For the first time since she’d left her New Mexico home, Powwow was free. She sniffed the thick grass, made a circuit of her new home, and dropped to the ground to roll in the silky, damp green. Jumping up, she shook herself, then trotted over to sniff Fiona and Bobby through the rails.

“The wee creature is happy,” Liam declared. “And what’s not to love in our beautiful land? She’ll soon forget she was ever in another spot.” 6

After they watched a bit longer, Liam put Fiona back into the truck. Bobby followed, and they drove up to the rambling manor house perched on a low hill above the rest of the farm. A woman came out and walked the little girl into the house.

“Ye’ll be staying in me cottage down by the carriage house and the training track,” Liam explained to Bobby. “I’ll park the lorry and show you around.”
