CHAPTER 2: PLAYING CUPID

ZANE

It has been a while since I came back to the city. I was pissed with my mother months ago before I left in the country. I haven't spoke to her in a while. I love my mother we all do.

However, she was getting into my nerve sometimes. I flew different countries when I do not want to see her. But some were businesses and some were pleasures.

My plane landed at the airport few moments ago. I saw Brix waiting for me at the waiting area. He is my right hand in everything. I trusted him and we have been friends since high school. He knows me very well.

We were exiting from the airport and I asked Brix to go straight to the company. I have some important things to do that needs to taking care of.

We reached the company, greeted me as I came in.

It has been a while since I stepped foot in my company. I'm so glad to be back. For a couple of months, I got some great news to the company. It was blessing in disguise from that moment I was piss.

I worked hard to get those contracts, yes, not just one but more than one in different countries. My secretary greeted me as I passed at her table.

She has been my secretary for quite a longer time. Since I handle this branch, she was not like my previous secretaries have hidden agenda. I do not mix my business with pleasure.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Zane." Hazel said as stood up following inside my office.

She handed me the files I was about to sign. I sat down as I glanced at Brix eyeing my secretary secretly. I smirked as I flipped the documents.

"Do you need anything else, Mr. Zane?" She asked.

"No Hazel, you may go now." I spoke.

She walked past Brix as his eyes moved watching her. As soon as my office door closed, I put down my pen. Facing Brix, who was looking at me confused.

"What?" He asked with wide eyes.

I shook my head in disbelief. We were friends since high school he knows everything about me and I know everything about him.

"You have been eyeing Hazel for such a long time. But until now, you never get the move to approach her." I spoke. "Why? She is a decent girl that I am sure about it. She is not like my previous secretaries and you know that." I added. "What stopping you?"

"I do not know. Maybe I was chicken out that I am not her type." Brix confessed.

"Oh, come on. Don't be ridiculous for Christ's sake." I replied. "I know she has a thing for you too. Just work it out and ask her out. I do not mind I know she is professional and you know that." I added.

I want him to open his eyes to someone. I know she likes him too. He has been with me and never dated anyone since the last one he thought she love him.

Hazel is a good girl and has a thing for Brix. They were both just shy to admit for themselves.

Brix nodded and left me for a while to continue my work. I will not go home tonight and stay at the hotel. I already reserve since tomorrow is Sunday. I will hit off to my favorite club since I miss for a while now.

Time for my last document to sign. Putting down my pen, I pressed Hazel number.

"Yes, Mr, Zane, what can I do for you?" She asked.

"Come to my office." I said then put down the phone. Just a minute later she knocked on my door then I let her in.

"Yes, Mr. Zane." I handed her the documents already signed. She accepted it and stayed for my instructions.

"Give that to Atty. Garcia for further review and tell him if there are no problems with it." I speak. "Then what will be my schedule on Monday?" I asked.

Hazel scanned her scheduler notes. "By Monday morning around 9, you have a meeting with the new business partner in Conference 4. By lunch, you have an appointment with Prof. Lewis at Mexican Restaurant. That's all sir."

I nodded. It was not that hectic by Monday. I guess, I can relax a little.

"Okay, that would be all." I spoke. "Hazel, are you seeing someone?" I asked. I saw her eyes in shocked. I know I do not ask my employees personal questions but I was helping them. "Do not think it a wrong way but I do not like you romantically. You are like a little sister to me so do not worry. You are the only secretary that does not throw yourself one and I appreciate that."

"Aw, thank you Mr. Zane. I feel the same to you too. You are not just my boss but an older brother to me that I respect." Hazel said, smiling naturally. "No, I am not seeing anyone."

"Okay, that's good to know. Have fun tonight." I added.

She walked out my office, closed my door. I know what's in her head, confusion.

I gathered my things to prepare to go home and take a shower before going to the club.

A knocked from my door. Brix came in. "Are you going back to the mansion?" He asked.

"I forgot to mention that I will be staying tonight at the hotel." I said as he looked at me.

"Are you?" He asked confused.

"Yeah, I will go to the MV Club tonight unwind before going to the mansion tomorrow. I will call you to pick me up. But for now, send me to my hotel." He nodded as I walked out to my office.

Hazel locked my door as I leave. Brix dropped me off to the hotel.

"Are you sure you do not want me to accompany you at the club?" He asked.

"Well, you should be there too and find someone or ask Hazel to the club." I teased. "I am playing Cupid with you two." I smirked.

"Come on, Zane. Stop teasing me to her. She has a boyfriend." He said as he raised his brow.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked but he did not answer me. "Pick me up by 8."

I stepped out from the car and headed towards the hotel entrance.

I was already inside at my suite, eating my dinner. I already had my shower as soon as I came in. It was sad to eat alone after working hours. That's why I usually go out spend my weekends with friends.

I finished my meal and put on my clothes. I am ready to enjoy and get laid tonight. I splashed some perfume to my body before heading out.
