5 An old legacy

[AN: Here's another one...]

In a secret old room of Ollivander's shop, the shop manager carefully examines the wand he sold to the boy earlier.

His name of course is Garrik Ollivander.

He was simply passionate when it comes to wands. His meticulous action came to a sudden stop when he heard a knock on his door.

A smile was painted on Ollivander's wrinkled face.

He carefully placed the wand inside the box and hid it inside his drawer. And hurriedly he went towards the door to receive that person.

"Ah Dumbledore, I'm glad you came. Forgive me for giving you troubles in this time of hour" Mr. Ollivander enthusiastically greeted.

"I am very much free of time anyways, Ollivander. But it is in my grievance that troubles keep on piling each day."

"Then come inside and have a sit. May I offer you something in exchange for the trouble, a tea maybe?"

Dumbledore clicked his tongue as he felt thirsty, "Ah yes please."

Mr. Ollivander busily prepared the tea for the both of them.

"So, what stuff you got for me?" Dumbledore started.

"Oh you will be surprise!" He exclaimed as he poured tea onto a teacup and gave it to Dumbledore.

"Then do tell me." Dumbledore said as he received his tea.

"But first, I must congratulate you. Hogwarts is full of talented individuals enrolling this year."

"Indeed. We received a lot of promising children."

"Do you have any particular that picked your interest?"

"Yes, I do."

"Oh I met two young wizards this morning, surpassing the talent of other children from the sacred families. Their potentials are limitless! I can hardly wait of what they can become in the future, a great wizard."

"Are you talking about young Alfred Stanford and Tom Riddle?"

"Yes. Very promising isn't it?"

"Hmm… can you tell me about their wands?"

Dumbledore already knew whom Ollivander is talking. Thus, he proceeds to asked him about their wands. He just simply wants to get over this conversation quickly and get on with his personal business.

"Yes about that… Young Mr. Tom's wand was Yew, 13 and a half inches and phoenix feather."

"It is quite powerful! It befits him. He is much cunning than any other children. What about young Stanford's wand?"

"Oh I almost sold young Mr. Tom's wand's twin to young Mr. Stanford. But fortunately, he requires a different wand."

"And this wand is?"

"Ehem… Young Stanford's wand is… this." He took out the previous wand from his drawer.

Seeing the wand, Dumbledore was dumbfounded, "What?! But that's the…" He exclaimed.

"'The Second'…" Mr. Ollivanders response was dull but from his narrow eyes, he was very serious.

"How is it possible? Are you sure, the wand chose him? Garrick, you must not be playing games here!"

"I dare not." He paused, "I am confident that the wand chose him. Believe me Albus… he has the allegiance of the wand."

"What are you thinking by giving him this extremely unpredictable wand? If that is the case, we cannot allow him to have it!"

"I object! The wand demands a master! And young Mr. Stanford is its sole master. No one else but him is capable of wielding the second Elder Wand!"

"Even so, we cannot allow such dangerous and unpredictable artefact on a young child. It might kill him, before his talent ever manifested."

"There are not too many who had the knowledge of the existence of the Elder Wand." He paused before continuing, "When my great grandfather successfully created his own master piece, there are slight deviations from the Elder Wand. My great grandfather's goal is to create another Elder Wand, he cannot replicate it, as there will never be two wands. Unlike, the Elder Wand it does not passes ownership if you defeat its master. The condition to wield 'the second' is unknown. How young Mr. Stanford managed to claim it is a mystery."

"How can you be so sure that the wand won't kill Mr. Stanford?"

"Unlike its previous owners, the wand didn't recognize them. So, the wand chose to kill them in the end. The idea of wands killing its master is truly dreadful! However, Albus I saw it with my own eyes. I saw him and the wand became one. But I must say it was a very terrifying sight! Terrifying, yes, but a marvelous to behold!"

"You know the history Ollivander… and Grindelwald."

"But Albus, this is the will of my ancestor, to have someone carry his creation. And as his direct descendant, I must fulfill his will." Ollivander declared.

"Is that final?"

Seeing Ollivander's resolute eyes, Albus couldn't help but felt the loss.

"This is very dangerous you know. For all we know, he might become another Grindelwald."

Although, Dumbledore has warm heart towards the young boy. He still compared him with his old friend for the sake of furthering his argument with Ollivander.

"He is a good child. You can't place your prejudice on a child."

"And so is Grindel."

"But he could become a great wizard… and a good one, if you guide him."

"I don't know. There are things we cannot hope to control like our future." He paused and took a sip of his tea, "What about our deal?"

"I think you should now be talking to young Stanford about that."

"I guess."

"I must say, I am saddened that the wand didn't choose you, Albus."

"To my own misgiving. I can only blame my luck."

"Gellert Grindelwald has the Elder Wand. To this very day, I am still looking forward when two holders of legendary relics meet in battle. Just the thought of it excites me. But it's a pity."

"All these years, I kept avoiding our confrontation because I know I stand no chance against him when he has the Elder. Only the power of another Elder can I hope to battle him."

"And yet, the both of you has a 50-50 chance to triumph over one another."

"Yes, it is. He is quick with his spells. He is too good to challenge and I may not make it alive. But I have to stop him… at any cost."

"But, I must say, the wand will probably murder you before your confrontation. It will never recognize you. You cannot overcome its will."

"Then perhaps there is a chance for me now." A small smile appeared on Dumbledore's lips.

"Chance? How so?"

"Now that we know it has a master, we could seek its help."

"You can't wish for young Mr. Stanford to do the battle for you. He's way younger you know."

"No, he can't fight. I do not wish for it to happen."

"Then… your plan is?"

"I could only hope to bewitch him and transfer the ownership of 'The Second'…"

"You're not serious, alright? That is not possible! It doesn't work that way!"

"There's always hope to those who try."

***

It's been a month after that visit at Diagon Alley and finally the big day has come.

"Mom, I'm going to be late!" I said loudly.

It's 7:30 AM and I am currently preparing myself. There are several maids attending to me. They took care of my luggage, but my Hogwarts stuffs are already prepared and hidden away from them, I did it myself.

Today is the day that I'm going to Hogwarts! Well, I am not excited.

No I'm not!

"Mom, dad! Hurry! I'm going to be late."

"Is it? Its seven so we still have ample of time. The train departs at 9:30. So what's the hurry?" My mom asked.

"What if we got caught in traffic?"

"Traffic? There is no traffic in London."

[AN: Yep, it's my misconception. Who knows, maybe there isn't back in the 1930's.]

"I am saying 'just what if'… I am not saying there is…"

"I don't get you. Sometimes, you're saying things that are out of this world."

"But traffic is 'not' out of this world."

"I know, but we do not have it here."

"Either way, we have to hurry."

"Geez, you don't have to be this excited?"

"I am not! I am just afraid of being late. Who knows, the professor's there are all very strict! I might get punish!"

"Okay, okay… just don't jump around. Look your garb is a mess."

"Mom, I am not excited!" I angrily cried.

"Alright! If you say so…"

And we went downstairs.

Throughout the entire month that I spent with this family, I started to open up my feelings to them which made them happy.

We spent happy time together. But I can't help to feel the tingling sensation in my heart. The reason was I learned from the maids that my parents aren't like these before.

The previous owner of this body lacks love from them. They only changed after that incident.

That poor boy, I simply pray for his soul.

Also, in this month, I spent my free time in checking my Hogwarts stuffs. I even broke some of my beakers.

It is not because I am excited. Ah no, I am just curious.

I learned some stuffs regarding magic, some history, and random stuffs. I familiarized myself with spells, but because I still didn't have a wand, I can't practice it. Nevertheless, I still think I can perfectly cast a spell.

When we reached outside the house, we saw dad with the family driver waiting by the car.

"Is everything in here? You haven't forgot anything?" He asked.

"Yup… so let's go to the train station."

"He's been this excited since last night." My mom explained.

"Is there something to be excited about?"

"Dad, mom, I am not excited!" I protested.

"What is so great about Hogwarts anyway?"

"It's the coolest school in the world. Every nerd wished to get on that school!"

"Is it? Even better than London University? Or Harvard?"

"Yup!" I sheepishly proclaimed.

AUTHOR'S NOTE (Please read):

Are you wondering why he acts like a silly child? Well, because only his consciousness is an adult. He still has the brain of a child. And according to science (if we can apply it here) there are aspects in a child's development that amounts from his/her brain. So since a child has small brain, it has little processing power. That is why, emotional behavior of a child is simple – they play whenever they want, eat and sleep without much concerns. Well, that is how I understand, I am not a scientist though.

To further my explanation. His adult's thinking merge with a child's thinking. His consciousness now resides in a small brain. And because he has previous experience and knowledge, it needed to be stored (somehow). Thus, it took a portion from the brain to store information.

Now that the brain has the influx of information, it has to cope with it. Hence, it expanded its processing power many times. And because of this, he became smarter – a genius/prodigy. It will explain why he can understand things rather easily as he grows. But for now, his brain is taking its time to accommodate this change. As change never happen in a day. But that doesn't mean it stopped him from thinking and acting like a child. Because there is still a portion of a child thought process that does not diminished. As the body still follows the cycle of growth.

He doesn't realize that he is getting smarter each day. And of course, he will not have an omnipotent brain, he will reach that limit somehow.

He will have a higher IQ than most people. But if circumstances allow it, he can be outsmarted and can make errors. I should tell you this now, he doesn't hold this world on his palm. Even the great Dumbledore and Voldemort is subjected to failure. So he will also suffer from it, but ultimately he will learn from it.

Is he overpowered? Yes. In many ways, but of course, he has to exchange something for that power – his empathy for example. The more he grew strong, the less empathetic he becomes.

And yes, about the power of Obscurus. If I give a background of how he came to possess it, I can only say the previous owner of the body suppressed his power because he feared it.

It will not be as powerful as Credence, but its power is still a force to be reckoned. Considering the fact that the more a child suppressed their magic, the more prevalent an obscurus becomes. If not for our MC, he will become a complete obscurus.

His other source of power is his powerful soul (pretty obvious), magic capacity, and his intellect (though, it will take time).

As for his secret. There will be no one in this world who can penetrate the deepest of his thoughts that hides his secret. Well, for some certain phenomena no one can or not even anything. Just think of it as some reincarnation law or whatever. Afterall, you can't deny that he is an anomaly in that world. There's certainly some rules that bound him. It also makes him a natural born occlumen.]
