27 Red Eyes, Black Wolf

"You know, that was pretty impressive, would you mind forming a temporary empathy link so we can communicate?" Iskandor asks and the pup nods in response.

"To form a temporary link it normally requires both sides agreement, and a short request, however based on ones strength they are capable of doing so without the need of the prior 'requirements'." Serena explains, "Just say 'I Iskandor Dracos humbly request to bond with you, so that we can communicate and understand one another.' After that he just needs to accept the request."

Iskandor proceeds to repeat the words and the pup agrees.

"As you heard I'm Iskandor, your pack was attacked and if I hadn't come along there's a good chance you may not have made it, when you are ready I'll let you search for your pack if you would like, or you could follow by my side, not as master and servant but as loyal companions. When you are ready and if you choose to follow me I'd like to give you a name and form a permanent empathy link." Iskandor softly explains.

"Name now, link later." The pup responds.

"How about Fenrir? Where I come from there was a myth of a wolf who was the son of Loki, a god of mischief and trickery, Fenrir is said to have eaten Odin, the chieftain among the gods of this mythos."

"I like..." Fenrir agrees.

"I feel that the name will become well know if you choose to follow me, as I doubt anyone here knows of it." Iskandor continues. "So Fenrir, want to join us for the time being? If you chose to follow me you are free to leave whenever, assuming you are in good health."

"I'll follow, but as an equal." Fenrir proposes.

"I would have it no other way." Iskandor agrees. "Do you want to do the permanent link now or wait a bit? I don't know the process so it's up to you."

"Wait a bit, I wish to see the structure of your pack." Fenrir says.

"I guess you'd say I'm the alpha, but even then I try to treat everyone as my equal, even if I may be better or worse at stuff than the others." Iskandor explains. "This is Lar, I grew up with her, she's a lot like a sister to me, even if she isn't. This is Hikari, a friend I made after stumbling across her, she has amnesia, meaning she doesn't have much memory of the past. And this is Serena, I've attempted to court her to be my mate... Hasn't worked out... yet..." Iskandor introduces, causing Lar to laugh at the end. "But there's another side to my story, I have memories of 2 lives, this one and one from elsewhere, somewhere where magic didn't exist and natural life was all but extinct, but that's a tale for another day." As they were talking they were heading East, and it seems even with the detour they were making really good time, just shy of half way there.

"Should we set up camp for the night? It's a tad early but considering how fast we are going it won't pose an issue, and it seems we worked up a bit of an appetite dealing with the cult." Hikari suggests.

"Fine by me, it seems you've taken the role of task manager, making sure we get there on time and such and you seem to be a great strategist." Iskandor compliments. "Even if you aren't the brightest in magic or tech you have a plethora of practical knowledge on survival and team management. even if you don't consciously remember it."

"Thank you, any objections?" Hikari replies and no one has an objection.

"Fenrir, want to be my assistant chef? I know wolves generally eat raw meat but if you are willing you are free to help in any way you can, even without hands." Iskandor asks.

"Sure, won't be much help but we could easily talk more." Fenrir responds.

"Alright, it seems the more you talk the quicker you pick up speech, faster than I'd expect, so I have no problem chatting." Iskandor replies.

"Meat I assume? Considering wolves such as myself eat meat." Fenrir asks.

"Unless you wanna try something else, but I've been craving steak, but the closest thing I can do is deer, can I check your wounds real quick?" Iskandor asks and Fenrir agrees instantly. "Looks great, you must heal really fast like myself... We have a ton of similarities... Red eyes, black scales/hair/fur, fast healing... And for various reasons got separated from our parents... Maybe that cultist had a bit of a point... A lot of questionable shit has happened to me, and you too..."

"Don't bother with unnecessary thought." Fenrir wisely suggests.

"You have a point, I just never seem to be able to do it, my mind never slows, much less stops..." Iskandor replies. "Anyways, we still got some venison, if I make this do you think your up to pulling a branch off a berry bush? If so make sure it's not thorny."

"Not a problem, I smell some a few dozen yards north, going by your measurements anyway." Fenrir responds and runs off North.

Iskandor in the meantime pulls out some sauces and spices that keep well on journeys and prepares the venison and starts to cook it on a grate a bit higher up from the fire than normal. Once he finishes that Fenrir arrived with a fairly large branch holding several dozen blueberries.

"Perfect, that's a great choice. Do you like scratches behind the ear?" Iskandor asks.

"Not sure, let's see." Fenrir replies and almost immediately turns to putty after the scratching begins. Fenrir quickly finds himself on his back with a leg twitching cutely.

"Part of me wants to do what was referred to baby talk... in my first life people tended to talk like that to dogs... Even if it's stupid... I'm sure some dogs enjoyed it though. Oh, dogs are basically wolves bred to be loyal to human owners and in some cases have different traits. I personally don't fully agree with the selective breeding, even if it had interesting results, just thought you should know that." Iskandor says. The conversation drags on and the women eventually show up and eat a nice meal and head to their respective rooms in the tent and Fenrir preffered to stay outside, so it worked out well.
