23 Chapter Twenty-Three

Her phone rang, disrupting the conversation.

Tessa took a sneak at her phone. She had on a smug look on her face. “Speak of the sexy devil.”

Kim rolled her eyes. “You’re hopeless.”

She placed her index finger on her lip, signalling Tessa to shut up as she picked up the call.

“Hello.”

“You’re not home”, he said straight to the point.

She gave Tessa a surprised look, making Tessa mouth the word ‘what?’ "need me for anything?”

“Just wanted to see you.” he replied

“Oh,” she said relieved. “I’m out right now though.”

“With who?” He asked anger laced in his voice. “You know what? Don’t answer that. It’s not necessary.”

Kim smothered her laughter. He was clearly jealous. “I can come right now if you need me.”

“I do need you,” he muttered.

But she heard him. “Give me a couple of minutes and I’ll be there.” She hung up the call.

“You’re leaving”.

“I’m sorry Tess. Can we do this some other time?” “Because of a guy?”
