“Do you even work anymore?” I asked my cousin. We stepped into my house carrying a few parcels and Austin in his car seat. The little boy was wide awake and just staring at the world around him.

“I do work. Ruben takes care of the day-to-day running of the business and I do all the financials. I don’t have to be at the office everyday to work which is great because then I get to spend time with my little guy.” Soft humming came from upstairs so Michaela must’ve still been there. We placed the parcels on the kitchen table and began sorting through them to get to our breakfast.

“That little guy doesn’t seem like he is any trouble so it’s not like you have your hands full.”

“He’s not used to this place so that’s why he’s so passive. When he is at home then he crawls everywhere. I have to tie him in the car seat just so that I can work sometimes.” Our laughter immediately made the atmosphere more pleasurable.
