111 Side Story - Iori's Misfortune

Side Story – Iori's Misfortune

"Handsome face... Check."

"Fit body...Check"

"And my glorious bald head...Check"

I, Kitahara Iori once again grinned as I looked at the glorious self that reflected in the mirror in front of me. As expected of the little brother of a super handsome model. We definitely look alike.

"Iori! Stop looking at yourself in the mirror and go to school right now! Don't you feel embarrassed doing that every day? And let me tell you. You look like your father than Izu-kyun." A woman shouted from outside my room. It was my mother.

"..."

My mother must be joking, I am certain I look like my brother. I mean, look at this glorious self. My father certainly just looks normal while my mother was beautiful when she was young. No way I didn't get any of my mother's genes.

"Stop joking, Mom! And alright I will go after a while!" I answered with a loud voice, so she can hear me and back to looking at the mirror.

"Right now, you bald! Did you forget you have morning practice?" My mother angrily said.

"What's wrong with being bald?! It's popular you know?!" I retorted.

"Yes, yes. Now, I will wait for you in the kitchen in 5 minutes. If you don't, I will be sure to burn the magazines you hide under the cover of textbooks, Mister Baldy." My mom threateningly said.

"How did you know about that?! Fine, I will be there in a min!" I shouted in panic. How the hell she knew about that. I need to hide it more cleverly. And then, I took my bag and went to the kitchen before my mom burns my precious magazines.

"Itadakimasu!" I assumed a praying gesture and said before eating breakfast that my mom made. Looks like dad still preparing himself in their room. Well, it can't be helped since I need to go to school very early for my morning practice.

The food that our family eats is made by my mother. Of course, we can just have the Ryokan chef to make it, but my mother likes to cook it herself. Incidentally, before Shiori went to follow my Aniki, she also had cooked for us sometimes.

"Oh right before you going, here is your lunch." My mother gave me a lunchbox and said.

"Ou, I'm off mom!" I said after putting the lunchbox in my bag.

"Have a good day, Mister baldy." My mother jokingly said. Yare yare, she didn't understand the awesomeness of this hairstyle. Anyway, I shake my head and immediately went to the school.

---

The sounds of a tennis ball hitting the racket reverberating in the tennis field. Although there are no girls watching our morning practice, I am sure there are some that hiding while watching me. Of course, they will love this talented tennis player with an awesome bald haircut.

"Hageta, have you got some love letters since enrolling at this high school?" I asked one of my baldy comrades who told us that bald people will be popular after the morning practice finished.

"I haven't got one. But I am certain there will be some letters on my locker not for long." Hageta grinned and said.

"I know, right? I haven't got one too. The girls here sure are shy." I grinned back and said.

"Oi Kitahara, there are girls looking for you." Suddenly our coach came and said as he pointed at a group of girls outside the tennis field.

"Can you see that, Hageta? even though I just said it. Being popular sure is hard." I chuckled and confidently said.

"Fuck off. But please let me follow you just in case." Hageta angrily said and added.

"Very well, Hageta-kun. You can look at my awesomeness." I cooly said and went to the group of girls with Hageta following behind me.

"K-Kitahara-san, right?" The most beautiful girl in the group walks in front of me with her cheek reddened.

"Yes, it's me. Is there anything I can help you with?" I said while giving my most charming smile causing Hageta raised his eyebrow and look irritated. I glanced at him and smirked and made him more irritated.

'I pity you who can only look at me enviously, Hageta-kun.'

"Y-yes...Anoo..." The girl fidgeted and said.

'IS IT FINALLY COME? MY POPULAR PHASE?'

"P-please give me an autograph of Kitahara Izumi-sama, Kitahara-san!" The girl bowed her head and said.

"..."

"..."

Hearing that, my comrade Hageta stood and tapped my shoulder while looking at me with a smirk on his face while he walks passed the girls and me. God, I want to punch him.

In the end, I casually told her I would try to ask my brother and she joyfully said I am very kind and want to be my friend. Honestly, that made me more annoyed.

After that, I went to the changing room and wear my uniform back after cleaning my body in the shower room. Then, I promptly went to the main school building to found Hageta-kun leaned his back at his locker while his face looks like someone who just won something.

"What's up, Hageta?" I asked.

"Heh, you finally come. Look what I got in my locker." Hageta closed his eyes and grinningly said as he showed me a cute letter. Yes, it is a love letter.

"..." I widened my eyes with my mouth opened widely without being able to react. Then, Hageta once again tapped my shoulder and looked at me with pity.

"I will graciously allow you to read this with me. I pity you who never got one before so at least you will know what kind of thing written in it." Hageta said with his mouth curved.

"...Go read it..." Although I want to punch his smug face, I am curious about what kind of things are written in it so I hold myself back.

"*Ehem* To Hageta-kun. Although I (Boku) embarrassed to write this letter, I (Boku) can't hold my feelings anymore. Every time I (Boku) see your radiant smile while talking with your friend, my heart beating so fast and at that time I (Boku) know that I fall in love with you.

That's why I (Boku) decided to write this letter to convey my feelings to you. If you could, please come to the rooftop after school because I (Boku) want to do my confession directly. From your dear fan." Hageta's face gradually loses its color while reading the letter.

Then, as a best friend, I can only do one thing for him.

"Heh, thanks for the treat. Be happy with him, okay?" I tapped his shoulder and said with an amused smirk. Then, I went to the class leaving the pale-faced Hageta. Ah, the feeling of successful revenge is the best.

---

In the evening after another practice at the school, I called my brother to ask something.

"Hello Aniki" I called my brother's phone and said.

"Ah, Izumi-kun is currently playing a game, who is this?" The one who answers is a girl that I don't know. Looks like my brother got another girlfriend. How envious...

"Sorry, could you pass the phone to him? I am his brother, Iori." I politely said.

"Please wait a minute." The girl said.

"Izumi-kun, Otouto-kun is calling." The girl said to my brother. What the heck is that nickname...I like it.

"Thanks, Chika-chan. Yo Iori, what's up?"

"Yo, Aniki. Actually I want to ask something to you." I thoughtfully said.

"What is it? You sound serious." Aniki answered.

"Yes, it is serious... Being bald will make me popular right?" I asked.

"...What, does mom didn't tell you?" Aniki laughingly said.

"I wouldn't say that being bald is unpopular. But they are popular... among boys. I am sure you have many friends because of that. Certainly, there will be a girl who likes bald-headed boys, but it's very rare. Especially in Japan.

The phrase 'Bald is popular among ladies' is true, but in our parent's era where most of the boys need to be bald. You can ask mom with that.

You know this from your friend, right? I assume his father told him about this too. More importantly, I am actually surprised you just asked me now after all this time." Aniki laughingly said.

"...Why didn't you tell me about it, Aniki?" I listlessly said.

"Because it's amu- No, I mean, I thought you cut all of your hair to concentrate at tennis.

'... you know I hear that, right Aniki...'

"Anyway, I am busy right now, see you Iori!" And then, he hung up after saying that. Because I'm still unconvinced, I went to look for my mom to ask her.

"Mom, being bald is popular among ladies right?" I asked in a low spirit.

"Of course it is... in my era. What's wrong?" My mom grinned and said.

"Why didn't you tell me...?" I asked again in a low spirit.

"Because it's amu- No, I mean, I thought you cut all of your hair to concentrate at tennis." My mom laughingly said.

'That's an exact same answer as Aniki. Fuck, it's in our gene...'

After that, I went back to my room and called Hageta-kun who told my buddies including us this information.

"Hageta, where did you hear that being bald is popular among ladies?" I asked.

"Nn? Of course from my father... What's up?" Hageta answered. Hearing that, I took a deep breath to calm my mind.

"Well, Hageta...." I calmly said.

"What?" Hageta wonderingly said.

"TELL YOUR FATHER, FUCK YOU!"

---

*Bonus

After hearing the reason why Iori was mad at his father, Hageta who equally mad at him waited at the entrance of their home for their father to come home. And then when his father arrived and found his son waiting for him to come home. Of course, as a father, he was very happy with that until...

"FUCK YOU, FATHER!"

Because of this, Hageta got punished by his father by adhering to a six dot sticker on his forehead for one week or he won't get any lunch money. Of course, Hageta chooses the six dot stickers. Which caused a rumor to spread in the town that there is Krillin in his highschool.

Nevertheless, he never regrets cursing his father.
