Interesting Surprise

"Wake Up boy, we'll arrive soon." I heard the rough voice of my father speak.

Opening my eyes the sun rays caused them to blink making me rub them in irritation, looking down at my lap I saw Anthony laying down on my lap resting peacefully. Making sure not to wake him up I slipped my legs out from under him and stretched my arms raising them above my head and releasing a big yawn.

"Kid you got to teach me how you can sleep a whole week without food, you're like a bear. Just like you're mo..." Connin suddenly paused, " Actually nevermind. "

This confused me but I didn't think much of it and just looked towards my father, to which he shrugged. Seeing this I decided to stare out into the forests, filled with things people never know of. Creatures disappear to never be found for years, only to pop up once again. The technique of disappearing is a skill many wish to learn, but cannot master however hunters and assassins seem to gain them through training.

As you never question a hunter that disappears for months, and they are able to reintegrate into life once they come back, it is a technique I wish to learn. Vanishing without a trace, so I may live peacefully although I know that will never happen, but ill make sure to try.

"What's on your mind, Boy."

"Nothing, I'm just wondering what will have changed."

"It may look different, but the people will be the same and you must always remember, people are more important than a place." My father spoke, " After all without people there would be no place."

Hearing him I nodded, after all there is nothing I could rebuke to that sentence.

"Say, what are we gonna do when we get home?"

"We'll skin the deer and sell the unusable bits to the butcher, they always find a use for it afterall even if we don't make a bunch and we'll have Robb's wife sow you a new cloak. We'll then hang the deer skull on the wall, and sell the rest of the bones to a fisher or something like that. "

Listening to him, I nodded along as I took in the information as learning what parts of the animals that could be used would be useful. I patted the dog as I stared into the distance and listened to my fathers distance chatter on the use of animal parts.

" Sorry to interrupt your bonding time, but we're here!" A sudden shout from Connin as the carriage came to a quick halt causing Anthony to wake up startled.

Causing me to stroke his fur to try and calm him down as he was fully alert due to the sudden stop. Jumping off the carriage landing on my feet, I gave way for Anthony to jump down encouraging him, " Come on boy, we're home. "

Causing him to look at me tilting his head as if he was confused with word 'home'. Never the less he jumped down and stayed near me while my father lowered himself down from a sitting position. Once down he pulled the Black deer out and placed it on his shoulder.

"Come on lad. Time to go home. "

Hearing my father I nodded, 'I can't wait to finally sleep in a nice comfy bed, those logs and planks did some damage to my back. '

I hastened my step, pulling on Anthony's leash he started following me. Looking up at the sky, I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. We're finally home and can relax after all, we won't need to go hunting for a while after all it is a deer, as long as we eat every piece of it. I can't wait to try some unseasoned meat, causing me to groan in response.

'I'll be missing seasoned food, maybe there might be some salt. Although I doubt even that.'

Slouching my shoulders, I continued following my dad before I was suddenly tackled by a girl, she looks similar age to me although she has blonde hair and blue eyes, just like that man Robb.

"Rosie, get back here! Let Jakob and Aleksi finish their work." I suddenly heard a shout from who I assumed to be Robb.

I felt tears fall on my shirt and looked down to see the girl crying.

"Rosie, are you alright?" I asked gently while hugging her back, with my dog just watching and what I presume the distant laughter to be my fathers rolling on the floor somewhere.

"You promised to call me Rose, Alek. Why'd you leave without telling me, for two weeks I missed you and you didn't even tell me where you were going. " She sniffled as she tightened her grip around me causing some air to be blown out of me.

'So we did have a close bond, to the previous owner of this body I'll do you justice.'

"I'm sorry Rose, I'd thought you would of known. I promise I won't do that again. " I patted her back as I spoke

"Promise? " She asked looking at me causing my heart to ache.

" I promise but can you please get off me. "

" Oh yeah, sure." She said quickly and stood up, dusting off her clothes, " Will you come around later, I wanna hear more of your cool stories. Shooting arrows, and hunting in the forest." She pleaded.

"Yeah, of course. I'll tell you about my most recent hunt later. "

" Yay, did you hear that father, he'll tell me about his most recent hunt before you. " The girl spoke energetically running to her father.

"Bye Rose, I got to go do something now. " I waved at her to which she reciprocated.

Grabbing my dog's leash, I walked to my father who was staring at me with a proud smile, " What's that dumb look for?"

"I'm just proud of you son. That's all. " He said sending a light punch to my arm, " Now lets get going. "

Looking behind me, I saw Rose with a smile on her face, all energetic. Now that does bring a smile to my own maybe this life won't be so bad after all.
