Doyle had to smile then, although his gaze touched Bobby’s for only a second, before it dropped back to Fiona. “Yes, indeed it is wonderful. You can now stop reminding me that they’re coming and asking when.”

Finally, he took a half-step closer, past Fiona, and held out his hand. “Welcome to Ireland and to the O’Brien domain. I trust Liam has you settled comfortably and that the painted mulette is pleased with her new quarters? It is good to have you here.”

His eyes both denied and confirmed that final statement. Bobby took the other man’s hand and answered its firm pressure. The contact ended too soon.
