5 A surprise

When Melly entered, she got a welcome flying slipper straight on her head. With her eyes wide open, mouth falls agape as if she had seen a ghost she sprinted behind Valine to seek protection.

"Wasn't her mother at home??"

She accusingly looked at uncle jing, 'he lied to her.'

"Well Miss, you only asked me if madam is in her room but not if she was at the home."

'You tricked me uncle jing.'

"Ahhh!! Valine, you are my last hope, just help me this once", she whispered this to Valine so her mother won't hear.

And here mother Hansen fuming in anger...

"You brat, where ever you go only make trouble. I should better lock you up in your room again or tie your legs to prevent you from going outside."

"But even if l will tie your legs you will still not stay input. Come here; today, l will teach you a good lesson."

Saying this madam, Hansen strode in the direction of Melly with a stick in her hand.

You troublesome brat, always playing around and bringing trouble.

"Ouch! Ouch!! Mother not on the butt, Aaye!! it's hurting."

Melly was jumping around, sometimes making butler her shield or hiding behind Valine.

But her mother was not in a mood today to take a beating break between.

She ran towards a pillar and climbed on it, half hanging in the air.

God help me this time, and she promises to stop stealing ice-cream at night.

"Mother listen to me first. I was not making any trouble. I was purely helping a poor girl.

She got robbed, and we were only helping her to get her purse back. If you don't believe me ask Valine. She is my eye witness!!!"

"Don't pull Valine in your lies; otherwise, l will beat you more."

"B...but, mother, I'm stating the truth. Valine was also there with me in the car."

'She was also one who showed her SKILLS', but she swallowed the last sentence.

With this, she hinted Valine to help her.

Although Valine was enjoying this view, she has to help Melly to get her hands on snacks.

Valine went to madam Hansen...

"Mother calms down, don't stress your body for that dummy."

'DUMMY, Melly flare-up, how she calls her dummy.'

"And Melly was right, l was there. That girl was young and crying for help. But no one came forward to help her so how we can turn a blind eye to this. Wouldn't that against your teaching to us, we can't leave her alone there."

"Hmm...still the chaos created can't be neglected, making whole city upside down."

"Do you even know the commissioner call me to complain about this?"

'This commissioner, seems like need to talk to him'...thought Melly.

"Mother, he didn't know what the situation was

and about the damages l will handle it.

You tell me if we hadn't chased the thief or should l say waited for every traffic signal, how we supposed to catch him."

Mother Hansen fell in her thoughts for seconds and replied.

"Okay, this time l will spare this girl but no next time and you should also stop taking her side.

She will become more spoiled."

"Don't worry mother, l will monitor her action personally and would punish her if she didn't listen."

"But you don't stress yourself for trash things next time; you will only worry me."

"Who did you called TRASH!!!"

"Other than you who else can be."

Hearing the genuine concern in her voice, Mrs Hansen heart filled with sweet.

Valine makes her sat on the sofa and ask someone to bring water.

Melly also got down after checking the atmosphere but stayed on a safe hand distance. What if her mother changes her mind. She can't take the bait.

Giving her a glass of water to drink...

"Mother l need to return to my flat."

"Why, you just came and already want to leave??"

Mrs.Hansen fell after listening to Valine.

She holds her hand, "mother don't be sad, I'm not going permanently, it just matters of time. I have some work to attend.

"Yeah, she needs to attend a very very important work which is my brother, right?? Melly butted in. She got a glare in return.

Melly touched her nose...' did she said something wrong.'

Mrs Hansen eyes gleamed...'Are you going on a date with my son?'

"Yes, mother, do you forgot today is their 4th anniversary. It's been complete four years they are together."

"Valine planned a surprise for him, a memorable night. She is going to..."

But before she can complete her reports. Valine shoots her a cold glare.

Her whole face was beet red. She can't raise her eyes now. She got embarrassed. What her mother-in-law must be thinking. She wants to sew the mouth of this friend of her. But next, she hears a chuckle...

Mrs Hansen was happy. Finally, her son got settled with such a lovely girl. Now she can close her eyes in peace.

She patted head of Valine.Only said...

"We will be waiting for you. Come to this home permanently as soon as you can."

I will also be waiting to play with my grandchildren."

"My nephew or niece, give me one soon."

Melly didn't miss the chance to tease her further; it's rare to tease her friend.

Valine shot her an angry, embarrassed look. She won't know what to say. Her face was looking like a glowing hot red pot bottom.

Okay okay, it's enough. We can plan on this later; you will be getting late dear.

"Okay, mother l will take my leave first".

Thank goodness for her mother in law; otherwise, she don't know what to reply.
