. Then, a bullet headed towards the one fired by Jack, and the two bullets collided precisely in the air.

The next thing Wesley knew, he saw a bullet flying towards him in slow motion, just missing his scalp. The scene only lasted a few tenths of a second, but to Wesley, it felt like an eternity.

Blood flowed to Wesley's feet, but he didn't care. He was panting heavily, focused on the direction of the door, which was still shrouded in darkness.

At the door, Wesley's eyes widened as he saw his father for the first time in his life. He couldn't believe that the unshaven, ordinary-looking man in front of him was his father, the most powerful assassin in the league.

They both stared at each other in silence for what felt like an eternity. Finally, Wesley mustered up the courage to speak, his voice trembling with emotion.

"So...you're my father?" he asked, still in shock.

Carlos nodded, his voice already hoarse from all the emotions he was feeling.

"You've been watching me all these years?" Wesley asked, his voice barely audible.

Carlos nodded again, this time with tears in his eyes.

"To protect me?" Wesley asked, his voice cracking with emotion.

Carlos took a deep breath and slowly nodded for the third time.

"Yes," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Wesley's heart felt like it was going to burst with all the emotions he was feeling. He had spent his entire life thinking that his father had abandoned him, but now he knew that his father had been protecting him all along.

"You know how much I long to escape from my current life, even if it means death?" Wesley asked, his voice filled with desperation.

Carlos was silent for a long time, contemplating his response. He knew that he had made a mistake in not being there for his son, but he also knew that he couldn't let Wesley go down the path of becoming an assassin like him.

"Perhaps he's right," Carlos finally said, his voice filled with regret. "I should have given you the power to choose, not make decisions for you."

"Let's go," he said, as he half-shouldered Wesley, who was weak and hungry from his time in captivity. "The rest of your life will be more exciting than you can imagine."

Wesley couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had always dreamed of a different life, but he never imagined that it could actually become a reality.

"What about...the...corpse?" Wesley asked, still in shock.

Carlos smirked and glanced back at the "corpse" lying on the ground through the cornor of his eyes. Jack raised its hand and gave him the middle finger as a result.

"Someone will take care of it," Carlos said, chooking. "Let's go, we're running out of time!"

With that, Carlos half-carried and half-dragged Wesley out of the abandoned building and into a world he never thought he'd see. As they disappeared into the night, Jack stood up and stretched, feeling satisfied with the night's events.

This is the plan Jack has made for Carlos.

Jack had meticulously planned out every detail of the scheme to make Carlos the hero. He had disguised himself as an enemy, tied up Wesley, and then called out to Carlos to stage a daring rescue. Carlos had stepped up to the challenge with gusto, charging in to save the day.

As Jack pretended to struggle against Carlos, the latter heroically took him down with a swift move, landing a finishing blow with precision. The act was convincing, and Jack lay motionless on the ground, playing his part perfectly.

Carlos then rushed to free Wesley, who was visibly relieved to see his rescuer. The two exchanged grateful nods before making their way back to safety.

The plan had worked flawlessly so far, and Jack was pleased with the outcome. He knew that the difficulty level of this operation was much higher than anything Carlos had done before.

As Jack packed his things and prepared to move on to the next mission, he couldn't help but smile to himself. He had successfully orchestrated a drama that would cement Carlos's reputation as a hero in Wesley.

The only glitch in the plan had been the bullet that Carlos had fired earlier, but Jack had managed to intercept it, ensuring that nobody got hurt. He had even produced fake blood to make the act more realistic.

As he left the scene, Jack couldn't help but wonder how the future would play out. After all, Carlos's was now in his debt, and he would not let him forget it anytime soon.
