2 Preparation

Kalel saw his stats, being a normal millennial, he imagines that a normal stat for an average man must be around 1. He got way better physical stat than the average joe, it made him happy to see that his hard work had weirdly paid of.

He decided to first explore his building to get more useful things and to have a better comprehension of his surroundings.

He watched all 12 seasons of the Walking Dead, so he put on a leather suit, a thick pant, heavy boots, some gloves to which he added his American punch. Afterwards, he put some food, water, a flashlight and candles on his red backpack. He thought he needed a bigger backpack to salvage things bitterly. After checking himself once again, he felt ready, he was going to check each 20 flats of his building to see how many survivors were alive and take as much things he could in the process because he knew he couldn't leave the security of the walls yet, he didn't have any information. The news were playing a loop of yesterday's news.

He always thought when reading survival novel that the normal guys who didn't move at the beginning were stupid, you needed to get as much things as possible to hope to survive if your luck wasn't good. Its was now almost 8 am, time to begin the first salvaging of his life, but not the last he was hoping for.

His building was at the end of the street, hidden by trees, you needed to pass 2 gates to get inside the building. The homeless man was behind the second one, he was now very far away, so there was no one who posed a threat directly outside, but Kalel was sure that there were others like him and even worst thing roaming in his gloomy morning.

His building had 20 flats, mostly inhabited by working class family, it didn't have an elevator but 2 stairs on opposite side of the building. There were 5 flats by level.

He decided to first check the one next to his. He didn't know most of his neighbors, he has never been a very social person, but he thought only an overweight single guy was leaving there. Before leaving his home, he listened to the gate and heard nothing and checked by the eyelet for 3 minutes to be sure there were no immediate danger. He was very cautious, what made him afraid was he didn't know what exact dangers were roaming his world.

He opened slowly his door and went outside. The lights went on when they detected his movement. He approached his neighbor door, and listened, he heard nothing. Then he knocked first lightly then more fiercely when he got no response. After a few moments he stopped and listened to see if someone was reacting.

It suddenly hit him, why would someone open a door in that situation ? They must be afraid like him if they had the same experience this morning and saw the not very discreet homeless man outside. He needed to give them the desire to answer him.

"Hi guys, I'm your neighbor, my name is Kalel, I'm here to check if you're safe and what we should do to face our dire situation. "he began to shout.

No Answer. The silence was deafening.

"Okay, I'm going to open the door sir to see if you're safe or need any help" Kalel said loudly.

'I hope he got some useful things, I am low on rations.' Was his thought.

Time to begin, he loose almost 15 minutes to talk to no one, just to be sure not to end in prison in case all this shit was a gigantic prank or a dream. He took his crowbar and put against the door, it was an old building, he put some strength and the door gave away pretty easily. That guy should had strengthened its door after he moved like he did, but French are pretty careless, the blood crimes are pretty rare in this country compared to America or Africa.

He didn't go in immediately, he took his bat on his right hand and a flashlight on the other. He went inside cautiously. It was pretty dark, the curtains were pulled. He saw no one in the living room. He decided to go check the bedroom and the W.C next.

The guy wasn't here. He felt relieved. The guy had some groceries left, he only took the cans, water, milk and salt. He knew that they were the basics he needed.

He went back with the supplies to his home and decided to take a break, he felt tired even he did nothing much. It wasn't normal. He checked his status. The screen appeared.
