Snowdin - Souls (1/?)

It is necessary to remember that in the first fight against Dust, he did not use the abilities of the other characters (Trident of Asgore, spears of Undyne and etc) for being new in this matter. He hasn't gotten used to killing yet, and it's going to take him a little longer to figure out he can utilize those abilities.

Just passing by to explain why Dust only used bones and gaster Blasters, like the OG Sans.

?° POV

Coming out of the ruins, Kumagawa came across a huge snow forest.

*You have left the Ruins*

*Location: Ruins -> Way to Snowdin*

*The forest gives you a pleasant feeling...(?)*

The 'snow forest' had an aura of intense death, in which highlighted the obvious.

Many monsters should have tried to flee to the woods when Dust started the 'massacre', and he pursued them. One by one began to die in the middle of the road and the result was this; a forest with a strange aura.

The 'World System' was confused when it analyzed Kumagawa's feelings to put a 'description' in the phrase, after all, anyone else would feel uncomfortable being near such a forest for the first time.

But unfortunately for the World System, this kid was Kumagawa.

( A/N: 'World System' does not mean that the Protagonist has a System. It only works in the Undertale Multiverse, every 'human', 'monster' and every other species has these windows that appear to say certain things and keep them informed.

It is necessary to remember that although this 'multiverse' is 'real life' in the fanfic, it still has codes, errors, viruses, bugs and many other things. As if the very reality of this multiverse is a game. )

- [ Hm~ This forest is definitely nice. Mister Skeleton did a great job taking care of it. ]

Kumagawa stated as he walked along the trail with some traces of dust, where some monsters should have died.

As much as the boy had a smile on his face, anyone with a 'sharp' eye could tell that he was a little angry.

With Dust at LV19, Kumagawa would have no monsters to kill easily, maybe some monsters remained but even if they were still alive, the chances of Kumagawa finding them were extremely low.

*You feel like you're being observed*

*Several eyes are around you.*

- [ Huh? ]

With this message that appeared in the black box - that Kumagawa does not know what is yet -, the boy stopped, confused.

He looked around for information but for his confusion he could find nothing.

- [ But there's no one here?]

The Boy began to think for himself why this message should appear, until his gaze landed in the dust a little in front of him.

- [ Ah! Now it makes sense~ ]

With a happy tone of voice - and a sudden change of attitude -, Kumagawa closed his eyes for a moment, and after a few seconds, opened them again.

No visible change happened in Kumagawa's eyes, but for him...

Several ghosts were flying around Kumagawa, all of them mostly from monsters killed by Dust.

What he did to think about it was something simple, yet somewhat complex.

Using the basic information he possessed - along with a tiny knowledge of the capabilities of All Fiction-, the idea of being observed passed through the boy's mind several times, and only after remembering the words of 'Darkness Devil', He knew what was going on.

The 'Darkness Devil' had told him that it was not to use logic on these worlds and that much did not make sense, and adding this to the information from the 'black box' - world system -, he deduced that there was a possibility that what was watching him was an 'astral' being.

The reason he could sense it and was notified, but Dust wasn't, it was a mystery. And that mystery he would solve in the future, as well as the other pending mysteries.

- [ Let's see...maybe this works? ]

Looking at the 'desperate' Ghosts - due to the last emotion they felt before they died -, Kumagawa's pink soul appeared in front of his chest.

He stretched out his hands forward and guided his soul into the palm of his hands, and crushed it. Just as before, his F.E.A.R. Weapon was created, giving space to two screws.

Curious and somewhat excited, Kumagawa approached one of the Ghosts and stabbed him with his F.E.A.R. Weapon, causing a scream of agony to come out of the ghost before it deformed, as if it had been absorbed by his F.E.A.R. Weapon.

*You killed a Ghost*

*Your LV increased by 1*

LV: 8 -> 9

( A/N: Okay, I'll explain the reason for this. There are concrete and extremely valid explanations for Kumagawa to be able to feel and notice the 'Ghosts' even without being able to see them, but this is a major spoiler, so I'm not saying it, but I will say why he can hit a Ghost without using 'All Fiction'.

The 'Weapon F.E.A.R.' is his 'Soul' shaped into a Weapon, with some additional capabilities. And ghosts are practically 'astral remnants' so to speak. It is common for a Soul to be able to interact with a Ghost, and vice versa. )

- [ ... ]

- [ This is perfect. ]

A distorted aura of Greed surrounded Kumagawa, and a huge smile appeared on his face.

The simple idea of getting 'XP' to climb from 'LV' in an 'easy' way thanks to the killing of 'Dust' animated him. He wasn't worried at all about getting too strong to have fun on his fight against Dust, or future opponents.

He knew that if he wanted a chance against Dust and stronger opponents, he would need as much LV as possible. And that is exactly what he was going for. Without any fear of becoming excessively strong.

Chara POV

Now, I have to admit this kid is a lot more interesting than Frisk.

At first Frisk showed 'reluctance' to kill and even left some alive, but later they got used to killing others. The only thing they didn't approve of was damaging someone's soul.

( A/N: There are differences between Hearts called 'Souls' and actual 'Souls'. Explanations in the future. )

But this kid, no, this little monster, he didn't even hesitate for a single instant. That's extremely interesting.

My decision to integrate myself into his Soul just proved that my intuition is always right. But...the question is, would he accept it?

It is virtually impossible for someone so cunning and intelligent to accept such an offer without even knowing the cons of it.

...

But it's a necessary risk. If I take too long I may end up disappearing, the fear and hatred that this boy stores inside him is extremely strong, but not strong enough to keep me alive just by being around him.

I'll need to lodge in his soul as soon as possible.

?° POV

As Kumagawa killed the 'Ghosts', the dark aura of the forest diminished more and more. When he finally finished killing everyone from the site, the street and a small part of the forest was basically 'normal' again, with no strange aura.

*Your LV has increased*

LV: 10->11

Gaining 3 LV after killing so many ghosts was satisfying. He was not worried or even less curious to see if he could reach the same LV as Dust or not because a simple thought was in his mind.

If monsters can stay this way, then even the most important monsters must be around. He would only need to search for them and take them out to get a greater amount of LV than necessary.

...

...

...

All the way through Snowdin was quiet, Kumagawa hunted some souls along the way, and rested in the most important hours.

Overall, it was a fun day for him. By the time he arrived in Snowdin, it was night time, and the city was feeling macabre.

It was visible that many monsters were killed here.

-----

* Kumagawa Misogi

* HP: 137/137

* LV: 11 -> 12

* Gold: 5

-----

- [ When thinking about it, I didn't receive any Gold killing Toriel again or the souls. I mean, that's fair. It would be strange to receive money by killing Souls. ]

Kumagawa reflected to himself as he briefly stared at the black screen in front of him.

With a smile on his face, he entered the town of Snowdin.

...

Snowdin was not a bad city, however sinister the aura of the city was, it was a fun place to live.

The view of this place at night, with so many houses connected - apparently many died inside the house - and light poles still lit up, was incredible.

Kumagawa was currently eating a strange ice cream that he got from a store, in which the owner was obviously dead.

The advantage of being in that place where people died 'recently' was that he got free food and housing, and he definitely supported it.

- [ Hm...where should I go now? Maybe look for a laboratory? Or a library? Might be useful. ]

Kumagawa reflected to himself as he walked around, looking for a decent place.

- Maybe a library will help you more than a laboratory right now. You don't know how to use a laboratory, right?

A playful yet deadly voice was heard by Kumagawa, said a voice was beside his ear.

He would definitely have turned to impale this being who suddenly appeared and frightened him, but he felt no 'real evil' in them, and only 'need', so he did not react in a 'natural' way.

- [ A good idea. Thank you, ghost~ ]

He responded with a playful tone of voice, and advanced searching for a library, leaving a shocked Chara behind.

- ...What...

End.

As far-fetched as Kumagawa's line of thought may be, there’s a whole reason behind it. As I said before, Kumagawa will NEVER depend on plot convenience or anything like that.

(The editor thought it seemed too forced, but she received the full explanation and ended up getting spoilers, I got happy with it. Sorry editor.)

As the story has a slow pace, Snowdin will be divided into parts as well. This time it will have much more content than the Ruins, since Snowdin has a lot to explore.

I won’t say the exact amount of parts to keep some people from getting discouraged, but believe me; the future chapters will be anything but boring.

This first part was kind of 'weak' because it was the presentation, and I believe that everyone realized that I don’t know how to introduce characters or even new locations. I’m trying to get better.

I hope you enjoyed it, and thank you for the 20k Views.

( To compensate for the lack of chapter in these two days, I will try to update daily instead of an inconsistent schedule. )
