“She’s a real special little lady,” he agreed. “The princess part fits perfect. I like her a lot, her spunk, eagerness, and bright, curious mind. She asks some incredible questions. I bet she reads and researches constantly.”

Doyle’s smile turned tender as he spoke of his niece. “She does read a lot. For the past year, she hasn’t been able to do too much else. I got her the best tablet-size computer I could find. Both here and at home, I have satellite network set up for her, and I’ve never censored her access other than a few limits on social media connections. Even at her worst point, her curiosity did not quite die, nor did her love of stories, especially those with magic and otherworldly aspects. Her father, my brother, called her his little princess from the time she was still in nappies. Who am I to argue with that, especially when it does fit so well?”
