However, spirit techniques have its own characteristics so not all magic techniques are compatible with it. The simple explanation is if your spirit is the fire element, you can learn a more advance fire magic but will be restricted to learn further water or ice magic. Of course, the basic spell of Qi Absorption can still be learned, only the advance one is restricted.

Although it is possible to learn various spirit techniques, in the end a Soul Core can only be shaped with one. So other spirit techniques are not as effective. Especially if it is not aligning with the main spirit that made the core.

It is only a simple explanation given to Lu Yan, as real application will be more complicated than that. It just that Lu Yan still have no way to understand any of that yet. Beyond that is even further away from him.
