5 An old friend

The rain had stopped and the clouds had started to clear.Sunlight began to creep out.The dried leaves and flowers had withered and the garden looked fresh and all the plants had dripping droplets of water and there were puddles of water here and there.The breeze was chill and pleasant.She wrapped herself in a shawl and went to the balcony.

That was when she saw two students,playing in the rain water,jumping from puddle to puddle splashing water on each other and shaking the branches of trees.They were really having fun.It was only after they both were dripping wet with water did they finally stop and ran to the old bus stop,still laughing.From the uniforms they were wearing she could tell that they were attending the same school that she once did.

Just then, Stacy came in."I have brought you some hot ginger tea.The climate is really cold so drink something hot so you that you wont catch a cold." saying so she placed the tea pot and 2 tea cups on the table near the balcony door "Madam Merissa has come to meet you.Shall i ask her to come upstairs?"But she didnt receive a reply.So she went down to inform Merissa.

Merissa and Sandriya were childhood besties.They were neighbors when they were little and they attended the same kindergarden.When it was time for them to do schooling, Sandriyas' parents couldnt afford to send her to the same school as Merissa as it was very expensive.So Sandriya attended the local School whereas Merissa attended the school for rich kids.But that never came in between their friendship.They were not like friends but more like sisters,practically inseparable.But when they went to college their paths seperated as Merissa went abroad for studies and after that when Sandriya saw her it was only on Merissas' wedding 2 years back .And at that moment she was already handling her own company and was a busy business woman.

"So... was she excited to meet me?"Merissa asked Stacy who had just come down from Sandriya's room.

"I dont know Mam.I dont think she was paying attention to what i said" Stacy replied awkwardly

" Is that so.Then I shall handle that little devil myself" saying so she hurried upstairs.

She went to her room, opened the door and swept her eyes across the room and noticed her standing on the balcony.Sandriya was all lost in thought.Merissa traced her line of sight and her gaze fell on the high school boy and girl standing at the bus stop.

She giggled and that was when Sandriya realised that someone was in her room"My,my...who would have thought after all these years that have passed and he still has not left your mind"
