7 Bleakness

A sharp sound vibrated in the air. Valine snapped her head in the direction of the sound. It came from a very dark corner of the garage.

She looked at her surrounding, no one was there in the whole parking area, she was all alone. Slowly, with all her guards up high, she stepped towards the source of the sound.

She tried to find her gun which she always carries but damn her luck! She forgot to carry it when she left the house. It was lying on the couch when she needed it the most at this time.

She neared to the place but before she could clarify the situation another movement caught her off guard. All of a sudden, a bunch of steel rods kept there started falling over and she was just standing in front of it. She wasn't able to react or move, she instinctively closed her eyes awaiting those rods to hit over her but a force pulled her away. Someone pulled from her hand just before the rod was about to fall on her. Feeling no pain, she opened her eyes and her face paled when she looked back to fallen rods on the ground. If it wasn't for the person who saved her, she might be lying here, unconscious under these rods.

Because of all this sudden occurrence she stood frozen on her. Feeling a hand on her shoulders, pulled her back to senses, startling her again.

"Miss, are you alright?"

Hearing the voice beside her, she got her attention to the person who just saved her.

A man clad in all black, carrying a bag on his back looked concerned towards her, asking her again...

"Miss, are you fine, did you got hurt somewhere?"

"No, I am fine. Thanks"

Valine said to the person but her gaze followed her wrist, the man was still holding her wrist but receiving the stare from Valine he swiftly let it go.

He felt the sudden wave of the coldness so he released her wrist and took two steps back, furthering the distance between them.

This made Valine realize what she did just now, she lost her calm and nearly slipped into the bleakness. It was not his mistake.

She took a deep breath and steadied herself.

It has always been like this, a certain deja vu kicks within her when someone strange tries to cross her breathing space. It's always been like a cold shadow overcasting her body. She doesn't know when this will change.

She faced that person and back with her calmed face she said, "Thank you for saving me just now"

"Oh, not a problem miss"

Now this time Valine closely inspected the person...

If she remembered, she had never seen him here before. The man was holding a delivery box, probably a delivery man but how come he got here. No stranger is allowed in this building. This building's security is higher than the other buildings. This roused her suspicion. Although this person here saved her life just now she still can't let her guards down.

"Who are you and how did you get here?"

"Ah!?... I am here to deliver this box to Mr.Shaung."

Mr.Shaung?...she heard this name before, may be a businessman. He was one of the few respectable people in the business industry but he doesn't live in this building..."Didn't the security at the entrance tell you about your delivery location?"

"They told me but I lost my way, Miss. I got confused between building-6 and building-9"

Valine frowned even more after listening to his reasoning.

'This building was off-limits for any delivery man. All delivery of this building was personally handled by the security Manager.' Nothing like this happened before.

Even she is aware of Mr Shaung identity and knows that someone would be foolish enough to use his name for the advantage but still she couldn't let this incident slip that easily.

She briefed the man and told him to wait while she dialled the number of a security manager.

Within ten minutes security manager came running, huffing after knowing it was Madam Valine who asked for his presence.

When he got there, first his attention went to the same unknown person. '

Why the heck some stranger is he here!?'

"Miss. Valine, are you looking for me?"

"Yes, this delivery man lost his way. Show him the direction of building-6, Mr.Shaung's apartment."

And then I want a detailed explanation of this incident and you better know what I'm talking about.

She will check this incident thoroughly fir sure. After giving this piece of instruction, Valine got into her car. She knew she was already late for her plan.

'Sigh...can't things ever work straight for her.'

One last time she checked the man, although he is suspicious, she needed to leave. Something else needed her attention more at this moment.

Throwing these thoughts out of her head, she speeds off.
