1 Prologue: An Imperfect Reset

Inside a large manor, the servants were bustling and rushing around busy handling some things while the other servants that aren't busy helping out are standing near a large door, all wearing faces of excitement and worry. How could they not be excited when their duchess is finally giving birth!

"It's been 3 hours already! Do you think maybe something has gone wrong?" A young male servant asks in a worried tone.

"Shush you! Don't bring any bad luck by saying such things or else your entire family's heads will be rolling if the duke hears you!" An old female servant that looks to be in her 50s quickly reprimands the young servant for his insensitive and irresponsible words. "Although Duke Arbor is kind and benevolent to the people of his land, He is merciless to his enemies or to anyone that dares to insult his family. There is no need to worry for the duchess, childbirth usually lasts longer than 3 hours. The baby is most likely still just a forehead peaking through the duchess's vag--"

The young servant quickly cuts the lady servant in the middle of her talking to stop her from finishing that last sentence. "OK! I get it, childbirth isn't easy, no need to describe the entire process to me. I would like to remember this day as the day a new member of the Velmont family was born, not the day I learn an in-depth lesson on how childbirth works."

As the servants continued to talk to each other, sharing their guesses of what the child's gender will be or what kind of name it will have, the door that leads to where the duchess and the doctor are, suddenly has its doorknob turned. Although the doorknob turning didn't make as much noise, and despite the servant's loud chattering. They all were able to hear it and go silent when they did.

Slowly the door opened, and all the servants held their breaths hoping for good news. "Did it go well?" "Did something happen?" those are the kinds of thoughts they had.

The door was opened halfway and with it, the sound of a baby crying could be heard. The servants were glad to hear that as it was enough proof that the child was birthed safely, but they still wanted to hear the news from the person opening the door.

And from the door came out the duke family's trusted head maid. "The Gods have blessed the Velmont family with twins!" With that news, the worried crowd of servants let out a silent cheer of relief and joy. Though they wanted to scream praises to the gods for this blessing at that moment, they did not want to disturb the duchess's and duke's precious moment. And with the good news told, everyone that was not given orders went back to their sleeping quarters, excited to greet their masters and congratulate them on the good news.

======

In the room where the twins were born, the atmosphere was quite the opposite, sure they were happy at first when the first child came out. But not so much for the 2nd child. The reason? The baby was quiet, too quiet. Not a weep or a cry. When the 2nd one came out, the doctor thought the child passed away during birth until he checked for a pulse. To his surprise, he heard it, a very healthy pulse from a healthy baby. He still was worried about the baby not crying but so long as it was alive it didn't matter. What mattered is that this day would not be remembered as the day the duchess lost one of her children.

20 minutes pass...

"Are you sure there isn't anything wrong with my baby boy doctor?" The Duchess asked, still worried even after 20 minutes have already passed.

"Yes your grace. I have checked everything on your child and all I can see is a healthy baby boy. Though him not crying is odd, it isn't something to worry about. Babies being born without crying is quite rare but it does happen and all those babies grew up to be normal functioning humans." Though she felt relieved from hearing this, she could still not help but worry.

"Aina my love, everything will be alright. I chose Doctor Siev because I have heard of his accomplishments in the field of medicine and surgery. If the professional says he's healthy then we can trust it. And even if your worries were to come true my love, no matter what happens I will not abandon our boy and instead give him all the love I can give, and you already know that I am a walking ocean of love especially when it's in the bed.." The duke reassured his wife Aina while flirting with a seductive grin at the same time.

"Oh stop it you! there are other people here." Duchess Aina blushed profusely that she looked like a glowing tomato in the slightly dark room. The head butler and head maid remained undisturbed by their public display of affection as it is commonplace in their household, but not so much the doctor.

"Ahem!" Doctor Siev interrupted their romantic mood with a loud cough while slightly blushing, It seems despite being over 60 Doctor Siev still isn't comfortable with such displays. "While I understand that both of you are still young and in love, I do not recommend any lovemaking for the next 6 weeks to avoid any sort of implications after birth, understood?"

"Yes Doctor we understand, I was just teasing my darling wife a little bit." Duke Arbor caresses Aina's left cheek. Duchess Aina on the other remained quiet from the embarrassment of showing their romantic side to others.

Not wanting to watch any more of this, Doctor Siev made his way to the door to leave. "Doctor, It is very late right now. Please stay the night in one of the available rooms, think of it as a bonus to your pay." Just like what the old servant said, their master is kind enough to offer Doctor Siev a room when he was already paid in gold.

"Very well then your grace, this old man shall accept your act of kindness. Thank you."

Without waiting to be ordered, the head butler already moved ahead to guide the doctor to his room. "If you would follow me Doctor Siev I will guide you to your room." In response, Doctor Siev just nodded.

as both of them left the room, now only Arbor and Aina and their head maid were left in the room.

"Have you thought of a name for our baby girl yet?" The duke asked while slowly reaching out to his daughter to carry her. Sadly, his hands were gently slapped by Aina. "Don't. Even. Try. Have you taken a look at your hands? Look how sweaty and dirty they are!" Aina complained.

"Ehhh..? But she's still got some blood on her though?"

"Of course she does! I'm not blind! I just don't want you to touch our babies when your hand has dirt on them."

'Aina has never been this aggressive and mad at me before... I guess it is true that women change during childbirth. Though aggressive Aina isn't that bad, actually it seems hot now that I look at her... hehe...' Noticing the lecherous look on her husband's face she calls out to him.

"Stop showing that face of yours! I don't want you to traumatize our children at a young age!"

'Yep... hot AND cute'

Ignoring any more of Arbor's looks, she looks down at the 2 little darlings in her arms with a smile and a tear of joy sliding down her face.

"Going back to your question I have already thought of a name for our daughter, Chelsy. That is gonna be your name, my precious daughter." Looking at the face Aina is showing while looking at her child, anyone would be able to tell that this woman would do absolutely anything for her children and probably even die for them if needed.

"Chelsy... It is a beautiful name, Chelsy Velmont and it slides off the tongue really well." Arbor agreed with his wife's choice of name and has no issues with it. "Since you have named our daughter, would it be fine with you if I were to name our son?" Hearing this question, Aina gave him a confused look.

'Why are you asking for permission to name your own child?' A chuckle escaped from her as she thought of this and decided not to ruin the moment by mentioning it. "Of course, It is only fair that you get to be part of the naming process."

"Alright, head maid Sara, could you please raise my quiet little boy to my face since Aina doesn't want me to touch them at the moment."

"Of course your grace." with a curtsy bow, the head maid wiped her hands of any dirt or sweat and slowly carried the boy and raised him towards his father's face.

"You shall be named John, John Velmont. I will make sure to love you and your sister every step of the way. Even if the gods try to go against us I will protect you no matter what. Live strong and healthy my son. You can lay him down now Sara."

=======

Somewhere in the void moments before Aina went into labor.

John Dweller is confused to find himself still conscious in such a dark place. His voice wouldn't come out no matter how hard he tried to scream, not even a whisper would come out.

"Which God threw you in here? And look at the state your existence is in, you barely even have a full form."

John listened to the voice of what he can only assume is god and after hearing that last sentence, He looked down at his body only to see half of it was gone and what was left of it is see-through and flowing as if it was a piece of transparent cloth in the wind. He then felt that he was missing something else until he noticed his left arm is gone with the same look as his lower body.

"Although your journey here was forced and rough, you still have a detestable aura that can rival minor evil gods. Sigh..... I swear whoever threw you here is gonna pay. Since you're already here I might as well have you recycled, With how much of your existence is gone you cant join the normal cycle of life and death. Gonna have to just extract whatever's left and make a new one out of it."

And with a quick snap of his finger, "John Dweller" vanished into oblivion. All that was left was a new soul of existence ready to be included in the cycle. And so it did as it was sent through a golden portal of bright light. But because of the god's negligence, he failed to notice the small aura of chaotic evil leaking from the soul.

Where is this soul going you ask?

"Congratulations Miss Aina! It's a healthy little boy!"
