“Hunter?” The surprise and confusion on Michaela’s face when she opened the door that evening raised a hell of a lot of alarm bells. “What are you doing here?”

“Your parents invited me for your family’s games and movie night, did they not tell you?” I questioned her. This arrangement we had going on was getting more and more difficult to maintain especially with her parents becoming more involved.

“No. They probably wanted to surprise me.” That explained it.

“Mission accomplished then. We definitely need to end this though. Your parents are going to find out one way or the other and it’s better if it comes from you.”

“I know.”

“Tomorrow then. For tonight we’ll just have to smile and continue pretending. Tonight you need to sneak away and give Vincent a call to explain what’s happening.” I instructed her.

“Okay.” Michaela then took a deep breath so that she could compose herself again. “You don’t have to bring something every time you come visit us you know.”
