“I know I’ve told you almost daily how pleased I am with your work on the little mule and her effect on Fiona. It’s almost a miracle. For a time, I really feared for her health and mental stability. Now, though, I’m sure she’s going to be all right. That’s worth more than any treasure to me.”

He paused and took another sip, but went on before Bobby could frame a reply. “I know it’s going to be some time yet before you feel the mule can start to be ridden. I certainly don’t want to rush things and either cause her harm or intrude on her training. The thing is, some business affairs have come up, and I have to return to Ireland for a few weeks, possibly even longer. As Fiona’s guardian, I have to manage the family estate, then I have other personal business I can neglect for only so long. This leaves me in a quandary.” 4
