32 Chapter 31

I am here at our mini Treehouse. I've never been here these past few days. Sana dumating 'yong araw na makapag bonding kami ulit dito. These days, I am still giving them time together, they need it, to get too closer and for their relationship to become stronger.

I was about to close my eyes and have a sleep for an hour, but someone called me while she's still catching her breath, "Sky, Come down!" Hillary shouted.

Agad ko naman siyang sinunod. She stares at me for a second and her eyes look so damn worried! "Anong nangyayari?" I asked, somehow getting confused.

"S-si Sun," iyon pa lang kinabahan na 'ko ng sobra, sh*t, "he's in the hospital."

"Ano? Anong ginagawa niya ron?" damn this! I am so nervous to death! Hindi ko pa alam ang rason, pero sh*t talaga, kinakabahan ako.

"T-tara na, Sky," she then grabbed me through the parking lot at andoon na si Manong Luke? Ano ba talagang nangyayari? Pumupunta lang siya ng school kapag uwian na kaya ba't siya andito eh ang aga-aga pa?

"Hillary, what's happening?" I asked her again.

She took a deep breath and said, "tumawag sa'kin si Veia saying Sun passed out. Naglakad-lakad lang sila tapos bigla na lang nagkagano'n. Sobrang nataranta siya kaya dinala niya agad si Sun sa hospital. He used Sun's phone para tawagan ang driver niyo at ipasundo ka para makapunta ka agad sa hospital. Tinawagan niya na rin 'yong parents niyo," she explained, and sh*t, hindi ko na alam kung ano 'yong dapat kong maramdaman! "Sky, wala namang sakit si Sun, 'di ba?" she asked, so worried, and I shook my head immediately.

Sa pagkakaalam ko naman ay ako ang may sakit sa'ming dalawa. I was born with a heart failure. Si Sun, wala! Kaya bakit bigla na lang siyang nawalan ng malay?

"Hello, papunta na kami, Veia... H-Hindi pa rin? God... Sige, please stay strong," she then put down her phone and looked at me, "Sky, Sun will be alright, okay?"

I wiped my tears and said, "I know."

When we came in the hospital, si Hillary na 'yong nagtanong sa nurse station, she forgot to ask Veia kung sa'n dinala si Sun, kinakabahan na rin siguro siya. And then, we headed through the...ICU? Buong akala ko sa emergency lang siya dinala, bakit papunta kaming ICU?!

"Sky!" My Mom is crying when she approached me. I saw Veia holding my Dad's arm, she's in tears, too. Sh*t!

"Mom, what's happening?" I asked.

"Si Sun kasi...b-bakit kinakailangang dalhin sa ICU?" and she burst in tears again, "tell me he's not in a serious condition, right?" I nodded. I am not crying this time, I need to hold it. I need to be strong for my Mom.

Minutes have passed, Mom and Veia are still crying. Hillary has been on Veia's side, helping her. And, my Mom is still hugging me. Hindi ko na rin pinasin pang basa na 'yong damit ko dahil sa pag-iyak ni Mommy. Si Daddy naman kanina pa pabalik-balik sa paglalakad. At ako, I've been praying na sana okay lang si Sun, sana.

The Doctor came out after almost an hour. "Are you the patient's relatives?" he asked.

Dad nodded, "I'm his father, how is he?" he asked, too.

"I'll be telling you straight, the patient is in a critical condition-"

"What?!" I interfered. Mas lalo ko na ring naririnig ang hagulgol nina Mommy at Veia. Ahh, God, what is going on?

"I'm sorry, but you heard me right. The patient has a more-serious Traumatic Brain Injury."

"Ano ho 'yon, Doc?" Dad asked.

"It is usually caused by a blow or other traumatic injury to the head or body," he replied. "Can I ask if the patient had a vehicle-related collision, sports injury, or he had fallen from a ladder or down stairs o kahit saang mataas na lugar?"

Nagkatinginan ang lahat at walang sumagot. Hindi naman kasi 'yon nangyari kay Sun, eh.

"Alright," the Doctor uttered again. "But, I had done checking the patient's record here in the hospital and he's been meeting one of our Neurologists. Mamaya tatawagin ko siya so that we can consult him regarding the Patient. But for now, all you need to do is to be strong and keep on praying."

"Pero, Doc, gagaling pa naman 'yong anak ko, 'di ba?" Mom asked between her sobs.

"We're gonna do our best, Ma'am. I need to go back inside kailangan pa namin siyang i-examine," he then went back inside the ICU room.

"SKY!" I heard Hillary shouted when I fell down. My knees were damn trembling and I am shaking to death. Hindi ko alam kung ano 'yong gagawin ko. Hindi ako mapapanatag hangga't 'di siya nagigising.

"Sky, anak, be strong, okay?" Dad reminded, but I did not even speak. Nawawalan ako ng lakas gumalaw at magsalita.

"T-Tita, ba't may gano'ng sakit si Sun?" Veia asked in tears.

"H-Hindi ko alam," Mom replied and cried in Dad's arm again.

"Nine years ago," I managed myself to speak. I guess this is the reason why he has this damn serious injury, "we're in our third-grade and there's an event in school," everyone is listening and no one dares to interfere, "papunta kaming auditorium may hagdanan pababa papunta sa pinakaunang upuan, and that's our assigned chair. Pababa na kami, pero nagulat ako nang biglang gumulong si Sun at bumagsak siya sa pinakaibabang parte ng auditorium... The event was stopped for the meantime at halos lahat nagulat sa nangyari... Sun was sent in the hospital because he passed out, buti na lang talaga at naagapan siya agad..."

"B-Bakit siya nahulog?" Hillary asked.

"When he woke up, I asked him immediately why he fell down from the stairs... Sabi niya he was amazed of the pianist, especially sa piano kasi ang sarap daw ng musika na ibinibigay nito," I looked at Hillary and she's also looking at me with knitted brows. Kaya ko sinabi na 'yong nakita ni Hillary na viral video ni Sun playing the piano was the first and unfortunately, the last kasi natotrauma siya when he's seeing a piano. "Sun's really into music, no wonder," I continued. "Pero, nalungkot ako nang sabihin niya na hindi na siya muling ma-iinggit sa piano. He's traumatized. Natatakot daw siyang baka sa susunod ibang aksidente na naman ang mangyari... After two days, Sun was discharged, but the Doctor said he still needs to have some follow up check-ups kasi mataas 'yong hinulugan niya, but he doesn't have any wound baka raw magkaroon ng internal hemorrhage kaya lang we have nothing at that time kaya twice lang nakapagpacheck-up si Sun," Mom looked down, mukhang naalala na rin niya ang pangyayaring 'yon, "akala ko wala talaga 'yong impact kasi buhay pa rin si Sun at wala naman akong nakikitang kakaiba sa kaniya...but unlike these days, he's gotten very forgetful...kaya pala," I looked above trying to pull back my tears, but they're damn traitors, sabay-sabay silang nagsibagsakan.

'Hindi ko kakayanin kapag nawala ang kakambal ko. Hinding-hindi.' I said behind my back.
