1 Chapter 0: Prologue

'Youth, what does that word mean to me?' I asked my self. 'For me youth is the time of my life where I go to school, study, walk home, study, go to cram school, walk home, eat dinner, study, go to sleep and repeat.' I answered my self. 'Aren't you forgetting the most important part young sir?' I complimented my self. 'Ah yes, the one time of day I truly feel happy. Watching Alice in the classroom.' I answered grinning thoroughly, but something wasn't right. I was supposed to be studying by myself at cram school. 'So inner self please tell me why ALICE IS SITTING NEXT TO ME?!' I screamed in my head. My face was beet red and I couldn't take my eyes off the beautiful black haired girl next to me. 'This is Alice isn't it? Alice, the one from my childhood who I used to play with at her house and vice versa?!' Alice noticed my intense gaze and her eyes averted mine before I could see her face which is probably what she thought, but I could see it. There would be no way I could not see her face as it was practically glowing red. I mustered up the courage to talk to her as I turned my body in my chair towards her. I was going to ask her how her day had been when I my body begun to act on it's in impulse. 'Wait, body stop, body stop it right now!' I begged my body to give me control when my mouth opened.

"Um, Alice?" I asked Alice quietly.

"Y-yeah Joel?" she replied nervously.

"Cram school has like three minutes left so after I was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner?" I whispered quietly. Alice sat up and turned towards me faster then a bullet train and before I could react she was nodding her head frantically while blushing. We quietly left the room after lacking up our laptops and notebooks and begun to walk silently across the street. Alice was the one who break the silence. "So Joel, where do you wanna go?" She asked me.

"I feel really hungry right now so lets go get some Jack Donald's?" I said but not definitively.

"That doesn't sound bad at all!" She said in high spirits. We made our way across town to a small brick shop with a playground out the back. I ordered a Big Kack and Alice the same. After eating we both felt less tense and begun to discuss various topics. "How was your day?" I asked Alice.

"It wasn't the best but it wasn't bad. I don't really know how to study so cram school is pretty hard for me." She said with a slightly hopeful tone. I realised a chance had opened to secure more time together and asked her to study with me sometime.

"Maybe you could come over to my house some time and study, there won't be any interruptions since my parent's don't really come home much and my younger sister and brother are always at their friends houses." I assured her.

"Hmmmmm, ok that sounds good. It's pretty dark so could you walk me hoe please?" She asked.

"Okay!" I said while internally dying from joy. We left the store and begun to walk home. About halfway to our destination I noticed we were being followed. The people following us were three males who were buff and tall while looking like thugs. "Were being followed, we'll take the shortcut so please be a bit quieter and don't look back." I whispered into her ear when her face turned to one of joy to one of horror.

"Those guys are after me since my older brother won't pay for his drugs!" She whispered irritably.

"It's okay since I'll get you home." I assured her while taking her into an alley. This was a very risky move but it would be worth it if we could make it through here. As we were about to come out of the alley six more men came into view and proceeded towards us. I turned Alice around and bumped into the biggest of the three men. The man punched me in my gut causing me to fall to my knees and nearly vomit. I had been forced to do martial arts and kendo until last year since I had just turned eighteen. I naturally received top grades among my peers and was regarded as a genius but my 13 years worth of experiences were useless when it came to these killers real life combat experience. "Joel!" Alice cried while another guy punched her in her face and knocked her unconscious. "ALICE!!" I roared as my eyes became bloodshot from my rage. I pulled out the knife that I had kept on me for emergencies like this and dodged another big guys grapple. I through the knife into his lung and watched him gurgle up blood. The mans face had turned from expressionless to full of fear while crying and coughing blood. The man fell limp as I rushed to Alice. Another man grabbed my head and smacked it into the wall above Alice's body. At that moment I died. My last visions where Alice crying over me and then her picking up my knife and cutting her own throat. I still remember the sensation of her blood spurting onto my cracked head to this day. Suddenly, the world turned into memories, memories of my childhood and memories of the present. They stopped playing at certain parts of the memories and a pattern began to occur. This was when I realised that something was going wrong with my death. The memories where stopping at parts where my I drew dragons, knights, adventurers and magic as well as reincarnation and lots of different parts of fiction that had randomly come to my mind. My head wen't blank and I closed my eyes.

"I truly pity thee lesser life form." A mighty voice roared through my mind. "As of present, Joel Noctelle and Alice Fockwell have perished. Due to your ancestors being of noble blood and Joel being regarded as genius among humans by his peers and gods alike, you both will be reincarnated. My fate bless you" The voice that was hurting my head slowly faded away. I opened my eyes to see me and Alice's dead bodies from above. I looked around and saw Alice looking at me with a smile. I floated over to her and embraced her. Although we could not speak, our feelings were in sync. Our bodies were suddenly pulled to the side as my vision turned black. I saw a thin trail of white lights and decided to follow them. Upon being sucked into the white lights I closed my eyes. When I next opened my eyes I would see a spectacle that only happens in light novels. 'Reincarnation'.
