"Forward - or Helion, will have your heads - I said forward!"

A monstrous red figure with curved horns on either temple of the creature's head - large and proud - ordered loudly as he stood tall among the imps and lesser hell spawns he commanded. It was an army headed to the realm beyond theirs - to the overworld; the natural plane - where the green grass, blue skies, and sun were an absent theme in their underworld; the nine hells, where only the darkness lingered and the lava pool as the source to forge their infernal weapons against their enemies.

The hell spawns growled their occasional sound - excited to reap through the natural plane - as the massive monstrous red figure halted just before an edge. Beyond the edge was a deep abyss - a birthplace of darkness - but not empty as several roars echoed from it. Unknown creatures even to them who shared the hells with.

Just then a flying creature - not an imp but a 'human' figure - descended behind him. He did not turn. But he acknowledged her arrival. "It seems you're prepared."

"The Master has ordered me with the task - I will not disappoint!"

There was silence between them until the woman made something certain. "It is best that you don't. Lest a painful torment is what you're looking interested in, Velrus."

Quick to dissipate the thoughts of failure Velrus turned and met her gaze that looked at his with a painted smile - teasing him and enjoying the pressure on him - before she spread open her wings and flew away as a portal began to activate just slightly on the very edge.

Welcoming back the thoughts on the task at hand and personal agenda, he looked to the portal with a sharp eye until he let out a loud bellow as the army marched through it and unto the natural plane.

"You're dead! Try again!"

A large bulky man stated - wielding the same weapon; a shortsword - as the recruit took the proper stance. Then in an instant charged with the shortsword - 'charging' up - as he intended to deal a heavy blow until; the exact same blade easily disarmed him when the swords made contact.

"It's a shortsword - not a longsword - you don't need the extra movement, and you don't need to charge it. It offers finesse and versatility. Quick slash and stab. Again!"

The old man who had white hair and a thick beard - along with such a bulky body covered in scars - shared a lesson and proper way to wield the sword. If the recruit was smart the boy would have learned that each weapon was unique in their own parts - that not all sharp blade was for a single purpose; but many - as he waited for an attempt made by the recruit to strike at him.

By then they had gathered a small crowd - fellow recruits and instructors - as both maintained their stance as a short gust of wind forced the recruit to close his eyes temporarily and open them to see a sword by a mere inch away from his neck.

The people from the crowd gave a round of applause with awe on their faces, as expected from the man; the Grandmaster of an Order of Paladins within the kingdom of Eledryl; a reformed republic.

Despite still having aristocrats - nobles - and a ruling monarch; their power was limited, since recent cases that happened not long ago. But peace was finally achieved.

"You have potential. You have a sturdy heart, Fenrid. You would make a fine Paladin."

With such encouraging words, there was without a doubt that the recruit was motivated to chase after his; potential. Before he was dismissed when the instructor called after him to continue their training with the others. Meanwhile, the Grandmaster turned to meet a messenger who had patiently waited.

"Grandmaster Gerhard, the monarch and the people's head of state; request your audience in a dire matter that concerns our republic. We must hurry."

By the look on the messenger's face and the tremor in his voice, Gerhard was able to discern what the cases may be. Despite simply assuming, Gerhard understood that the republic had very little trouble, so for a concern to arise that they called upon him, it was very serious.

"Then let us make haste. Lead on."

Clad in silver shining armor - with a blue cape - the Grandmaster walked along with the messenger as they went to the palace; where the monarch and the people's head of state were waiting on the Grandmaster's arrival.
