1 Chapter One

Almost 4 YEARS AGO *Nobody's POV*

Jade and Lucas are walking in the park downtown. Jade's hair is in two ponytails that stop at her shoulders with bows at the top. She has thick rimmed glasses that she pushes up every 2 minutes. She is wearing overalls with a rainbow striped shirt underneath and rainbow colored shoes. She was shorter than most girls her age, and Lucas was a bit taller. Her body is a bit curvy for her age, but Lucas could care less. He was her bestfriend because of who she was. Lucas has hair that stops a bit past his shoulders, his mom didn't want him to cut it yet. He also wears glasses but his are thin. His pants are a bit too big for his small size and his shirt is too long. Yes, they are nerds. The biggest nerds. They read and study together all the time, even when it's not necessary. But Jade has some news to break to Lucas and is very emotional at the moment.

As she thought on it she stopped walking and so did Lucas. She went and sat on a bench, patting it so that he would sit next to her.

Jade: Lucas .. my parents and I are moving to California.

Lucas looked at Jade with wide eyes. His face was full of confusion and hurt.

Lucas: What ? Why ? When ??

Jade: My parents think it's time for a "scenic change" as they called it. They said we're moving to New York. I really don't want to go, but I have to. We're moving in 3 days. They already bought a house and everything. I'm sorry Luke. I know you're about to start high school and I won't be here, but it'll be okay I promise.

Lucas: Will you be back ?

Jade lowered her head and looked at the grass beneath their feet.

Jade: I don't think so... at least not soon.

Lucas: I would get mad about it, but that won't change a thing. I'm going to miss you Jade. We have to make the most out of these 3 days.

Jade looked up with excitement in her eyes. She got up and grabbed his hand as they left the park and went back home, since it was getting near to their curfew time.

The next 3 days were full of ice cream runs, riding bikes, having dinner with each other at home, and playing games together. But all of that had to come to an end as it was the day for Jade and her parents to move away.

Jade's parents were putting the last of their suitcases in the car while Jade was saying her goodbyes to Lucas. 

Lucas: I'm going to miss you butterfly. Pinky Promise to take care of yourself.

Jade grabbed his pinky with hers and promised.

Jade: I promise. Promise to make some friends. Do well in school and don't forget about me.

Lucas: I could never forget about my butterfly.

Jade's mom (Josie) walked up and told Jade it was time to go.

Josie: Hi Lucas. I'm sorry, but we have to go now. Nice seeing you before we leave.

And Josie walked back to the car waiting on Jade to follow.

Jade hugged Lucas one last time, and walked to her car, meeting her parents. As the car drove away, Jade looked through the window and saw Lucas and waved Goodbye. He waved at her as the car started going farther and farther down the road. To Lucas, that would possibly be the last time that he would see Jade. But Jade knew that she had to come back. She was determined to get her bestfriend back one day.

NOW    *Jade's POV*

"JADE COME HERE" my mom yelled. I looked over myself in the mirror and started walking downstairs. I walked into the living room where my mom was sitting and saw she was holding a letter.

"YOU GOT ACCEPTED!!" she yelled

I widened my eyes and took the letter from her hands. I read over it and as soon as I saw "Congratulations you've been accepted into New York University" I screamed and jumped.

"AHHHHH OMG OMG AHHHH" I screamed

"Okay calm down okay .. we have to get stuff for your dorm . We have to get you some new clothes!! SHOPPING!!" My mom said

I nodded my head still smiling just as hard, on the verge of tears. My mom is literally like my bestfriend, aside from Tia. She's a doctor and my father is a lawyer. They both get paid VERY nicely, which is why we live in a big two story house in a gated community. Tia has been my bestfriend since I first moved here. She got her acceptance letter last week, which is why I thought I didn't get accepted.

Mom: "School starts in two months, so we have to start shopping and preparing your dorm soon. You can leave here early to get use to living there again."

"Mom, I'm going to be so nervous !! OMG, let's start shopping now" I said

Mom: "Okay let me go get dressed."

I said okay and ran back upstairs to call Tia. After explaining and screaming and planning, she agreed to go shopping with my mom and I. I ended the call and got dressed in a casual outfit.

10 minutes later, Tia pulled up to my house. We held a conversation and 20 minutes later we all got into the car to go to the mall.

We arrived at the Mall and Tia and I instantly went to Victoria's Secret while my mom went to some other stores. We picked multiple underwear and bra sets and fragrances. After leaving there, we went into more clothing stores than I can count. We met my mom at the food court and ate pizzaaaa. Pizza is my favoritest thing in the whole wide worlddd.

After we finished eating, we went back to the house.

My father's home now and I can't wait to tell him that I got accepted!!!!

I grabbed as many bags that I could carry and hurried inside the house. I dropped the bags into my room and ran outside to get the rest. I thought I would have one more time to run back, but I bought more outfits and shoes than I thought and had to go back to the car 2 more times after the first two.

I saw my father in the kitchen and greeted him.

Me: "Hey papa!! GUESS WHAT"

Papa: Let me guess, you got accepted into NYU ?

Me: MAMA HOW COULD YOU TELL HIM BEFORE ME ?!

Mama came into the kitchen laughing.

Mama: I'm sorryyy I was just so excited for you!!

I shook my head and told papa my plans. After the talk, we had dinner. Yes, I ate again because the lunch didn't fill me up and I eat a lot, OKAY SUE ME. After dinner, I went upstairs to shower and got into bed. Tomorrow, Tia, my mom, and I will go to New York to get me and Tia's dorm room situated. I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
