Ellis sat among the rubble of the decrepit room looming over him a blinking light. He sat there with his head down thinking hard about what he should do. The blinking light flashed brightly as Ellis stood up. He strode forward towards the exit of the room where he was met with a familiar smile. Ellis glanced at the boy with guilt in his eyes as he walked away.
This was the option chosen. Either way, the boy would've died if he were to leave or not at least one of us had a chance.
"Where are you going boss" said the young boy, who always looked at Ellis with such innocent eyes.
I have to go Will." Ellis replied quietly, his voice low and gravelly. His gaze turned downward, his eyes fixed on the ground in front of him. The words came out of his mouth with pain and sorrow. Ellis had known the boy for a long time and had grown attached to him. He could feel the boy standing behind him, his presence like an anchor clinging to his back. The boy looked up at Ellis with a somber expression, his face pale with grief.
"If you change your mind, I'll be here," said Will, he stood strong despite the tears flowing down but Ellis had no more time to ponder.
Walking onto the the streets of the outskirts reminded him of all things they did together. As Ellis walked through over the pothole he noticed some graffiti on the walls. He pondered if it was a good idea to put their real names instead of pen names but who cares now.
Ellis arrived at his destination, his body moving in an odd, shuffling manner as he entered the place. He scanned the familiar surroundings until his eyes finally came to rest on the officer stationed at the counter
