1 Chapter 1: The Disappearance

My name is knight. I have a sister named Zee. We were raised by our Father growing up. When he wasn't here and working we would have our neighbor look after us. I was only 12 My sister was 9 years old. When dad disappeared. My mom died when my sister was still a baby from an illness I was told. Now this chapter is about how I remember dad's disappearance. It was 4 years ago today.

We were off having fun with the neighbors kids since she was a single mom. They kids were our age. They were both boys and I can tell my sister really liked the one closer to her age. I would even say has a crush. We were having fun outside then it was dinner time. That is when she announced something was wrong. "What's wrong? Ms. Sun." I said as she looked sad. "Kids. Its your father." "What?! What happened to dad?" said Zee. "Your father has gone missing. At least that is what the people at his job said." My father worked for a company that hunted for the food that the stores store meat. "How can dad possibly go missing on a hunting trip unless he was killed?" "I don't know Knight. I really don't know. Your father's friend is supposed to be coming over tomorrow to talk about it to you and your sister. Also I won't be able to take you in I am sorry. He will be talking about that as well." "No! I don't want to leave this neighborhood!" I yelled. Then I noticed Zee looked mad too. I had to calm her down or she will get sick. "Sorry sis. Calm down. You know what happens when you get this way. We both need to calm down." I hugged my sister and that usually calmed her down. "I Just hope dad is ok." "I know me too hopefully we will find out." "You can stay the night here until he comes tomorrow." Said Ms. Sun. "Whatever." I said. Then I went in the room me and my sister stayed in when we were here. "Come on sis. Lets go to bed." "Ok brother." Before Ms. Sun went to bed she checked on the poor kids and they were sound asleep but not peaceful they had tears running down their eyes. She kissed both of their foreheads and rubbed their hair gently and said she loved them and left the room.

The next day a man that looked closer to my dad's age came by. "Hello Knight and Zee. Do you remember me?" said the man. "Yeah I remember you. You are dad's best friend." I said. "So what happened to dad?" "Well let's go somewhere to talk privately. Do you mind Ms. Sun?" "No please go ahead. We hope to see you again someday kids. We will be praying for you." I ran over to give Ms. Sun a hug and my sister did too. Then we both hugged her kids saying we will miss them. I notice my sister whispered into the younger ones ear that is her age and he was shocked or awhile then calmed down. He nodded. We all cried as we were leaving. Yes I think that was the last time I cried oh wait there was one other time but we will get to that part later.

Now it was just us 3. Dad's friend me and my little sister. "So dad told us to call you uncle. So Uncle Bain. What happened to our father? Where are we going to live now?" "Here is the thing. I'm not supposed to tell you but you have the right to know. Your father didn't go hunting." "I figured as much if he went missing. So what happened to him? What were you doing?" "Uh I was with him when it happened. We were doing things your mother didn't like when she was alive. We went out to the mountains. I thought your father was right behind me but he wasn't. I searched everywhere that I thought I had lost him but I can't find him anywhere. Kids I'll tell you what. My wife and I don't have any kids. You have two choices. Live with us or go to an Orphanage. I'm sorry you have to choose this way." "Let me talk with my sister for a minute. Don't worry we won't go far." "Ok stay in sight all right?" "Yeah I know." Then we found a tree and hid behind it. I talked with my little sister. "Hey Zee. So what do you think of living with uncle Bain? He is dad's best friend. Or the other idea is going to an orphanage Plus I think Uncle Bain will put us in school anyway." "So what do you want to do?" "I guess Uncle Bain." "Ok I was thinking that too I just wanted to see what you wanted."

We went over to Bain and my sister spoke. "Ok We agree to living with you on one condition. When brother and I become teenagers. Whether is 13 or 16 We get to help you find father." "Now hold on now." "She has a valid point "Uncle Bain" He is our father after all. We have a right to help look ask much as you do." "Sigh. Fine. You will have to stay close to me got that? I don't want to lose you like I did your father." "Even if you did. You can almost guarantee my sister will be by my side." "Well lets just hope I don't loose you both then."

He brought a horse over for us. He rode the other one. My sister is only 9 but she is the same height as me. Lucky sis. She is going to be taller than me. Not fair. I still have 2 more years to grow and she has 9 more. "Can you two ride a horse?" "Yes dad taught us when we had horses. We had to get rid of them due to money situations." "Oh I see. That's good then. Ok hop on Blaze." I noticed that the horses he brought looked familiar. I knew my dad sold them but these two horses look just like them. Also the name sounds familiar. Its been a long time since we have had them. "Hey uncle? Where did you get these horses?" "Oh you finally noticed huh?" "Your father knew he had to sell the horses so he asked his buddies first if any of them could take them in. I of course was the only one." "I knew they looked familiar. Hey Blaze do you remember me?" The horse snorted. "Sorry if I forgot you buddy it was along time ago. Sis was only 5 it was 4 years ago." Then I patted the horses head and Knew he forgave me. "The one you are riding must be spirit right?" "Yes that's right. She is a pretty horse." "I names her spirit because she is so white like a ghost except her legs hair and nose area are black." Said Zee. "Oh well that makes since." I said to sis. "I always wondered why you called her that. Now I know."

We finally made it to his place and we walked inside the door with Bain. Bains wife heard the door and came running over. She gave us a big hug in tears saying, "I'm sorry kids. I'm so sorry." "Its ok. Its not your fault about dad. Its not Uncle Bains either." I said. "So I don't remember you much. What do I call you?" "Oh sorry kids. It has been 4 years since you seen me last. Just call me Auntie Quinn." "Ok Auntie Quinn where is our rooms please." Said Zee. "Oh nice manners. Follow me I will show you both to your rooms." She showed Zee first then me to mine. "We can fixed it up in a few days if its not to your liking." "Thanks Auntie Quinn. Oh and thank you for taking in our horses. We thought we would never see them again." "Oh sure no problem. We were actually thinking of getting horses anyway back then. We were also talking about adoption when we heard about your father then he talked to me about taking you two in instead then the next day he went to get you." "Oh I see. Well I am glad we can help." I said. After we got settled in the rooms me and my sister came out of our rooms.

"Hey Auntie and uncle. Can we go see the horses?" I said. "Yeah let me go with you." Said Bain. So he followed us to the stables so we can visit them and to be safe. I went over to Blaze and my sister went over to Spirit. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention what blaze looked like. He was a pretty brown horse with black on it like Spirit had he was a reddish-brown horse. He had a two color hair which was not normal for a horse. It was a mixture of black and sandy colored hair. I don't know why I called him Blaze. I guess I just liked the name back then. His tail was the same color as his mane. I pet Blazes nose and told him how nice it was to see him again. Then he neighed at me. "I missed you too buddy." Then he rubbed up against me. I looked over at my sister and the horse rubbed against her too. "Aww she remembers her finally." I said.

While we are petting the horses I said, "Hey uncle?" "Yes what is it Knight?" "Um are you going to continue looking for dad even though you have already looked all over?" "Yes I will continue looking for your father. Also after that if we find him in time or maybe before we find him. I still want to get to more kids. Another girl and boy. You will be sharing rooms with them is that ok?" "Is that ok?! Of course its ok! I have wanted a brother for the longest time!" "What about you Zee?" "I would love to have a sister. Older or younger I wouldn't care." "Hmph. I want a younger brother if possible. Not too young though. Maybe about 2 or 3 years younger. So about my sisters age." "Haha Ok I will talk to your auntie Quinn and see what she says. But I promise you. I will never stop looking for your father when I get the change. Every day after work. I will come home to let you guys know I'm ok then go search for your father ok?" "Thank you uncle. Just don't get lost too." "Oh I never go alone. I have our friends with us." "Ok good." I said. After awhile we went inside and it was dinner time.

"Hey uncle. So Are you going to put us in school here?" "Yes that is the plan. Lets see. Its still the beginning of when school just started to how about next month will that be enough time to settle here before that?" "Yes uncle that's fine." I said. Zee agreed. "Ok then let me call the school." So he called the school and told them our situation and when we would start. "Ok then kids. The beginning of next month you will be starting school." "Awesome thanks uncle." "Ok well we better get you some supplies and clothes. Honey what do you think about tomorrow going clothes and supplies shopping for them?" "Sure why not. I'll help Zee You can help Knight." "Ok sounds. Good to me." said Bain. "What about you two?" "Its fine." I said. "I would love to go shopping with Auntie. Auntie is so pretty." Said Zee. I agreed she is pretty she doesn't even look like she is 34 at all. I kept staring at her. Everyone noticed. "Hey Knight you ok?" said Bain. "Knight? Hey Knight you ok?" Bain continued. After I tried to come back to my senses I didn't feel so good. I almost collapsed but uncle caught me. "Ok Knight lets get you to bed. You don't look so good." "Ha…Ha…Uncle. Ha…Ha.." I Said weakly. "You'll be ok kid. Your just over stressed. You have been through a lot these last few days. Get some rest ok?" Said Bain. "Uncle….Wait….Your wife….she." Before he could say anymore he fell asleep. "Hang in there night. You'll be fine after some rest." Then Zee looked at uncle worriedly. "Uncle what was he going to say about Auntie?" "I don't know. I'm sure we will find out soon enough. Maybe she doesn't even know. I'm going to talk to her later tonight and find out." "Ok uncle. I'm going to my room see you later." "Ok see you."

Later that night it was dinner time. Knight had just woken up. He came out of the room to be with the family. "Hey Auntie? Can I see you for a minute alone? I have something I want to talk about that's not in front of everyone." "Ok sure. Then after we can all eat dinner." "Sure." Then I took her over to the stables to talk. "I know you are hiding something from uncle. Plus you look awefully familiar. Are you really the age you claim to be?" "What? Of course I am. I'm 34 why?" "Ok I'll go with that you must be lucky on age. I am smart for my age I was told. Then what else are you hiding from uncle?" "W-what do you mean?" "You know that stuttering usually means your embarrassed surprised or hiding something. There is nothing to be surprised about or embarrassed which makes me think you are hiding something. Whatever it is I will find out. Something is fishy about you. When I stared at you I felt something familiar that only a mother figure can have. You either tell uncle tonight or I will tell him." "Fine Fine I will tell him tonight. Just to let you know I am not your mother. There is a reason I have that vibe though. Just wait until you are 16 then I will tell you. I will tell Bain tonight I promise." "You better."

Then we both went back inside and had our dinner. It was awkward since it was only the second day there. When we start school I bet it would be more of a topic at dinner. Then after dinner we all went to our rooms for bed. "Ok remember kids tomorrow we are going shopping." Said Bain. "Thanks Bain." Then we got ready for bed and since I slept basically the rest of the day I won't be able to so I stayed up to look at the books and sat on the desk to read them. I decided to try other things to see what I was into after I got bored of reading. I tried writing, drawing, finding things to tinker with. So far the thinks that interested me were all of them. "Hmm. Maybe I'm a guy that can't find a thing he likes and does everything. I want to draw and write for a bit." So I got some pens and pencils and started drawing and writing about the drawing underneath. "Sigh. I have a feeling when I go to an actual school it will be easy to find out what I am into. I am still young after all. I am only 12."

Finally morning came then I Was starting to get tired so I went to sleep. Then I remembered we had to go shopping. Except no matter what I did I couldn't get up and my eyes were getting heavier. Before I closed my eyes I saw my uncle. "Sorry uncle I'm tired and can't move. Since I slept half the day yesterday I stayed up all night and now my body won't move." "Ok I'll stay here with you. I'll let the girls go alone." "NO! Please. I don't want Zee alone with her right now." "Ok relax. I'll tell them we will leave tomorrow ok. Try to be up by noon." "Thanks uncle." Then I relaxed and fell asleep. "Hey Quinn change of plan. Knight isn't feeling good. We will go tomorrow." "Oh ok then." "Uncle can I ask you something privately?" "Sure. Lets go outside for a bit." SO they went outside and Zee talked. "I noticed my brother acting weird around Auntie Quinn. Is something wrong with her?" "Don't worry about it. She already told Knight that she would tell him when he was 16 what is going on ok? I'm not thrilled myself but I'm not going to leave her because of it." "Ok Uncle. I just wish I knew what was worrying brother about her and making him sick."
